The thought occurs to me that he might make an Alfred's plea where he doesn't acknowledge guilt but concedes the prosecution has enough evidence to convict him. I don't know if the state would accept that though.

jmo
I certainly hope the state doesn't accept this ridiculous plea.

I think he should get the death penalty to be carried out in a maximum of two years.

I doubt it. She’s too chicken. I do hope we hear from Maddie’s father and step mom…from what I’ve seen, they truly adored her and they were looking for her immediately unlike JS who sat around jiggling her foot.

I’m going to be very annoyed if flipping on JS isn’t part of the deal. I’m no proponent of the death penalty, but for me, him pleading guilty to the charges wouldn’t be enough to make a deal. Yes I know, tax dollars, costly trials and the family members having to go to trial is a consideration.

However, FL is supposed to be getting “tougher” on sex crimes and child abuse. If that’s the case, then let’s start going beyond the perps and include enabling parents that look the other way. At the VERY least I do not understand how JS is not charged with criminal negligence. Those cops grilled her for a reason - they knew she knew.

I’m very critical of LE depending upon the investigation, but I imagine it must be frustrating to know someone you’ve interviewed played a role but won’t be charged. Or that they’ll be released on parole, etc.

Other parents have been charged with criminal negligence for far less, literal accidents where their children died. Where’s the accountability for Jen?
At the very least there are videos and photos of him sexually abusing MS. Hopefully this is enough to send him to the death chamber.

Yes unbelievable. Not to mention:
'Can I make one decision now and change my mind later if I decide not to press charges now could I change my mind and press charges later.' Literal qoute from the police interview. Not to mention the tone. My god.
OMG don't get me started. JS should have been charged as a co-conspirator.

That might be why he is making a plea deal, to avoid the DP. Guess we will know come Monday.

The man accused of raping and murdering 13-year-old Madeline Soto has notified a judge that he will appear in an Osceola County courtroom Monday afternoon to enter a new plea, court records filed late Friday show.

Does the judge have to accept the plea?

Sick. They actually filmed their crime? Well, at least the evidence is solid.
yeah, you know that JS had to notice the tripod in the bedroom.

In March, Sterns was indicted on 60 charges related to sexual battery on a child and possessing materials depicting sexual performance by a child. This all before he was charged with first-degree murder in April.

According to documents obtained by WESH, Madeline's mother, Jennifer Soto, said it was normal for Madeline and Sterns to sleep together — even when she wasn't there.

Stines trial for the 60 Indicted charges above, beginning July 22, is only expected to last about four days. The good news is an SS conviction here is what will earn him the DP when also convicted for MS's murder. #JusticeforMaddie

I think that is exactly what he is doing. Just like Kohberger did.

Hmmm...I wonder if JS will make an appearance?

IMO no. To her Maddie was just a means to an end (SS's presence in their lives). The only impact she's felt from Maddie's death is SS is no longer around to keep up his end of their vile parasitic relationship.

Remember, even after seeing one of the CSAM images, she was wishy washy about pressing charges.

Again, JMO

She knew what was happening. They lived in an apartment, not a 12,000 foot mansion. And even then, there is a tension always present.

JS belongs in prison.

IANAL but I don't think SS could be eligible for the DP for his abuse of Maddie for a law that just went into effect.

As I understand it, you can't be sentenced under new sentencing laws if you committed your crimes before the law was passed. He wouldn't be be retroactively eligible for the death penalty.

I must say I am surprised if he pleads guilty to the murder as well. I was sure his defense would be that JS did it and he simply helped her cover it up.

Has there been any comments from parents?

I imagine that will happen tomorrow.
I realized they want to support him, but at what time does his mother knowledge that her son is guilty. After listening to several phone calls between him and his parents, I still think that Jennifer needs to be charged. Jen had to have known about the SA, and still have not seen much remorse from her.

Jennifer definitely needs to be charged.
