I don't "know" you, Waddles, but I am so happy to read your post!

I saw many concerned WSers posting about you tonight....well, I guess it is morning now. I haven't slept, lol.

So happy you are safe. :)

We have never met here, Waddles, but I have often seen you around. My thoughts immediately went to you and Zweibel. Thank you for checking in. I am glad you are OK, but so sad that you know people tragically affected by this. Please know that many here care and send our support. :grouphug:

For all who have friends or relatives in this area, you are in my thoughts. Words alone do not express the depth of my feelings.

On fox they were saying the strategy seems to be to attack one location and draw/tie up the local security forces, then start hitting other targets at leisure.

The bomb outside of the soccer stadium with the president attending, was that the first attack? Because that would certainly draw all of the security force's attention.

"The Islamic State appears to be claiming responsibility for multiple attacks in Paris on Friday night that killed at least 127 people and wounded dozens of others.

Here’s part of the statement from the group, translation for which was provided by SITE, which tracks militant organizations:

Let France and those who walk in its path know that they will remain on the top of the list of targets of the Islamic State, and that the smell of death will never leave their noses as long as they lead the convoy of the Crusader campaign, and dare to curse our Prophet, Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, and are proud of fighting Islam in France and striking the Muslims in the land of the Caliphate with their planes, which did not help them at all in the streets of Paris and its rotten alleys. This attack is the first of the storm and a warning to those who wish to learn."

Sonya, Yes the first attack was the three suicide bombers who detonated themselves outside of the Stadium.

Colin de France and all French WS members here, please know that all of France's sons and daughters have the support and are in the prayers of so very many Americans today. Know that we grieve with you for the senseless loss of innocent lives.

Stay strong and stay safe.

My heart aches for all the victims, their families and all the people of Paris. What a horrible event that has shaken up the world. I lived near NY in 2001 and remember the fear and unsettling feelings those first few days after 9/11. This is bringing up some of those feelings with me again. This nonsense has effected the world. Let's all put out prayers and positive energy into the universe asking that all people find peace in this tragic time.

I recall one of the first 3 speeches given by President Bush in the aftermath of 9/11. He said that this war against Islamic terrorists would take possibly 20-30 years or longer. I have watched with shock and awe how the media managed to convince Americans that getting out was the best thing to do and that we were 'tired' of the war on terror. That short-sighted train of thought still scares me. Fight 'em where ever you want, but they are still fighting us. Ever since the Barbary Coast pirates. Before Israel, before Western culture was sent around the world on TV and radio. They simply want us dead. So is it going to be us or them?
