My gut is I am going with #3. Daily mail has the surveillance video on their site and he is clearly stumbling drunk with what appears to be another drink in his hand. His "three versions" of his story sound like the same story to me told by a nervous 24 year old who probably remembers very little- they went in the water, I got sick and had to come out, I passed out on the beach, but I might have seen her out of the water walking in a moment when I woke up for a minute."

Sudiksha is still missing in DR. Crews reportedly found her clothes. ABC News is reporting that at this point her disappearance is being treated as an accident. The young man who was with her last says she was swept away by a wave when they went swimming.

Assuming he and Sudiksha weren't the only ones at the beach.
There are going to be questions as to the timeline and if he said nothing until questioned by LE after he went back to his room at the resort ?

My daughter was just at the resort next door. I asked her why she never went swimming. She is a very strong swimmer but she said the current was too strong. She felt it wasn't safe to swim and she has been to beaches all over the world.

Thinking out loud. It seems that people are rarely without their phones. For me, even if my phone is out of battery, I still carry it around in case I find a charging spot or need to make an emergency call with whatever little power is left. Secondly, when the boy regained consciousness/woke up, it’s puzzling that he didn’t notice her clothes were still there. Did he think she walked back to her hotel room with no clothes on? Why didn’t he check on her or with her friends to ensure she was alright? That aspect feels a bit hinky.

Speaking from (unfortunate) experience pass out puking drunk - waking up 5 hours later I would have no idea what my surroundings were or any ability to understand just able to get to somewhere for the world to stop

Remember 5 hours after being that drunk he was probably still drunk.

In that video, I'm seeing SK and JR at the back, three other women and one other man. Then at around 2:50 on the recording, it looks like SK and JR are at the front and he's recording them, with two women behind them. I'm curious about what her friends have told authorities about the evening's activities.

My feeling now is that this is what happened. He did pass out on the beach after feeling sick, and when he came to later, went back to his room believing she had ditched him and left too. That's why there was no call for help or panic when she disappeared.

Earlier when I saw on the map it was one hotel after the other along the beach, it's highly unlikely that local people were wandering around. Very different from when I was there many years ago. At the time there wasn't even that airport nearby.

Terrible tragedy.

I am glad your daughter was able to gauge the situation. The words "strong swimmer" often come up in conversations I have with people about rip currents. Being a strong swimmer is quite irrelevant when it comes to rip currents. People try to swim against them, tire themselves out and drown.
