It could be as simple as this: A reasonably intelligent psychopath and narcissist has huge business and lifestyle ambitions. At first quite successful, he is known in the community as a helper and giver. An achiever. The houses get bigger and smarter. The business expands. And then he makes a mistake. He miscalculates.

The new business isn't making a profit. It loses money. And suddenly it starts slipping away. He desperately borrows more and more money to keep the facade going. He starts stealing. He sends off the wife and kids, to another fantasy life.

And then he is found out.

Very high taxes in CT, too. A lot of people move to Florida from the northeast for this reason alone. I can't recall...if someone can help me out. Didn't Tony sell their home in CT? Was he renting week to week up there or occasionally staying with family? I thought they sold their home up there, but now I'm not sure.

Yes, they sold it. It sounds like he was using the PT facilities to sleep and shower. Jmo

Yes, this! The gas bloat release theory is interesting, and a possibility considering there were no visible wounds on Zoe.

I'm on the fence about murder suicide theory as well. It is plausible, though, if there is any truth to it, that Megan may have felt there was no one left to turn to if her husband went down for fraud.

Twolabs, excellent theory on the gas bloat! Perhaps that’s what AT was upstairs doing when the Feds and Deputies entered. I recall reading that little Zoe was under the blankets at her mother’s feet in bed, so perhaps AT thought her gas bloat wouldn’t be noticed or at risk of not being contained when decomp reaches a certain point and, well.... We all know what happens when a balloon is filled with too much air...I can’t bring myself to type this about little Zo.

It gets cold in FL, too. If I recall correctly. there were some cold days around the time in question. It’s a common myth that the weather affects whether or not someone gets sick.

We get sick in FL, too. We get common colds, and the flu. In fact, there’s a major flu going around central Florida right now. So it does happen often.

That said, I think we all share the same opinion that Megan and the kids having “the flu” was a big ol’ lie AT told to get family members off his back with phone calls and texts.

Cops must have had good reason to charge premeditation and the fact that he rented a car n parked it at the other address is part of that I bet. Still wonder why he stayed in house for over 2 weeks with the bodies n didn’t try to flee. That’s a long time. For a minute I entertained the thought he may have had a psychotic break n snapped, but this tells us that’s not the case. I wonder how long he had been planning it. And now i don’t think suicide was ever in his plan. If so, we can dismiss a mercy killing defense. And possibly he held a great deal of anger against his family.

I don't think the autopsies are complete yet. Cause of death hasn't been released to the best of my knowledge. Jmo

The ME examiner notes the stab wounds and sizes as we'd seen them before. There isn't note of internal injuries on the pages I read. As an aside the weight of MT's liver seems normal
