I have no doubt that everything that's great about France will make it through, ultimately. The West however seems caught in the middle of wars within wars with people who don't know how to make peace with each other or fight each other without dragging others into it their wars, ruthless, calculating and forever cowardly in their choice of victims.

If looking at it in a historical perspective, during the last two millennia or so, it's only for the last 70 years (with a few exceptions) that the countries in Europe haven't been involved in wars with their neighbours. It's not that long ago there were a war in former Yugoslavia, between people who speak the same language, who had lived as neighbours, gone in the same schools, and so on. The same has been going on in the countries that were part of the U.S.S.R., and still going on there. It's easy to point finger at Africa and the Middle East when it comes to wars, and difficulties to make peace with each others, but the same has happened, and are happening, in Europe.

It is damn nice to see a President speak the unfarnished truth devoid of euphemisms, minimizations, and suffocating political correctness when it comes to acts of radical Islamic terrorism, not to mention one that displays unyielding determination to take whatever steps he deems necessary to serve his nation and protect his citizens from future savagery and carnage at the hands of these extremist murderers.

How absolutely refreshing it is for this American from Texas to see that which has sadly become a distant memory over recent years--A true Leader of a nation that stands strong in defense of all of his people with honor, commitment, loyalty, clarity of purpose, and confident resolve. The people of France must be proud of President Hollande.

ETA: Also, thanks to Popsicle's post I was reminded that I also wanted to acknowledge and extend my deep respect to UK Prime Minister for his commitment to President Hollande to fight with them to defeat the terrorists.

Islamic State says France remains top target
CAIRO (Reuters) - Islamic State claimed responsibility on Saturday for attacks that killed 127 people in Paris, saying it sent militants strapped with suicide bombing belts and carrying machine guns to various locations in the heart of the capital.

The attacks, described by France's president as an act of war, were designed to show the country would remain in danger as long as it continued its current policies, Islamic State said in a statement.

"To teach France, and all nations following its path, that they will remain at the top of Islamic State’s list of targets, and that the smell of death won’t leave their noses as long as they partake in their crusader campaign," said the group.

French President Francois Hollande said the violence was organized from abroad by Islamic State with internal help.
