How is it that the guy who has told three different stories about the last time he saw her (and she is now missing) not considered a suspect? Lock his behind up for telling at least two lies to LE!
And he walked away at 9:55 am.
Walking towards her clothes? Did this guy check if her clothes were there or not? Did this guy check that she got back to her room safely?
Three different stories...
What's the fourth one? The real one?

If her phone had no power, it makes complete sense she would leave it behind rather than take it to the beach (in a bikini). Regardless of whether that was normal behavior for her, a phone without power is like carrying a brick. It's not useful and heavy and awkward.

These are the kinds of information that should be completely clear by now in this case. Yet, it is not.
—what’s the deal with the power being out? How long has it been out. How were people dealing with it? What was the resort doing to help people with it?
—how was SK and her friends being affected by the power outage? Were they able to charge devices and phones or did they go long spells with no phone service?
—what was the security situation for the resort’s guests?
—was the guy LE is talking to a local or another guest?
—why did it take two days to start looking for her?
—whose in charge of this investigation?
—why do we not have a more definitive outline of what went on that night and early evening?
We don’t seem to be getting even the bare bones of information to me.

I’m going back to the phone and her belongings.

It’s reported that it’s unusual that she wouldn’t have them on her.

I know previous poster said it made sense if she were going to go swimming but I actually don’t think it makes sense at all. Most people her age are going to leave it in a shoe, on a bench something but not go without a phone. Not to mention being alone with someone she doesn’t know.

I haven’t seen this mentioned and if it was I may have missed it but do we even know for sure something didn’t happen prior to only the friends and man leaving with her phone and her belongings? Can we confirm she was okay at that time?

Agreed. ^^^

& I was thinking if the beach was well-lighted, people may have wandered out there at any time.
Did anyone else see the two of them together ?
IF there was foul play, was she moved earlier ?
Imo.
This is a resort, people on vacation at the beach wander out to watch the sunrise and look at the stuff that washed up overnight. It happens at every beach I have ever been to. There should be actual witnesses if she was swimming at 6am.

Additional questions to add to others:
* When did she arrive and when did she plan to leave? March 6 was a Thursday so I assume that was likely just past the halfway point in her trip. (Assuming many who do a vacation like this travel to/from on Saturdays.)
* If most visitors stay for a week, does that mean most potential witnesses have already left the resort/island?
* Do local LE even have a good list of people who were staying there at the same time? If they wanted to follow up with potential witnesses, what diplomatic protocols would they need to use to contact people in other countries? Who/from where domost clients come from? The US? Canada? Europe?

These resorts have check ins and departures all day every day

As far as the power outage, I lived I. The area aa long time ago and power outages were a regular thing in the country. . Not sure if it's the same but it used to happen a few times a week at least.

His daughter told her friends Wednesday that she was heading to a party at the resort, he said.

“She went to the beach on March 6 early morning around 4 a.m. with friends and some other guys they met at the resort. After that, her friends came back after some time and my daughter did not come back, did not show up from the beach,” her father said.

Her friends alerted authorities when she wasn’t in her room the following morning, her father said.

Well, that doesn't look good at all.

This case reminds me so much of Reny Jose's disappearance. Like Sudiksha, he was on a Spring Break trip with his friends but in Florida. And just like this poor girl, Reny seemed to have straight up vanished into thin air. It was speculated that he drowned while under the influence of drugs.

ETA: Oh wow. They're both of Indian descent.

This reminds me so much of Natalie Holloway and Joran Van der Sloot. Very likely she was thrown into the ocean after a sexual assault, JMO.

IF she was harmed, the longer the span of time before her recovery from the ocean (if in the ocean), the less proof of harm there will be. ...if she is found at all.
4 hours, did this guy have access to a boat?, even a vehicle?
I've been to that area of the DR.....so many places to be disappeared.
I feel so sorry for this young woman, and her parents and loved ones.

When you add up all the little pieces, that is what it sounds like. Her friends left her with a man on the beach. Four hours later he left alone. If she is not seen leaving the beach, she's still there.

Riptide - that's what Joran relied on to hide Natalie's body. Her body never returned to shore, probably due to water currents at that time that day. Looking at water currents helps rule in or out the possibility that she was pulled out to open water, but it's hit and miss to predict whether those same currents would return her to land. I remember trying to figure it out with Natalie.

