Watcher9, we now know about the cinder blocks, but I can remember shoe imprints taken of all LE/CSI at the crime scene. The imprints were not taken until a few days after the investigation began. Imo, the prints of concern may have been taken from the location where the man was spotted by the witness and SS was attempting to rule out any LE footprints..

EXCLUSIVE: Sheriff says Reynolds Plantation couple killed with different weapons

“This is a very difficult case, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have forensic evidence. We’re running down leads today,” said Sills. “We’ve got fingerprints, we’ve got hairs, we’ve got fibers, we’ve got all matter of forensic evidence that we’ve collected from the house.”

Sills said they’ve also collected several other items of significance to the case that he can’t talk about.

so in other words, they've got him

HES JUST NOT IN THE DATABASE

I think we talked about this already but it never hurts to do it again!

The pictures of the house when it was for sale showed a two car garage - two doors - next to the screened porch.

So, was the description wrong in the write-up or was there a separate garage space located elsewhere? Some houses have a garage door off their basement area that could be used for a lawnmower, etc but would also house a car or boat if need be. If that is the case here, then the description is right.

it appears to be a 2 car garage, the walls on either side of the metal doors doesn't look big enough to even house another garage door or another car

http://www.13wmaz.com/story/news/lo...ills-dermond-home-returned-to-family/9483813/

Sills discussed the case in detail with Anita Oh, saying:

--Finding Shirley Dermond's body in the lake has convinced him that the couple's killers arrived at their home over the water: "Somebody came by boat for a fact."
And while Sills' investigators have scoured the Great Waters neighborhood for security cameras pointed toward the lake, they haven't found an image of the killers or anything else unusual.
--He also believes more than one person took part in the killings. "Could 1 person do it? Sure, but the circumstances and evidences lead me to believe it was a minimum of 2 people."

--There is "definitely no doubt about it" that Russell Dermond's head was cut off and Shirley's body dumped was to "conceal evidence, buy time and obstruct roadblocks in our investigation. Does it show depravity? Yes, but it was for self-preservation of whoever done it.."

one of the few times I agree with him lol, not that I think i know more, but because of mostly bad reporting or descriptions

I wonder if 2 cap blocks are missing from a garden wall nearby

that wuold indeed seem to imply that dumping shirley was a last minute decision

Watcher9, although there are only two garage doors the garage dimensions would allow for ample space to park 3 vehicles, imo..

Is there only one gate to the entire complex (subdivision and golf course and swimming pool, tennis and clubhouse) or are there separate accesses to the different amenities?
Is this gate/gates always manned 24/7?

gorgeous home for sure, here's a good pic of the view of 2 neighbors, one of them witnessed the man on the lawn if lakeside, was thinking that's where he was seen

also appears you COULD park a boat on the cove side of the dock behind portable boat lift, with that awning and dock, might not be noticed at all
http://www.trulia.com/homes/Georgia/Eatonton/sold/1000886826-147-Carolyn-Dr-Eatonton-GA-31024

the garage is larger but only by a few feet, there is no room for another door, which may be standard in larger homes or any homes these days, but not sure how another car could get in with 2 already in there

transfer has been made I see, to new owner

I agree, this is nothing like TV. This is tragic reality..
Wish I had a nickel for every time I have heard the statement.. 'Justice delayed is justice denied'.. If the FBI has stepped back from the Dermond investigation. After over a year unsolved, or no motive in sight, it would seem that Putnam Co., Sheriff Howard Sills would now request the GBI's investigative resources and assistance. jmo

How do you sleuth a secure gated community missing a head and a woman, both in their 80's? We have so very little information, we can't even find a path to try to follow. It seems important to me that the kids went home so quickly. It seems beyond possible for one person to do this and in a gated community like this and no one has seen a stranger anywhere. I think if there is answer found for this, we'll all be very surprised by the who and the why. It seems professional to me. I have no clue why or how..that information is being held close to the vest by LE, IMO ^i^

Maybe there is another garage for lawnmowers, boat, jet skis etc on the basement level. That is common. It would not show up in the footprint on qpublic.

Damifino, that's what I am thinking also. There must be another garage opening somewhere around the house that we can't see at the right angle.

Looking at houses that have a two door garage, it usually has a three feet area on each side that could hold shelves, etc and enable car doors to open. The space in the middle would wide enough to hold a riding lawnmower if you wanted one in there. You would have to back a car out to be able to get the riding lawnmower out though. No way a third car could fit in it.

If you look at the legend on the side of the footprint at the first link in Foxfire's post, it shows a duplicate for each color section which makes it seem like the two floors are the same - unless, that is a mistake by the Putnam County tax assessors office.

Looking through the Trulia.com pictures that dancinunderthemoon posted in link #207, there are two pics that show an unfinished area that looks big enough to be at least half the house. Maybe that is where the third garage is located. I hope someone here has saved all of these pictures because they may get removed from the website now that someone else owns the property.

The Tax Assessor's qpublic description and footprint shows a one story house with an unfinished basement. We know that is incorrect from the photos on the real estate listings. There is a big den and a bedroom and bath downstairs and an unfinished area with the water heaters, etc. A quick and dirty add up of the dimensions of the footprint comes up to Sq. ft. of the main floor only.

You are right that the dimensions come up to the size of the main floor.
It's crazy but when I clicked on it before writing my post this morning, it showed two of every thing. I didn't try to add them because I figured they were listing it for both floors in one legend. There were two main floors, two garages, four open porches, etc. When I clicked on it again before writing this post, it shows what you were saying. No double of anything. I guess it was just hiccuping or playing tricks when I was on it this morning.

All this talk in the news today about not being able to monitor phone calls any more except for ongoing investigations made me think.

What if the man was out in the yard trying to get a signal for or talking on a cell phone?
What if that area was being monitored at the time for any calls made to or from the area?
Is there any way they could backtrack to the tower serving the Dermond residence for any cell phones used in the suspected time period? What about the tower serving the part of the lake where Mrs D was found?

Watcher9, guess if this was possible Sheriff Sills, would have been all over it long before now. Due to the weekend guests participation of the Kentucky Derby parties, combined with the high density populations of RP/GW, Ritz Carlton, Lake Oconee communities, and the proximity to I-20. Imo, this may not have been feasible.

Due to the many indicators that the perp/s responsible for the Dermond murders were organized and forensic and investigative aware. Imo, they would have gone forensically dark during the commission of this well planned and meticulously executed crime..

There is a portion unfinished in the basement, with water heaters, I was scanning for a cinder cap block as I was viewing the images of this room online. Couldn't tell if there was a garage type door but possible, it was large enough for a car

YOu could be right about the cell phone signal, I have to do that at my sisters place on sinclair sometimes, over the years the signal is better but different carriers, it can be better or worse, and there is a lot of dead areas around this area of GA, JMO, good thought tho, I dont' know about the tracing etc, but I kept racking my brain trying to figure why the heck he was on the lawn

Was it determined if it was the lakeside or the front yard he was seen? Somehow I don't think, if it's front at the roadside, anyone would have seen him but better view from lakeside, always what I had in my mind but don't have links to back this up

Remember that it took weeks or months to get cellphone records and when he (SS) did it was a huge amount. Also in the article that Joe Kovak did in the Atlanta Magazine, he talked about catching a perp with a cell ping.
