A poacher, someone who knows how to travel on the water (even at night) and would know the area where Shirley's body was placed....

I wish we knew more about the nets.

Any fisherman could have nets in his boat unless they were "special", or are nets not typical??

Maybe I'm just confusing myself by reading through the older threads but was Foxfire on the right track with his post below? (Was he thinking the perps possibly entered the Dermond property from another dock? Does this thought coincide with the search of the wooded property across the street?? (2nd link)) What was it that lead LE to search the wooded area??

"Noticed that one of the security cameras of the Dermond's neighbor was focused on the D's dock, yet this is not the critical area of concern. The camera footage of the critical area of concern was sent to the FBI for tweeking..
Interesting.....the critical area of focus must be the undeveloped wooded property searched by LE a week ago adjacent to the Dermond's home.. It would be reasonable to conclude that LE has info indicating that the perp/s did not enter the Dermond's property via their dock..imo"

I'd like to know where they were killed since SS thinks they weren't killed inside the house I assume that means the whole property since they would have combed that whole lot . If there was a gunshot it had to be in the woods. Does anyone have a picture of the front of the dermonds house from far away? I'd like to see the houses nearest them. and the area in front of their house. To kill Mr D outside the house and then bring him back in would be a huge risk that I just don't think they would make . Could have both been killed in the bath tub . Anyways i'd love to see the area around the dermonds house.

I've looked at a few homes on Westview Way (across from Carolyn Dr) searching for realty photos with possible views of the Dermond's, but didn't find anything of value. Heck, I even looked at photos of wooded lots for sale... and only saw pics of... trees. Duhh-me!

Do you believe SS when he says he doesn't know the exact location of the murders?? At the moment, I do, but this opinion could be swayed.

The home and surrounding areas were searched with cadaver dogs, right?? (I can't remember )

ETA: Do any of the photos here show the Dermond home/lot? (specifically 31) And, 33 appears to be golf course.

Also, is that a "decorative" safe shown in photo 30??

That is a big safe. It could be a gun safe even.

I wonder if the perps went to the wrong house in the cove?

I would think Mr D was killed near enough to the house that he could be dragged into the garage but Mrs D could have been killed in the boat.

Wow!! It really is a safe. Are those big ol' things common in most households/home businesses?? Obviously, I haven't been safe-shopping lately... uhmm... I mean, ever!

Yep watcher9, it certainly makes me wonder if they went to the wrong home!

Either way, I agree about "where" M/M were possibly murdered. I've always thought she was alive and forced to walk to the boat... but that's just a guess on my part.

ETA: Video of the home (appears to be same photos that were on the website)

I know LE initially was looking for possibly shirley's body and Mr D's head in the wooded areas around their home...

I think that LE was just hoping the neighbors security cameras would have picked up something on teh dermond's property during this crime, all the neighbors secuirty cameras were checked IIRC

not typically in ga lakes

landing nets with a handle to help bring large fish into the boat or onto dock once caught on fishing line and fishing baskets to store your fish in that hangs in the water while you continue to fish and before you clean them are typically what is used on the lakes in GA.....casting nets are typically used to catch crab and shrimp on the coastal waters.......and to catch large number of fish or whatever at one time....I dont think this is legal in ga waters so that's why he would have said POACHERs.....there are rules for fishing......here's a link to ga fishing methods....http://www.eregulations.com/georgia/fishing/fishing-methods/......

Hockey guy, I think their ONLY nieghbor was lot over, rather a wooded lot was between them on the same side of street, lakefront.....so there was a wooded lot to the left and to the right and across the streeet, check out google maps...they had no neighbors

and gunshots in the lake areas are TYPICAL and remember, the ONLY neighbor, the one a lot over on their side of street was in Asia according to the latest info from sworn podcast....so the ONLY neighbor wasnt there to come running over to make sure everyone was ok and across the lake, they wont even bother, whether in a cove or big water, doesnt matter and you cannot tell where the sound is coming from

BUT the only neighbor being in asia is very interesting because they'd have been the only ones who may have EVEN possibly heard or questioned it had they heard it IMO

DOes anyone remember that the neighbors lawn guys heard loud talking coming from the dermonds home on Saturday?

