This has probably already been mentioned further back but anyone else find it odd that his dad (when talking to LE) was overly concerned with if they had to look through EVERYTHING on SS’ phone? Almost as if he was worried they might find other things that might possibly incriminate him himself

Just like when the dad said "he saw SA photos of MS" that he "thought" JS showed him.

Yes! I found it odd that SS' father was so in the face of LE in the beginning, IMO trying to get ahead of the narrative. I had the sense he was somehow involved in something related to SS's crimes, but couldn't put my finger on anything specific. Another comment he made at one point was admiring the officer for having an interesting job, after talking about the SA photos (paraphrasing). I believe the father knows and may be involved in much more than what he lets on. MOO.

"She Was Cold" [video link at timestamp]

so i found the video i was looking for. this is from Grizzly True Crime. she shows a clip from Hidden True Crime where SS moms says that SS told them he "put Maddie to bed and went for a walk to blow off some steam" and "when he came back she was cold."
to me this is kinda huge.
even tho we know she was strangled, this means that SS had some convo with his parents about the night Maddie died and what happened. i think the only time he could have had this convo would have been when his dad came to pay for their hotel. i doubt he would have said anything like that over the phone.
bcuz he had already dumped Maddie's body, he may have been trying to direct a narrative in hopes Maddie wouldn't be found in time for an autopsy to show the actual CoD. i think he was hoping she would be too decomposed from the elements for that.
this would also mean that CS possibly withheld info from LE since we haven't yet heard anything about him telling the police about this convo. maybe we'll hear it later, but i think if they had told LE about this they would have mentioned it in one of their interviews or LE would have mentioned it somewhere in the tons of docs and videos we've seen so far.
IMHO there's a lot to unpack about this. i have so many questions...
I'm glad this video was found. I knew that I had seen it. Is there any information out on why He was out blowing off steam? What had enraged him? Was it Madeline or Jen?

agree, what exactly did SS have to "blow off steam" about? That phrase is usually IME used to describe a need to get rid of pent up energy or strong emotions. What was SS feeling strong emotions about? Not that I think this alleged walk happened but his alleged description of WHY he claims to have taken it is very telling to me.

Well... Remember this?

'I didn't start it,' Stephan Sterns tells dad in recorded jail call

So, whatever it was "he didn't start it", yet he needed to blow off steam about it. That leads me to think it was something between him and Maddie, not JS, and whatever that was it was likely what led to him killing her. "He didn't start it" but he sure as hell finished it. All JMO.

I think the "I didn't start it" comment refers specifically to the SA and not the murder. Like most true pedophiles, SS blamed his victim. His victim seduced him, sat on his lap, ran around in her underpants or a million other possible things that these freaks always say about how their victims caused their own abuse.

Typical of SS, nothing is his fault.

This is not a fact nor anything stated by LE, only said by a compulsive liar. We don't know that he left and went on a walk.
It sounds like he told this to his parents and his attorney, to explain how he wasn't there when MS died. He came back from a walk and found her dead. Maybe he claimed he was upset over what he had done with/to MS. His need to "blow off steam" isn't important, it's just an excuse for why he claims he left for a walk. His parents are wondering why the mother hasn't been arrested and ask if SS is cooperating with the police, he says he was but that his attorney said to save it for the trial and to not talk anymore.
This is why SS's mother thinks someone else should be arrested, their son "had sex that he didn't start" with a 13 year old and disposed of the body, because he was sure he would be blamed, but he didn't commit murder. We will have to wait to see if he ever testifies, if his attorney thinks a jury would find him credible, to hear his version of the events.

such a good point that we don’t know he left and it isn’t a fact. He’s gonna say anything to shift the blame to someone else. I presume he’s hoping they are going to have difficulty proving anything IMO

I totally understand that this is just something Stern said to his parents. At no time did I say nor take it as fact. I was simply paraphrasing what he said.
I, along with hundreds probably, are curious if he explained why he was supposedly blowing off steam.
It's obvious that he is trying to Cover his butt.

Am finding the mums description of her "dream" a bit strange
“In the dream they were in Maddie’s room unclothed. Jen came in to wake her up, was confronted by them being together in a way they shouldn’t have been, a struggle ensued and she hit her head or broke her neck, and Jen said to Stephan, ‘You caused this, you have to fix it,’” Debra said of the dream.

