Don’t Miss the Final day of testimony in the Family Massacre Murder Trial on
@CourtTV
. Florida v. #HenrySegura is LIVE starting at 9am ET Monday.

See everyone Monday! I won't be on until afternoon, darn real life is awful sometimes.
We'll be hear waiting. Can't believe it is the final day. YAY this trial was pretty speedy. I watched the Chase Merritt trial and it took what seemed like an eternity.

The defense expert (on the stand now)preferences his every answer with“Well” .
IMO it means he’s not sure like saying “um” still trying to gather his thoughts to answer. Maybe not that sure of his answer.
Easy to armchair quarterback the crime scene team.
They just said on CTV that this defense expert WAS allowed to sit in court & hear the State’s expert testimony.
More fairytale making IMO.

Edited to add the defense expert also says “kinda” “ sorta” ?

The small shovel: 2ft 3” long
Was that her shovel?
Did they research what store it came from ?
Possibly who purchased it?
Test the mud soil on the shovel?
I know the State’s expert said at some point she was outside the front door then drug back in...could she of grabbed (her)the shovel by the door, porch or ...HS grabbed it.
Obviously not used for blows (or cleaned off) but had blood spatter.
Most guys buy a big shovel ( unless they are cheap & don’t pay child support).
A woman may buy a small shovel.
Kids can bring a shovel inside...
I wish state had a -researched answer- on the shovel.
Any of your answers re: shovel ,appreciated.

MOO

I agree with your assessment of the defense expert. I didn't listen to his whole testimony because, frankly, this is getting tedious and doesn't illuminate anything. But I listened to the beginning and I could tell this guy is just trying to collect a paycheck. There's something discombobulating when you hear former police officers/detective testifying on behalf of defense and making the silliest conclusions. I'm sure this expert deep down agrees with the state's theory of the case. And perhaps that's why his testimony comes off disingenuous.

I agree with all your points above. I would have liked answers to these questions as well but hindsight is 20/20. I don't fault the investigation at the time but now, it has become a big issue since it fits the defense theory of a cartel hit. The shovel being left as a calling card. I believe in the first trial or maybe this one as well, it was stated/implied there was NO BLOOD on the shovel, putting emphasis on the theory the shovel was placed there after the murder as the calling card. The shovel was there.

The shovel is actually quite big. Who in that gang was responsible for bringing this calling card? It is really ridiculous to me but I can see the jury eating this up.

It implies the investigation was not thorough enough but the shovel was tested, blood spatter, and mud was found; to what extent should this common household item be investigated. It is not the murder weapon. The bodies were not buried so no need to test soil.

Typically the defense is now trying to point out what some might perceive as a lack of investigation; weakness to the case, that they only focused on Henry Segura.

ETA: I have a small blower inside my house at this very moment. It is called a sweeper but marketed for leaf use. I use it to blow dog hair from a Pekingese outside so LOL it is not uncommon for me to see a shovel inside the house. It is odd but....and corrected my spelling

Good Afternoon! I thought the defense witness would have been finished by now.

Sounds like the Prosecution is doing a good job of destroying his testimony. At least from what you all have posted and what I have watched so far.

Omg I'm getting one for my house. Great idea.

Did the defense present any crime scene photos (or any other type of evidence besides the professsor) showing spades/shovels left by this gang at other crime scenes? Or is the jury just to take this one guy's word for it?

Are we even going to get to closing statements today? This is dragging.

Great point:) there has been no testimony to this or to the influx of money Brandi would have received. The calling card imo is the fact everyone would know Brandi was killed for being a drug runner......I have seen no proof of this....just implications smearing her.

Juries need to realize the state does not have to prove MOTIVE. The state only has to prove he did it. Motive is nice but who really knows the why in these situations. Some crimes have no motive.

Unfortunately for the last twenty minutes I have been watching an old video SMH apparently when I left the room on break an old video started up UGH.

Buy the black and decker rechargeable from Amazon...and never point it towards the ceiling. I triggered my fire alarm sensor which is hard wired. That cost me a pretty penny to fix.

Yes. They had a brief meeting about jury instructions and will resume tomorrow morning for the closing statements.

I am not sure why the state didn't put on the Rebuttal re-constructionist. Do you think they perhaps did a good job impeaching the defense witness? I wasn't here for all of the testimony.