Wasn't the Dermonds the only house in the cove on Carolyn Dr?

yes

Also want to say, IF THIS INFORMATION HAD BEEN MENTIONED EARLY ON, someone may have looked for or noticed something like this,THIS IS NOT something i see on GA lakes...people arne't casting nets for fish!! There are many ways to fish in ga lakes but not this way... we all chattered and pondered how the blocks were tied or how and what kind of blocks and here after all this time, we find out they werent just tied and tethered, but wrapped with fish netting material... Im still stunned this wasn't brought to the attention of the public, not everyone thinks of poachers but to see a casting NET, anyone could have seen that and may have thought it odd especially had the public known.....this is why i keep bringing it up, not that someone doesnt have any netting on their boat in ga as they might fish coastal as well but typically not seen.....buoys coolers, fishing rods, tackle box, landing nets with handle for helping bring in a big catch on a line, minnow nets, minnow buckets, fish baskets of metal material, cricket cages, and such are typical and seen often ...
Very interesting! Is that the type of netting that SD was wrapped in or weighted with?

Foxfire felt certain that the murders were the work of the local Nuwambian cult. In fact, a whole different thread was dedicated to just that cult.

In fact, I have never seen a person so insistent that the cult was responsible.
Personally, I couldn't see it. It just never made sense to me.

In pic 25, you can see the cove but , this is winter......you can see SO MUCH more than in spring/summer when trees leaves block everything especilly with this many trees.....I've looked at public tax records on these homes before....someone across cove would have had to be in their yard closer to waters edge or on the dock to witness anything at all IMO, especially with trees in full bloom, from the house or on the deck im still surprised they saw anything much less could tell it was a man and if on the dock they'd have had a much better description........and maybe they do who knows, we aren't getting much detail....

btw...do we have an idea WHICH house the witness was at? I know the sworn podcast started talking about the trees across the cove I think then switched to saying" look over here", i think referring to next door lot and the view thru the trees

Wow what luck the killers have. They picked the right time with the cameras being knocked out and the only neighbor away in Asia. Hmm maybe it wasn't luck and more like opportunity. Wasn't the person spotted on the lawn in the front yard?

  • #398
I know!! Perfect timing I'd say, what luck.............ok, i think I asked before, was it lakeside? or front lawn, I really dont think anyone could witness them in teh front Hockeyguy, there was a wooded lot between them and the family who were in asia but i do remember hearing ealry on the lawn people ro someonthing at the neighbro heard loud talking coming from teh D's on saturday, dont see how anyone could anyone on the law except lakeside but I coudl be wrong.

another thing I was pondering while kayaking in floriday this week LOL................IF in fact it was a case of mistaken identity or mistaken house............all i have to say is...............the BUNGLING IDIOTS haven't returned to do the job of whomever it was they were supposed to kill

2....the idiot killers have probably gotten the most severe of punishment and are dead themselves

3...All they had to do was look on the tax records and look on googlemaps on cell phone to find 147 carolyn Dr.... HEY GUYS IT"S ON THE RIGHT Side after you enter the cove, last house, here's a picture from water

Im sorry, I may be wrong but Im not buying much of anything other than someone wanted them dead and the person who did, was likely kin or it was some form of warning or punishment aimed at someone kin

the truth may be something real simple really, like many other cases have turned out to be

Fredandedna....answer to cadaver dogs.....................Authorities have searched Lake Oconee in the vicinity of the Dermonds' home -- turning up only a lawn chair and a Christmas tree -- and sent cadaver dogs into the nearby woods, to no avail, Sills said. Police have also spoken to neighbors, family and friends.

Im not REAL sure what the appraised value of 147 Carolyn Dr is/was/should have been, but even if it sold for 100k or even 200k less, the family still received their net inheritance probably 180k each from sale of home plus we have no idea what the elderly Dermonds had in stocks/bonds/cash/coins/gold/guns/jewelry etc..........for all we know they had millions in stocks.........so did the heirs REALLY LOSE ANYTHING ? Even if the house was sold undervalue, all heirs GAINED....whatever you don't have and is given to you.............it's gravy
