What a tragedy for all involved. Bless those grandparents who have lost a child and are now starting all over again to raise their grandchildren. I am raising my youngest son because his biomom (my cousin) has an addiction. I am so thankful that he is still with the family and wasn't lost in the system.

My neighbors have a junkie and a crackhead for adult children, and are raising their grandkids. They aren't in very good physical condition, but refuse to lose their grandkids to the foster system.

So many lost and ruined lives and families. So much violence and property crime.

In another case of a deceased person found in their car, toxicology reports were published now - more than 6 months after the man was found. The article says

The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted a lengthy toxicology test, concluding his death was caused by an accidental overdose of cocaine and fentanyl, an extremely potent painkiller. A week before he was found, 17 people overdosed on cocaine laced with fentanyl in New Haven, with victims saying they believed they were only ingesting cocaine. Three of those victims died.

I thought this might be what happened to this couple as well.

Does anyone recall how long before the detailed toxicology is completed?
So bizarre to only test positive for weed on a preliminarily tox screen. I have to think that's suggestive of a new, designer drug that will ultimately show in detailed panel test.

I wonder if either of these people were taking methadone for withdrawal from heroin. I have mentioned a young couple in my town mysteriously both died at the same time and the cause was unknown. We had an update and it seems the had taken a combination of pills.

DUNDEE - The young couple who were found dead over their fast-food dinner inside their Dundee apartment in October apparently overdosed and collapsed at the same time after ingesting opiate pills.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office released the cause of deaths of Cameron Hulet, 28, and his 20-year-old wife, Courtney, as a result of Xanax and methadone toxicity.

"It appears to be accidental," he said.

WS poster "Hatfield" made a good post on methadone toxicity at #330
"Deaths have been reported during initiation of methadone treatment for opioid dependence. In some cases, drug interactions with other drugs, both licit and illicit, have been suspected. However, in other cases, deaths appear to have occurred due to the respiratory or cardiac effects of methadone and too-rapid titration without appreciation for the accumulation of methadone over time. Methadone would show up in a standard tox screen, though, which they'd already completed on the bodies, no? I would think so, since they said the only positive (so far) was for marijuana..:

Maybe not ..... apparently it did not show up on the preliminary test for our local couple.

Wow, definitely a possibility and a strong one at that, then - methadone is an incredibly powerful drug, and can be deadly. Usually they have methadone maintenance folks go to the clinic to get their dose - to regulate the precise amount given, and to monitor their sobriety by drug tests and offering group counseling sessions that are often mandatory on a bi-weekly or weekly basis.

They do, however, let you "earn" your way towards taking home methadone - it takes months of responsible attendance and clean urine screens. Would be interesting if this was their first chance at having their prescribed dose given in a 4 day amount and they OD by taking a little (or a lot) extra - to get high.

Simply Caustic, I need to correct myself, as I did not remember exactly right about our local couple found mysteriously dead at the same time. I finally found a link that said no 'immediate determination after autopsy', waiting for tox report. However, even though it says tox report would be in two weeks. it was two MONTHS before the public was informed of the cause of death by Coroner's office.

DUNDEE, MICHIGAN: (posted a couple days after the deaths) "Autopsies have been completed with no immediate determination. Toxicology reports are expected in two weeks." ( took 2 months)

new article, but no new info.

http://www.wftv.com/news/mystery-su...with-3-unharmed-children-inside-suv/480472742

Investigators did not find any drugs in the vehicle and neither parent has a record of drug use.
Investigators with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office told Channel 9’s Cierra Putman that they won’t know more about the deaths until after the autopsy. Deputies said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

My nephew died Jan 31st, 2015 in Queens, NY. My sister received a call from ME about his Tox report around April 15th.

In theory it should show up as an opiate at the least, and as methadone in more specific tests.

I wonder when we'll have more information coming out in this baffling case. I'm speculating it's research chemicals/darknet meds that will show up on a more thorough tox screen versus the simple initial one

I agree research chemicals may be the culprit here. Reminds of Mark Bakotic who went missing in NOLA.

Those substances are truly a game of Russian Roulette.

Why would they take fentanyl while driving on the highway?
