To me, it is very possible. RC is a gun toter and I think he would have carried it. Misty picked Haleigh up from the bus and headed to her folks place - RC chased her there, mad over her weekend escapades and started yelling and threatening. Haleigh was so upset she tried to get in the way - Tommy and Joe were there too and tried to stop Ron. Maybe Joe or Tommy were armed? A shot was fired and Haleigh was hit. I think this happened outside near Hank & Lisa's place. The coverup began, they are all in fear of Ron. This does not excuse any of them for not coming forward in all of this time - makes them all guilty. JMHO
I have a question-if Tommy and JO was apart of the altercation that led to Haleigh's death, couldn't they still be charged with something?? I really don't know, but I would assume, they could be.
Maybe Misty got into it with Ron and called Tommy to come to the rescue and Tommy called Timmy/JO?? Tommy probably knew he couldn't take Ron by himself or was scared to try to take Ron on by himself. By the time they all meet up-Ron, Misty, Tommy, Jo, maybe Timmy...Ron is outnumbered 2-3 to 1. I can totally see Ron getting his gun and cussing and threatening to kill somebody. He needed backup and the gun made him much more powerful than the rest. Maybe he did start shooting and Haleigh got hit. Can you imagine the Croslins going through that with Ron???? That's what they feared...all of them....If Ron was actually shooting at them, without good aim, I would have been thinking "He was really trying to kill me!". If Ron would do that.....I would be afraid to talk too especially if I knew he harmed his daughter. With this theory, Ron already showed them what he was capable of....so they were all well aware of his madness. IMO, that's what kept them from talking. That and the fact they went over there trying to protect Misty, therefore, starting an altercation with Ron. Maybe they felt, if they hadn't started the altercation Haleigh would still be alive...and that's where the guilt comes in.
Wouldn't that still be trouble for the Croslins??? If they started the altercation that led to Haleigh's death, although, they did not fire the fatal shot, couldn't they still be held responsible??
I have a few theories but this one would explain:
1. Why no one wanted to talk-(Misty brought her family into this, the family start altercation, Haleigh ends up dead).
2. Why it was so easy to implicate JO-(maybe Jo threw the first punch-therefore, they're trying to say he is the one that started the altercation-if he hadn't hit Ron-none of this would've ever happened.)
3. Why there's all this "gun" talk
4. Why LE isn't really putting the spotlight on Ron-(they know he's involved but they want to know exactly what led up to the events that took place and that's why they pressured the Croslins. The Croslins started the altercation that led to Haleigh's death, even if they didn't actually kill her.)
5. Why Misty is the key-(she started the altercation and became part of the cover up)
6. Why LE wanted to go back 30 hours prior to Haleigh going missing-(It all started with Misty's wild weekend, and that's the reason Ron and Misty were feuding-LE was trying to understand why Ron and Misty were even arguing...and what made her call her family.)
7. Why there are "several persons of interest"-(they're including the Croslins because they started the altercation....and Ron because he actually pulled the trigger that killed Haleigh.)
8. Why Ron hands were bruised up following Haleigh's "disappearance"-(he had been in a fight.)
