This is one reason why I've been so angry about the misrepresentation by the media, stating as a fact that she died a week before him. They like to put out the worst possible interpretation.

And why would they make specific assessments before they had the phone results? I mentioned it upthread and this is why they should not have done a timeline without looking at their phones. That’s common sense so what were they thinking?

... and my maternal Grandmother who lived and died in London ON, in her Will, stipulated her son (one of two children) would get most of her modest estate ONLY if he divorced his wife of many years. That friction caused my Uncle and his wife to divorce. My Mother got a toaster and some token % of the estate. Pretty brutal I'd say...

Nice to meet a fellow Canadian (I'm dual). 🇨🇦
Curious if the wife ended up with any of your uncle's inheritance since your grandmother passed while he was still married to her?
Divorce laws are all over the map.

Sorry to hear about what your mom had to endure with her mom's passing.

The Officials who gave the update on the COD did not mislead the public. IMO the reason for that update was to stop the gossip and rumours that were circulating regarding foul play.

It was the media who determined that Betsy was ‘last known’ to be alive on FEB 11th equalled an announcement she died on Feb 11th. It did not, the date of death was unknown. During that update it was stated the investigation couldn’t be concluded until cellphone data was received, along with a few other loose ends. The COD was not dependent on the cellphone data so it shouldn’t have been a big deal. But now certain members of the media are having to scramble to whitewash their misreporting, some are doing a better job of it than others.

CBS got it right.

“Prior to getting access to phone records, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said earlier this month that Arakawa's last known communication and activity was on Feb. 11.”

"The Santa Fe sheriff says early February 12, she called Cloudberry, a medical concierge service with credentialed doctors."

"That would indicate to me that she was seeking medical advice or medical help, and may have not been feeling well," said Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza."

😔

"Arakawa, who wasn't an established patient, told Cloudberry she was "feeling congested," but she "didn't sound ill," according to Dr. Josiah Child, founder of Cloudberry Health."

"Arakawa asked about hyperbaric therapy -- which involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber -- and "they told her she should come in to discuss," Child said.:

"An appointment was scheduled for 1:15 p.m. but she didn't attend; she also didn't respond to Cloudberry's follow up call, according to Child."

● AH called Cloudberry a couple of weeks before her death to ask about getting an echocardiogram [heart scan] for her husband. (Feb 26 or about). And made an appointment for herself for the 12th of March (not related to respiratory).

● Feb. 10th, two days before her scheduled appointment, she cancelled her appointment, saying her husband was not well.

● AH arrived home on the 11th at 5:15pm after wearing a mask all day.

● AH left several emails unopened after she arrived home.

● The Sheriff says early February 12, she called Cloudberry, a medical concierge service with credentialed doctors.

● She called the three times that morning and spoke to them.

● AH who told Cloudberry she was "feeling congested..."

● appointment was scheduled for 1:15pm. but she didn't attend; she also didn't respond to Cloudberry's follow up call, according to Child.

● AH never picked up (we dont know date) dog medicine and dog food nor called vet too reschedule. "She was devoted to those dogs,” said Robert Gruda, the hospital’s owner.
She was consistent, predictable. We knew something was wrong when she didn’t pick up the food on time.”

☆ Sometime after she called Cloudberry and 1:15pm she either laid down or had passed away. M00

Very well summarized, @Warwick7.

I personally have no doubt BA passed away 2/12. These data reinforce my initial theory of 2/11-12.

I am ready to let go of sleuthing this case. May BA, GH and Zinna rest in peace having known love.

IMO.

I'm not sure I would agree that treatment in a hyperbaric chamber is considered esoteric.

Thank you, @Izzylizzy for your kind words.

As far as my Canadian Uncle's support of his ex-wife, I know from managing his estate after he passed away a few decades later, that he periodically provided financial support to his ex-wife as recently as a year before he died.

Indeed. I have a hyperbaric chamber appointment tomorrow to help with the final stages of hip surgery recovery! ;)

I'm puzzled why the doctor from Cloudberry didn't get in touch with LE as soon as he heard the news of the tragic deaths and it was LE who found the communication with BA from her cell phone data.
Do HIPPA laws apply to a doctor voluntarily giving LE medical info on someone and that someone wasn't yet a patient?

"However, new evidence came to light on Monday, when the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Arakawa was actually still alive on Feb. 12. They said that the classical pianist made multiple calls to a health clinic for medical treatment one day after she was initially believed to have died.

The sheriff’s office explained that they only learned of the calls when they received the cellphone data from her phone, and that three calls were made to Cloudberry Health, a personalized medical practice in the local area, on the morning of Feb. 12.'
imo"

Could they have been referring the the original appointment that was cancelled?

The media is who I was referring to. They were looking for media sensation when in fact they do not have the conclusive evidence from the phone.

They also made a statement about the daughter being in touch with her father, that he was doing well and doing Pilates and Yoga several times a week. If the daughter did give that info we know now that it contradicts what the doctors and ME said. The press though published it with their spin on it, not knowing the facts.

It’s the frustrating way of the world from the media establishment.

Probably the kind of yoga or pilates GH would be doing at the end would be more like guided chair yoga or pilates I’ve seen youtubes of, which I could imagine Betsy having him do, MOO.

Funny how his kids thought he was in excellent health
which to me just goes to show they had no idea how bad it was
IMO I don’t think they had much to do with their father for quite some time.

Gene’s Will speaks volumes and it was written 20 years ago. There’s a reason he didn’t include them in his Will.

Thanks for the clarification @Izzylizzy. I didn't realize it was the cell phone data that pointed LE to Cloudberry. It seems very odd to me that Cloudberry didn't contact LE at the first word of the mysterious deaths. ?? Sure, HIPAA-- but two people were mysteriously dead! It makes me wonder if the Cloudberry office is not so well organized, or that a low level employee didn't associate BA's phone call with the Hackman deaths and relay info to office manager or doctors. It also seems very odd to me that Dr Childs would contact or speak to the DM after being contacted by LE. And to repeat, that just seems very unusual behavior for an expensive concierge doctor. But then everything in this case has been mysterious and odd. Might as well have been written as a detective novel.

For all we know Cloudberry did contact LE to tell them about the appointments and phone call on 2/12, but LE didn't make that information public until they had the cell phone data because they wanted to verify the calls using the actual cell phone data.

Would really make LE look like buffoons if they had just come out and said this clinic has said BA had called them on the 12th, therefor she must have been alive until that date, before corroborating that with the actual records.

I would think LE would have known a lot of information about who BA called early on just by looking at the call log on the phones prior to receiving the actual records from the phone company.

BA wearing a mask all day, calling saying she was congested. May have thought she had COVID.

It's too bad the Vet Hospital didn't contact someone knowing how consistent and predictable BA was when BA didn't pick up the dog medicine and dog food or answer their calls . If they had, a welfare check would have likely been done before Gene passed.

It didn't sound like it to me.

From the ABC news article:
Arakawa, who wasn't an established patient, told Cloudberry she was "feeling congested," but she "didn't sound ill," according to Dr. Josiah Child, founder of Cloudberry Health.

Arakawa asked about hyperbaric therapy -- which involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber -- and "they told her she should come in to discuss," Child said.
