He doesn't have enough sense and self-control to have committed the Dermond murders.

He's just one of those nutjobs that should have been locked away years ago. The justice system knows he's mental, but nobody wants to pay the tab to keep him in a psych ward.

Let's hope they keep him in Putnam County lockup for a while and on his medications. Maybe he had a run-in with Mr. Dermond or Mrs. Dermond. Maybe Mr. Dermond had offered to pay him to do some odd jobs. He could have watched the Dermond home. He knew when the daughter left and he could have known about the Kentucky Derby party although I seriously doubt he was invited.

I wonder if he was the person seen in the Dermond's yard by the lake. Let's hope SS gets an alibi on him. I don't have a good feeling about him.

He could have been running around with the knife and stumbled on the Dermonds, he sounds wacky enough for the murders.

First time I've read that SS thought the killers might have been to the Dermond home prior to the murders.

If that guy in the picture up there is the hottest lead Sills has had in the last year and a half, this case isn't ever going to get solved.

I'm convinced this case will never be solved unless someone simply steps up and admits to it, and even then their story will have to be corroborated with what little evidence Sills does have.

If Sills is really lucky, maybe an informant or a jailhouse snitch will overhear something and notify him what was said. Short of that...........not gonna happen.

I gotta say, I thought this case would have been solved by now. Lack of motive. Clean crime scene. Not a lot to go on for LE. I wonder if the children are keeping in touch with Sills, or if they hired a PI?? This is just sad and Mr. Dermond still doesn't have his head.

IIRC, one of the suspicions was that the suspect may have been living with parents so was in and out of their house. This is an example of how that may have worked. Not saying this is the guy,

Sad still no arrests

I think someone with drug addiction or mental illness would have left more evidence behind. Been sloppier. This was planned, IMO. And money isn't motivation for tips because only the killers know.

Will be happy to one day see arrests and learn the motive behind this gruesome crime.

WOW, 2 weirdos in just a few days, I guess if SS has any dna or atleast prints from the crime scene, hopefully, so atleast these 2 are in the system now, can find a match if either are involved, .........Unless SS is bluffing about prints and dna collected from crime scene, god I hope not, and hope what's collected isn't just family and victims prints only

Did he say he had prints and DNA or did we assume that when he said that he had some evidence that would link to the perp if they got him?I hope he has both!!!

I just have a feeling that whomever committed these two murders will kill again and be found out. OR, maybe even arrested for a minor crime or violation and get caught through the database.

I hope Sills meant it when he stated there was evidence. IMO, there needs to be a new set of eyes on this case.

Sills says he believes whoever killed the Dermonds left Russell Dermond’s headless body where it would be found, but never planned for Shirley Dermond’s remains to float to the surface of the lake and be discovered.

It's hard to read Sills. Was he being snarky about having fingerprints? We KNOW he got fingerprints, for sure Mr. and Mrs. Dermond's fingerprints, but did he get fingerprints that he can't put with a known person? ? :gaah:

Thanks for finding that info about the evidence.

If both the fingerprints and hair(DNA) are from a perp(s), they should have been entered into the national websites for any matches. I would hope he has entered them and not just trying to bluff his way through on his own.

Sometimes I think about this case by imagining it being featured, two or three years down the road, on some true-crime show -- after it has been solved.

I try to envision how the story will unfold...the long, dry spell with no apparent leads...then, what? Just one way of trying to prod my brain into figuring out "What happened here?"

Trouble is -- it stays foggy. I can't seem to come up with a likely solution to unfold in that show somewhere down the road...!

I just checked in a few days ago to see if there was any new info concerning R.O.G. arrest. Decided to do a little digging and found a criminal gun charge against him in Orlando.

While looking around in Georgia, I believe I stumbled upon his close relative's job in Eatonton. I'm not from the area, but online documents certainly piqued my interest, as certain things reminded me of where Shirley's body was found in the lake. I compared on a map, and boy, it sure looks like his office was right on the lake by the location of Mrs. Dermond. Also, the specific job would certainly lend itself to having information about where in the lake might be a good place to hide a body and most certainly, boat access.

I know there are rules about what we can and can't post here so that's all I'll say. And in all fairness, I have no idea how the lake is laid out, where businesses are, etc. so it is quite possible that the area where the body was found is where there are alot of people's offices who work in this specific field. Could totally be a coincidence...

Oh, and I'm in no way thinking that the family member had anything to do with the Dermond's case. Just simply saying someone close to him (ROG) might certainly be able to access all the information available from his job.
