Anyone ever heard of the murders of Mr and Mrs Haysom in VA? There was talk among the community of a cult being involved due to the crime scene. Turns out, their daughter and her boyfriend were convicted of the murders. I don't know if family ever stated it might be a cult in that case or not. Been many years ago... I think around 89 or early 90's.

WOW

gotta look up that Greensboro property

OMG

No APPARENT motive at this time
Nothing taken
not known to the victims (maybe slightly acquainted)
wanted to borrow something
opened front door and let him in
first murder
hunter/surgeon/or young man has been killing and dismembering animals
they'll be quiet for a while
then strike again
WHY IS SILLS saying there is no need to panic
When he says he is stumped
he thinks that someone they KNEW did this, or acquaintence
multiple jurisdiction (greene county)
inside homes or random locations
THEN
they could have been targeted for someTHING they KNOW by someone they know
OR
targeted by a serial killer acquaintenance

that's talking out of both sides of your mouth IMO !

I don't remember this being discussed but I think it kind of strange if this murderer was planned it was planned on a Friday/Saturday.

Most folks finish up work on a Friday and head to the lake for the weekend. It's the busiest time...the weekend.

To me a planned killing would be during quiet days of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday but NOT on the weekend.

when all leads are exhausted, they will go back to looking at family

case I'm watching, no suspects, no enemies, nicest man you'd meet, wife did it, but they exhausted all other avenues which led back to family, ultimately wife in THIS case

If the killer lives in the community he possibly has a wife that was leaving town for the weekend. That would be his chance to be out all night and do the killings.
IMO it was done Fri eve and completed before day break. I really cant imagine the lake being busy at all during those times. I really don't think the killer had any idea if they were expecting company Sat. morn or when the body and missing person would be discovered. Went there did the killings under the covering of darkness and got the heck out of there.

Now you are making me think hard. I always thought of our lakehouse and how exciting the weekends were with family and company arriving on Fridays and the bonfire out by the lake and all the fun we had all weekend.

I never, never thought of somebody leaving. Excellent point.

Not only a wife but also now I am thinking parents leaving for the weekend and that would be prime time. They left Friday afternoon and he put his plan into motion shortly after.

I hope LE has checked up on that if they can. I wonder if that was one of the questions in the questionnaire they had residents fill out.

I feel brain dead to not have thought of departures!

I am still looking for a Sigg or Gardner type. I just am!

Someone asked earlier if we know anything about what the Dermonds may have owned. That caused me to remember that Spokeo.com lists property on Cedar Ridge Drive in Greensboro, GA in his name. Not sure if he owned this at the time of his death. I wonder if he purchased it at the same time that he purchased the lot in GW. Looking on google earth you can see how near this is to their home in GW. It's just a little north and on the other side of the lake.

I just checked all property on Cedar Ridge Dr and Greene County Tax Assessor does NOT show the Dermonds ever owning property there.

All I know is...............
"The FBI always gets it's/their man."

Not always. There was a Ponzi trial May 2014 in Georgia and the ex-football coach walked away a free man. Coincidence, this trial started the same day the Dermonds were found.

Lesson learned: Great attorneys!

Good morning to this great crew! I am hoping in my heart that the reason it's so quiet is because Sills is working this very, very hard...and we all know it takes time to get some results. I admire this Sheriff very much and don't like people saying disparaging things about him on here. I don't know him personally but if something like this happened in my family, I would want him on the job. I'm holding out on faith, but I think once they determine what the weapon is and get through those questionnaires, things will get narrowed down. I hope, hope, hope!

Hmmm... little chance they rented a property there at some time. I don't know. The site listed Shirley's name and two of the sons, so I figured it was this Mr. D. There is also a Cedar Ridge Court but the Spokeo site did say Cedar Ridge Drive. It only caught my attention because it is just across (well, a little north, but near) the lake (but not on the lake) from the GW home.

Tongue-Cutter Pleads Guilty to Murder

By WKRG Staff

The man who cut part of his own tongue off to distract detectives plead guilty to murder Tuesday.

Michael Crocker was sentenced to 19 years in prison for the 2007 murder of Stephen Perret.

Crocker was accused of stealing more than $1 million and using it for other ventures. Investigators say Perret learned about the embezzlement, which is why he was murdered by Crocker.

Crocker infamously cut a portion of his tongue off in an attempt to divert the murder invinvestigation his favor, investigators have said.

Crocker was also sentenced to an additional year in jail for tax evasion.

This is interesting because if Mr. or Mrs. Dermond found out something like this about a friend or associate it could be hard for LE to discover because it would not show up in their own financial record. I still don't know how a beheading could fit in to such a motive, but I guess it's possible if the perp. was very angry.

What is the name of the closest road to this spot? I am assuming this is a public marina. Is it Putnam or Greene county ?

There isn't much traffic on the lake at all!

It's a very quiet lake. look for Collis Road. It's in Putnam, the view is toward the north, toward the Hwy 44 bridge.

The closest land across the water on the left is Cuscowilla. To get to the Dermonds house, you would go right and it's not far at all. This used to be a public commmercial marina. It's now a part of the Condo development called Waterside. Haven't been there lately, but I assume they would be happy to sell gas, etc. to anybody. Not sure if the boat ramp there is open all the time.
