I think he does not want to get barraged with questions. The media can be very nasty and god forbid they quote you or video you saying something the least bit wrong. Just look at the wild headlines going around. It is all about the click bait.

Plus, it seems those who knew the Hackmans had a lot of respect for them, and knew privacy seemed very important to them and they want to honor that by not putting grisly details in the press. I’m sure it was not a pretty sight to put it mildly, and was traumatizing, too. MOO

I don't see any connection with "foul play". It won't have been a pretty sight, that's for sure.

I also just took it that he meant the bodies were not a pretty sight to come across in the state of decomposing they were in. He probably still has nightmares about it. Traumatic.

He could have died on a different day, that's all they've released at this point on the timeline. More will be revealed when they talk about other records, phones, computers, etc.. They were apparently 1000 ft. above Santa Fe which is a high in elevation city as it is. Does anyone know if a necropsy was done on the crated/closeted dog? I read an account on msn that says there wasn't, which really surprised me if true! I would think even though it seemed obvious why the dog died, that there could be additional factors to consider, such as poisoning.

true. I forgot he probably wouldnt have known they were dead and went to check for a pulse. that would definitely be traumatic

I doubt he looked for a pulse when he saw mummified hands and decomposition, not to mention the smell. And since he had no idea if it were a crime scene, I hope he knew not to touch anything.

It is strange then, as msn and AP which I attached both said no necropsy done. Gene Hackman's dog was misidentified as other mysteries swirl around actor's death

It did read like that but maybe their long term contractor, Jesse Kessler who arrived at the scene got the door opened by the time LE arrived?
If it was locked he may have had the code or a key being he was with the Hagmans contractor for 16 years?
In his statement he said he will never speak about what he saw when he entered the home so we know that he did enter but don't know if it was before or after LE arrived.

MOO, I doubt they'd do one at this point, considering how long ago Zinna died. I'm curious why people would expect one in this case. They're most commonly done when there's a public health interest (i.e., to see if a farm animal in a herd who dies suddenly had a disease that could have spread to the rest of the herd or humans), if there's a legal or insurance issue (i.e., to see if a prized and valuable ($) horse was poisoned by a rival horse breeder) or if the owner wants to know why a beloved healthy pet died suddenly. Is there a thought that Zinna had a zoonotic disease like rabies that killed Gene and Betsy?

Or, was he in the house after police arrived? Either way doesn't seem like proper protocol. Is the 911 call available for us to hear?

Going from memory, 911asked if he could unlock the door (for responders), perhaps he helped gain entrance, like through a doggy door, to open the door from the inside, for first responders.

It was the caretaker for the subdivision who called 911 , was that Jesse Kesler?

I can't remember exactly, but it's been unseasonably warm. However, the Hackman's home is at a higher elevation than mine. The Weather Underground site is an excellent source for weather history. It's made up of amateur local weather people. The Santa Fe weather Feb 5 - 17 according to Weather Underground saw no precipitation (meaning sunny), temps 28 - 58. Not especially windy. In other words, very pleasant during the day. Cold at night.
