If there is no peristalsis and she is fed via G-tube I would think part of whatever she is given would come up and out of her mouth. Correct me if I am wrong but the gastroesophageal and gastroduodenal sphincters are made up of muscle and without a nervous system they would be flaccid. On the flip side the sphincters could be contracted and may not allow passage of liquids. I would advocate for the ETT, but not a G- or J-tube. So sad.
