I found an article in a local publication that I found interesting (written buy a guy with a a talk/radio show in Augusta). I don't think I can link to it here (since it's not main stream media?) but he notes that "Christmas may arrive before crime lab results are in hand." The publication is Metro Spirit, and the quoted line is the name of the article if you are interested in googling/reading it. While this is written about the delay of results in Andrya's case, I imagine it applies all across the nation. Many cases are not solved in a timely manner because of lab backlogs. It's just really sad in this case and many others.

"COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – News 12 has learned investigators with Columbia County are searching a next door neighbor's house in connection to the Andrya Deghelder murder case.
Captain Morris says the lead came from police work and not an outside source.
Forensic results are still pending from GBI and FBI.
Investigators are hoping the lab results will reveal blood and DNA evidence that will help propel the case forward.

So, he's been denied bond on the new felony charge ("Felony Possession of a Firearm as a Convicted Felon"), which is a new charge since the original shoplifting charge for which he was arrested. It's great to see a case moving forward; so often that is not how it goes...

Whether or not he is responsible for Andrya DeGhelder's murder, I'm glad LE have gotten this creep off the streets (and out of his house where I believe there is a child).

This article is nearly a year old (I thought I posted this at that time), but the POI in Andrya’s murder was sentenced to life in another unrelated case. At least he is off the streets until he can be properly charged and sentenced in Andrya’s case.
