Maybe the friend or family member called them later in the night and told them they'd be in the area which would explain the Dermonds not telling anyone they were expecting company. Kind of like a last minute visit from someone close to them

Will have to search but I KNOW there was mention that the D's PERSONAL HOME SECURITY had been tampered with the weeks before the Murders, also as we all know, the GW security system at gate had failed

The daughter had visited a week before the murders for Easter I think, they may have all attended church, not sure exactly when she arrived or when she left, maybe kids were on spring break? NC spring break? since there is no more Easter holiday I think it's spring break

For the most part people still think it was a one off thing related to their history. People still mention it, sure, but it isn't the talk of the town like a serial killer would be. Which brings me to my thoughts on SS's past.

The Nuwaubians were a crazed group of individuals, and it's my belief that had they not been taken eventually they would've turned into the next Waco or Ruby Ridge. That being said, if someone really wanted to get back at SS for something, I feel like they would have been causing much more than 1 seemingly random, albeit vicious, attack. They would've caused more unsolved issues.

That makes sense but then again............THIS one is horrendous! Enough trauma and stress for one man to last a lifetime. IDK...........i go back and forth.....but it's more real possibility to me now than ever before...........

Did someone say FF died of heart attack? It's weird so many elite deaths happned all starting within weeks of the D's, I know they've been solved now just weird maybe there's a peircing darkness over Putnam County, thanks Cherokee

I assume SS isn't afraid of the cult since he has already busted their leader and he's in jail for life. I'm sure he keeps tabs on those who stayed in the county . I reread the posts on FB again and noticed the date of the posting is over a year from the murders and I am thinking they might be taking credit for something they had nothing to do with. Sure it could be a cult as Keith Dermond said at the beginning and beheading is what they do but why pick someone who has nothing to do with SS ? I still keep going back in my mind to when SS said he has hairs, fibers and all forms of evidence including dna yet he has no person of interest no suspects, no theory as to who killed this couple. I find it hard to believe he doesn't know how this happened exactly date time and the reason why weapons used etc. SS is playing a cat and mouse game. Technology is so advanced now that with the evidence he claims to have he knows the killer or killers. SS once said the Dermonds knew their killers enough to open the door for them and I doubt they knew or dealt with any cult members. here's my theory sorry if it sounds like rambling

Mrs Dermond answers a knock at the door and lets in the killer ( friend or family) They sit and chat for awhile before Mr Dermond comes downstairs . The visitor excuses himself to use the bathroom but instead opens a backdoor or a window for his help to enter. From here once the killer or killers arrive either by boat or car they enter the kitchen or living room or den or wherever and corner the Dermonds. This is where they take their time in executing their carefully thought out plan which probably took all day and they left at dusk.

Another theory is and this is out there but possible.

They say the Dermonds were religious about the alarm being on. What if someone close to them said " hey we'll be arriving late at night could you make sure the alarm is off so we can let ourselves in" Yes it seems crazy but it could also explain nothing in the house being stolen, no struggle, nothing missing and the beheading and would explain why SS said they knew their killers enough to let them in at the least. Could also be the reason they knew the area well enough to arrive by car and leave by boat, to know the security camera at the gate wasn't working. The person out on the front lawn I am guessing is someone close to the family and just couldn't watch them being killed or maybe a lookout.

I just think there is too much planning for this to be a cult hit. I might be wrong but I like my theories as crazy as they sound

THey Hockyguy, well for starters, didnt mean to imply the FB POSTER we saw WAS THE KILLER, no, that post just made things more clear for me the disdain he or other group if not all group members have for SS............I havne't read much on the cult theory or D"s case in a while due to family members medical issues and caretaking..............so now things seem clearer to me, the location of MRs D, the dam, the car theory, of course boat and car is possible to me, but not just car....and now this guys' post, i dont recall reading posts that showed such clear disdain for SS..........so that is real and a possibility..........i am not set on any one theory just stronger realizations

Are the case files closed at this time due to it being an open investigatioN? or has enough time passed, would love to see the intital police reports! dreaming probably sealed TIGHT if SS has anuthing to do with it

I had never read THIS guy's post before this week and just stumbled upon it searching fb.....I've read other posts that seemed eery but I haave not seen one so direct at SS.......ive always gone back and forth from this possibility and the family link but over the past year and a half I've not been reading on this case much due to taking care of my family member after a stroke, so IM rehashing

well this whole case is "OUT THERE" no reason to believe it was anyone close to the family YET we do not know WHO so we must assume it could be anyone and anything...within reason of course but somebody killed them with the appearance of some great disdain for them or putnam co, who knows!

Was she the one that was reinterviewed?That broke down when SS used a little more abrupt questioning or however he worded it......So she just forgot to set it? How does that work? Did it go off? Does their system alarm the police or just make a racket like the tornado drills? LOL..How did the LE know it had been an issue.........

Officials said that based on their investigation, they have been able to narrow the time-frame of the crime to somewhere between 4:30 p.m., on Friday, May 2 – when the mail was delivered – to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, when the couple did not show up for a party.

Man on the lawn Friday afternoon or saturday?? Daytime?? Either way it was light enough for someone to see him

Is it typical that LE keeps information from the public on a "person of interest" or "suspect" or do they typically try to give the public a description if not a sketch? I just wonder what race he was and maybe that's why there is nothing shared with the public? just tossing ideas around, I do find it odd there is no more given, as FF said, if the witness could tell it was a man,they surely saw more and must've thought him out of place or suspicious at the time to have even noticed him.

Im well aware LE doesnt share all with the public but this tidbit seems VERY important, that we need all eyes keeping watch or maybe someone else knew something....Dont know if this eyewitness came before or after the GW meeting adn interviews by LE after the D's murders.........

Russell and SHirley Dermond purchased the home on Huntcliff Trce on 3/17/1980 sold it 19 years later fro almost double the value on 4/17/1999 wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of ATL...2 weeks after Easter SUnday APril 4

Russell and SHirley Dermond bought the lot at 147 Carolyn Dr Eatonton Aug 2, 1994, according to tax records built and completed the home sometime in 1999.................with the sale date above, I wonder if they were moving in end of APril first part of may 1999

The Dermond's son Mark Dermond was murdered in ATL on Aug 29 2000,

I found his residence to be 147 Carolyn Dr Eatonton, GA, I believe prior to that he also shared his parents address in Sandy Springs

Major filed a motion for new trial on November 29, 2001, and an amended motion on April 15, 2004.   The motion was denied on April 5, 2005, and Major filed a notice of appeal on May 2, 2005.   His timely appeal was docketed in this Court on January 9, 2006 and submitted for decision on the briefs.

I don't know if it was her that broke down during the interview but it could be her. I'm not even sure if the questioning was about the alarm but I think it was. Maybe she came up with a lame excuse or denied it was her that didn't set the alarm. Hearing how the dermonds were about the alarm setting makes me think this might be a non issue though since they know how to set the alarm. I would love to know when the last time that was deactivated
