Emergency custody papers filed by mother of JI's son 11/14/11

I would have to see this report. Because the one I remember the reporter didn't state who said it, but had family members on tape. I would think that would be a very good sound bite if I was that reporter. So I take that as hearsay.

I have never said what I have heard was not hearsay and I am not quoting anybody. I am just relaying what I have been told by several different people who know the circumstances. One of which knows very well the circumstances on a personal basis but I am not going to get this person involved but there is no way I am going to not believe this person as they have nothing at stake to say any different.

And if she was deported (which I don't believe) how did she come up with the funds to get back. I think if she had access to those kind of funds, she could afford to pay child support and find a way to keep in touch.

i have been trying to find a link to this "deported" statement for a while, no luck yet. i don't remember hearing it, but i came into this case a few days late so it's possible i didn't see it.

The ONLY thing I could find about a possible deportation was on a blog which will remain nameless, and even there they said it was a rumor. The other stuff - who knows?

And, correct me if I am wrong, but if someone is deported they cannot legally apply for legal status for a long time. My husband came to the US (legally, and trust me, it cost a fortune) from Germany when we got married, and got very familiar with immigration laws. LOL. Unless it's changed it was like 12 or 15 years I think.

She has relatives also living in Kansas...and yet no one has seen this little boy in 6 years. No need to miss him if you make an effort to see him....this makes me so angry!!!

Yeah, well what makes me angry is a mother watching three children who gets smashed out of her mind and loses one of them.

"and family members would not go as far to say she would file papers for custody" 1:25 mark

This tells me that this is, in fact, put on by LE, not the mom. It doesn't sound like this is about custody at all, nor like she is even interested in custody.

And still hearsay to me about the "ruthless" statement. Not a quote to be found.

If she was deported it's highly unlikely she would be allowed back into the country. A mandatory entry ban is placed on visa overstayers and deportees. In order to have this ban lifted she would have been required to obtain consent to reapply for admission through the USCIS.

Visas ain't cheap from personal experience. ;) I've paid nearly $10K in total for 3 tiers of visas for myself and 2 dependents but the US is ALOT cheaper than the UK.

The housekeeper was paying a coyote. I have no clue how much it costs, if much at all, to re-enter legally.

I think most of the cost is for an attorney. She has an attorney.

If JI left DB would that make a difference? Just curious if people think he should lose his son because of DB or because they think he is a bad father.

Does anyone know if they can ask her why she is fighting for her son now? If it is more of a fact finding mission could that come out in court and if it did would she lose based on that? Also will they both automatically be questioned or is it a process where the lawyers argue first then they can call their client to the stand? Sorry I really don't know alot about how custody cases work. tia

I don't think he should lose his son, and I don't think he's a bad father, until he leaves the boys with her unsupervised again. She needs to earn that right back.

Respectfully snipped by me

But then she wouldn't get his benefits if she divorced him....IMO, the real reason.
That is the reason I think nothing has been done, too. Wouldn't be the first time it's happened and I'm sure it won't be the last. Does anyone but me find it odd that SB wouldn't have filed and gotten a divorce himself, though? I guess I don't get it because when I was done I was done.

I don't necessarily need them to split up. I just don't want DB left alone and in charge of his or her own son, or anyone else's child for that matter, until she's had quite a bit of parenting classes and counseling sessions, too and those professionals are willing to put their name on the line saying she's a safe bet. There's already been one tragedy, there is no need to take the chance of another one.
I'd like to see JI also get into some parenting classes as I think he's obviously made some poor choices of who he brings into his son's life.

Well, he spoke no ill will of her (DB). Perhaps he's doing it so that she can get benefits? Sometimes couples don't break up on bad terms. Maybe he figures since he was deployed it wasn't that big of a deal.

Seems like it would be illegal to do that for benefits.

Nor would I in public, or on the record, or to anyone that could end up hurting my child again. We don't know what he really told LE. If it were me I'd tell LE my issues with this person and let it go at that.

I seen a lot of people do it when my husband was enlisted, they got extra pay and the other person got the medical benefits and base privileges. I am not sure how legal it is, but its not an uncommon occurrence. I know you can get in trouble if you get housing without your spouse and/or child living with you. At least they were married and living together for awhile you would be surprised how many people do it with out even wanting to be married to that person. I also know a couple of people who lived separately after it not working out, but still stayed "married" while the other person moved back home

There is a relevant case on Casenet. I don't know whether it is OK to post the specific info or not, but it is not that hard to find. Just don't be distracted by the other Deborah Bradley, who is much older than this one and has had a somewhat.....interesting life. Some people on other boards have gone to town attributing the history of the 'other' Deborah Bradley to Lisa's mom, despite the fact that she is old enough to be DB's mother!

Somehow, I don't think defrauding the government is okay because a lot of people do it. Hopefully, that was not the case.
