I thought I read somewhere that their phones were left in the flat? Obviously they had one with them to send the text.
One of their current phones was left in the flat, I believe I read the others were old ones, probably not currently being used, just stuffed in a drawer or something. I think most of us have a few.

MOO

This is a common misapprehension. People may well have spoken to the police. Just because it hasn't been reported doesn't mean it didn't happen.
The comment from the police speaks for itself.
As you can see with those that I would say were borderline harassed (neighbours/landlord) by the Hungarian journalist going by her article, likely other members of press did similar or worse, I can see why many wouldn't come forward publicly. The police did do several interviews, with those who last seen them / had history with them. Also everyone in the UK saw the farcical Press and social media frenzy of Nicola Bulley and would not want any part of that.

So sad to hear. I guess a positive of it being Henrietta, if there can be in this case, is the Police may have also recovered her phone, with up to date search history etc. To help understand what exactly was going on inside the head of at least one of them.
A question for anyone in the know, just out of curiosity, but now it's become a recovery operation is it likely the police would still have a need to search/attempt to get data from any phone that they may have found along with the body?

Their mission is to establish what happened and find them, would they also be trying to find the answer as to why this happened?

Or, given that it would take extra resources and man power, would it just not be something they will do purely to try and find some answers for the family?

I believe it said at least 1 of their phones was left along with other digital devices. They obviously had one with them to send the final text to the landlady.

Police also said they were unsure if they were recent. I know if I went missing today, there would be a couple of old phones in my drawers, like many others have, that wouldn't necessarily say anything about plans/head space/contacts on the day or the lead up to be relevant.

So the body was found by the Queen Elizabeth bridge, seen by a member of the public. According to google maps that’s only a couple of miles down the river from where they went in.
Only quarter of a mile at most between the bridges: a 5 to 10 minuite walk.
Possibly the women entered the water between the two bridges.

Queen Elizabeth Bridge is "up-river" from Victoria Bridge, while the Harbour is "down-river", nearer the sea.

A little surprising that the body was found slightly further inland, when police river searches had ended and it had been announced that searches were being concentrated at sea or along the coast - but I know next to nothing about "tidal rivers".

Regarding the bag that the woman in blue was carrying across her body.
It looked like a small bag to me.
I read that the women smoked ... and am a smoker myself - and it seems to me that the bag is just the right size to hold the one mobile phone they took with them (to message the landlady?) and perhaps their cigarettes and lighter?
A last cigarette ...

Very very sad.

Probably were faking being happy and cheerful during the video call with their sister for New Year :(

Sometimes when a people have made a decision to die by suicide they feel sort of relieved, which makes them ‘happy’. Could have been the case here. A comfort in perhaps their suffering will be ending soon.

There'll be an inquest into their deaths, I imagine phones will be searched to get information for that. The phones could provide evidence that will allow the coroner to declare the deaths a suicide, misadventure, narrative verdict, open verdict, etc... coroners in the UK don't like to declare a death to be a suicide unless there's very solid evidence of intent, so a note or other message is usually needed.

But their triplet sister did indeed notice something inexplicable and felt, there would happen something bad with her sisters in the future. That is touching me: separated for 10 years and despite separation this intuition. Fascinating and also very sad.

I don't know why but this particular incident is very disturbing to me. If the two women really did enter the freezing river of their own will then that is truly awful and morbid. I can't think of too many worse ways to pass away so it is heartbreaking they felt this was their best option. And to do it together? Beyond sad. Feel for their families right now.