I mean does she know the truth she was piping on about stephen being not the only one guilty or maybe this is just her playing down his actions because she doesn't want to admit her son is a filthy child abuser and murderer.
where is this? i haven't heard about this "dream" before. is it in one of the interviews on youtube?
if so i can find it. i need to hear this in context

Welp, SS is in for a big surprise then. They have video of his s e x u a l abuse of Madeline over the many years, they have video of him leaving with her dead (unnatural position) from the townhouse in the car driving out of the main gate, and SS at the scene 'changing a tire' where Madeline's remains were found.

He's toast no doubt. With such strong, irrefutable proof, I have no problem with sending SS to the Death Row Express Lane and I don't normally support the DP.

I think all of us who have reservations about the DP have certain cases and offenders we make exceptions for. This is certainly one of mine.

This poor kid should have been opening presents today. Looking forward to high school. This case... I get angrier about this case than most. It's up there with the cases in my signature, kids who get abused for just existing. It enrages me that this kid got raped for years and then she died, surrounded by adults who not only did nothing, but actively put her in harm's way.

As much as I hate that he filmed her, I'm savagely glad that that abuse of her is what is going to put him away forever, and maybe put a needle in his arm. It wasn't enough that he raped her, he had to record it, and in doing so, he's removed himself from the human race permanently.

All good points but I actually meant that he might think they’ll have difficulty in proving who actually killed Madeline. We know he was driving around with her body in his car but we dont actually know who killed her and whilst I’m sure we all agree on who it was, he may well be thinking that perhaps they might suspect her mom.

Yes, I've thought all along that this will be his defense. JS killed her and all he was doing was trying to help her cover it up.

From what I've seen JS has provided plenty of circumstantial evidence to support this take. Her saying "we" dropped her off at school, comforting SS during the TV interview, the "Woody Allen situation," etc.

I don't believe that's what happened for a minute but I can easily imagine this being the defense's theory.

I agree. So far there is hard evidence of the sexual assaults and evidence that he removed her and disposed of her. That said, I haven't seen anything that shows that he murdered her. I'm sure that will be the "reasonable" doubt some jurors will hear from the defense. JMO

Personally I am on the fence about it....the stuff she has said has been major dodgy and the way she has been acting. She could have quite easily only just found out about it and rather than see it as abuse of her child seen it like an affair an argument could have broken out and as a result JS could have hit her or choked her and killed her as a result and then because of his abuse said this is your fault ...your mess clean it up.. there is just something that doesn't add up in this case

Nothing coming out of SS's mouth is credible, LE has said he is in fact the murderer and that wouldn't be stated without evidence to back it up.
Considering that person(s) in adjacent bedrooms only reported hearing some nondescript noises, not talking, yelling, arguing, doors, etc, I don't think it possible.
It is important to note, SS told his parents he was on a walk, and came back to find MS already "cold". He doesn't accuse anyone of the murder, just says he wasn't there , which may be disproved by his Fitbit. He didn't leave in the heat of a verbal argument which would have been heard by others.
The victim was strangled, seeing how SS left evidence everywhere, including that which is on his phone and Fitbit, I am confident that forensics will give/show us that SS was a rapist and murderer.
I doubt he wore gloves. I am sure that the autopsy was able to find his skin cells in the damaged tissue/bruising around her neck, nothing so far has pointed to a ligature.

Two other things to consider:

"A warrant revealed that Sterns searched “sevoflurane” on multiple dates. Sevoflurane is an anesthetic used during general surgery."

"A roommate who lived in the home with Jennifer, Madeline and Sterns described Sterns’ behavior on the morning Madeline was reported missing as “odd.” She said she saw him going up and down the stairs, going in and out of the home, and “was also washing clothes, which she has never seen him do.”

Well rounded up ....thanks for that and yes I believe you are correct...I didn't even think of the roommates ...You are right they would have heard an argument..... I still think JS has acted weird since for someone who has just had her girl murdered and found out about the years of abuse... She just seems indifferent to it and I dont understand her lying about the morning saying 'We' this and 'we' that seems so peculiar but I guess everyone is different how they handle things
