CO2 is Carbon Dioxide. We are surrounded by a certain percentage of Carbon Dioxide all the time. Carbon Dioxide is not poisonous as a gas. Carbon Dioxide give the soda we drink it fizz.Good point.
Descriptions of him apparently falling in the mudroom, and hence on his way in or out of the house, are consistent with a heart attack (rather than CO2 which makes people feel weak).
Then, wife unable to cope with it?
Only way I can get my dogs to eat a pill is to wrap it in cheese.sorry, dogs don't eat human pills
to some degree I agree with you. But when LE finds two people dead and no obvious signs, it should be investigated as suspicious.Sounds like the only really suspicious thing about the deaths is that there were multiple simultaneous deaths. If they had occurred on their own it would just simply seem to be a death due to a fall.
Yes, I was typing CO2 because (most) people on websleuths understand it as shorthand for CO2 poisoning such as happens eg when a propane or gas heater has a faulty connection, as has been previously speculated by others on this thread.CO2 is Carbon Dioxide. The molecular structure of Carbon Monoxide is just CO.
After reading about the pills, I don't think Carbon Monoxide has anything to do with this case.

Excellent point. So, what caused that? I really am leaning towards Hackman found his wife deceased and had a heart attack as he tried to get help.Sounds like the only really suspicious thing about the deaths is that there were multiple simultaneous deaths. Yes, I can certainly see the death of his wife causing stress. First action would have been to call 911 so would be good to know the location of phones. I'm not sure I follow the "space heater" falling on someone. Aren't those typically on the floor?Excellent point. So, what caused that? Oh, I took it to mean she had knocked over the space heater when she fell? Good catch, though. A small one can be placed on a countertop.Yes, I can certainly see the death of his wife causing stress. If that is his home, carbon monoxide is not really logical. The house is very open.I believe this is Gene’s home in Santa Fe.

Gene Hackman’s wife found mummified and bloated by workers who hadn’t seen couple for two weeks: cops
And who was feeding the 2 surviving dogs for 2 weeks???

Hackman’s body was located in a separate room, and there was “no obvious sign of a gas leak.”nypost.com

Scattered Pills Found Near Body of Hackman’s Wife As Inquiry ContinuesThere were no obvious signs of a gas leak in the home, it said, and the Fire Department did not find signs of a carbon monoxide leak.
The two dogs may have drunk water from a fountain or tub outside, or from the toilets. They may also have been found emaciated, though still alive, from lack of food.My best guess is, she suffered some sort of medical distress (which explains the spilled prescription meds) & passed, then he found her. In distress himself, likely fell & knocked himself out and then also passed. The dog would have died of thirst or starvation if locked in the crate in the closet. Terribly sad no matter how it all went down.
What's puzzling is how the 2 dogs survived without anyone feeding or watering them.
Not discounting your theory but he was found in an opposite area of the house, he was found in the mud room by the front doorMy best guess is, she suffered some sort of medical distress (which explains the spilled prescription meds) & passed, then he found her. CO2 is not what harms people when there is a bad connection with a gas heater. If gas (propane or natural gas is leaking) it can displace oxygen or ultimately cause an explosion. If the fumes are not properly vented, CO (carbon monoxide) is inhaled. CO IS toxic where as CO2 itself is not (just displaces oxygen). It seems that all three are unlikely now.Yes, I was typing CO2 because (most) people on websleuths understand it as shorthand for CO2 poisoning such as happens eg when a propane or gas heater has a faulty connection, as has been previously speculated by others on this thread.
CO leak would mean 3 dead dogs not 1, least likely theory after murder/suicide and suicide pact for meCO2 is not what harms people when there is a bad connection with a gas heater.
