I don't quite understand, why Karen opened a new own bank account, although she just had filed for divorce. If the opening of an account is still difficult for an expat with two nationalities, wouldn't it be more difficult to be in a divorce, have it finished someday in the future and perhaps have even changed the surname?
Did the bank perhaps (to demonstrate their power) secretly also contact her husband in South Africa, even though it wasn't necessary?
Two things were happening:
- Karen planning to buy own apartment
- Karen opening an own account at a local bank with JFG helping her.
So, JMO, Karen was moving financially from her husband.
JMO: If the gite was the C’s common business, maybe a new solo apartment would allow her to open an own one? I assume it is more than possible in France for married women, like everywhere else in Europe. One probably needs a local lawyer to set it up, but here is where JFG’s advice could be enough. A small private business in France, he’d know all ins and outs, methinks.
So she was moving away from AC financially, but I always wondered if JFG’s helping her was a sign of them being “more than close” and someone took notice.