If Sudiksha was suddenly overcome by waves or riptides, the man she was with should have run for help immediately. Sauntering away 4 hours later suggests he wanted to make sure that she didn't float back to shore - or he was really confused and waited for her to come out of the water. That's where drugs/alcohol info helps.

I was in riptides off the South coast of Mexico (somewhere around Puerto Escondido). There, I experienced something different with riptides. Not only did the near-to-shore water pull people away from shore, but the surface of the sand under the water had deep ridges of 1-2 feet every 2-3 feet apart (from the water crashing down). Getting caught in that was like spinning in a washing machine. A non-strong swimmer could get into a lot of trouble fast in that environment.

I don't think anyone can conclude that if she was pulled out with riptides that she would land back on short.

"It's four days, and if she was in water, she would likely have been strewn to shore," her father Subbarayudu Konanki told WTOP-FM. "She's not found, so we're asking them to investigate multiple options, like kidnapping or abduction."

I was looking at the location of the resort. It appears that there are hotels on either side, and all along.
When I was there many years ago, there were very few hotels. Leaving the grounds, we hiked all up and down the coast, beautiful but isolated. Very few other people to be seen.
But now with a row of resorts one after the other, I'm reconsidering a scenario where they walked off the property.
I dunno. It IS possible the guy fell asleep on the beach and Sudiksha was taken by the ocean current.

It's possible she is on the grounds as well....
Remember Bruce Beresford-Redman who killed his wife Monica Burgos in Cancun, and hid her in a sewer? Dear God, that creep lived a couple of blocks from me.

How can the family ever know what happened?

So, I’m confused. I thought the last seen wearing was a brown bathing suit, yet this article says they went from a club to the beach and also says “her clothes” were found on a beach bed. Were those clothes she had on over the bathing suit? Or are they saying they found the bathing suit?

In the photos of what she was last wearing, it looked like a bikini top and prob. matching bottom, with white macrame' shorts worn over the bikini bottom ?

Reviews of the resort on TripAdvisor and other travel-related websites (I won’t link, because I don’t want to violate TOS) suggest that power outages are (and have been), for some reason, a fairly common occurrence at this resort. But it also seems many travelers accept that inconvenience because it’s inexpensive, offers all-inclusive packages, has a festive/party atmosphere, and is convenient to the beach and other resorts and clubs.

Likely a bathing suit & cover-up - I wouldn't get too far into the weeds on the clothing description.

At best, according to his story told to LE - we are looking at two young people who had been partying all night with a group, then later enjoyed some private time alone on the beach. While likely under the influence of something - unfortunately decided to go for a swim. The male made it out alive, Sudiksha did not. Said male, still under the influence after exiting the water - vomited and then fell asleep on the beach. Slept for a few hours, woke and could not find Sudiksha, left and went back to his hotel room. I gather this may mean he is not a local? All just MOO of what may have transpired that night.

JMO, unless and until they find Sudiksha - there is no way to determine, if what is being stated is true.

I was looking up the info that Peace Corps has on electricity in Dominican Republic:

" Many communities have electricity with current running similar to that in the United States (110 volts, 60 cycles), but power outages are common and can occur multiple times a day. It is not uncommon to be without power for many hours during the day."

LCSO said: "There is no evidence or confirmation of a drowning at this time and the case is being aggressively investigated by U.S. law enforcement working with the Dominican national police, with support from assets here at home. This includes all persons of interest who may have seen or been with her. Our office believes all possibilities need to be explored, as well as any evidence that may be uncovered to learn happened based on her last known whereabouts."

The young man believed to have stayed with Konanki at the beach has told police multiple versions of the last time he saw the University of Pittsburgh student, the local police source told CNN.

He told authorities they both went into the ocean but he felt sick, got out of the water and fell asleep on a lounge chair, according to the source. He has said Konanki may have been swept away by a wave, left when he got out of the water, or saw her walking along the beach with the water up to her knees in the direction of where she had left her clothes, the source said.

The young man is not considered to be a suspect at this time.

This makes a little more sense than what I read earlier.

In all fairness, the different versions could be due to being under the influence that night. He might not actually remember what happened. But was nervous, fearful, and felt pressured to provide answers to investigators.

Until she’s found, he’s going to be under a cloud of suspicion IMO. I wonder what his age is and where he’s from?
