I'm speaking to age of adulthood. Prior to age of adulthood none of those things can happen unless, you become emancipated from your parents, or the govt. decided to try a 13 y.o. as an adult (although, technically, they are not an adult, until age 18).

What you may be asking about is the Equal Protection clause, of our 14th Amendment. There are also state laws, and federal laws, enacted to protect children. However, a child is considered a person, of whom, the parents have the right to exercise control. If they do not do so, then that is when the state steps in, to protect the child. In other words, the way I understand it, it's my job to protect my child, and their rights, and if I fail to do so, the govt. will step in. IANAL, but, in seeing the "system", and foster parents, and parent plans, to try to mend a family, this is just my take on the subject. I will say this, it is unimaginable, how many young people are grimin on the streets. Literally couch surfing from night to night. Unless we address some of these root causes, in this country, we will never get anywhere. There is so much going on in the streets, and in the underbelly of these little towns that look a white picket fence dreams, that no one ever sees. Reminds me of Eminem's song, White America. No one cares til it reaches the middle class neighborhoods...

That is not something that only America owns. It happens all over the world. But...................the rest of the world does not have school shootings. Why could that be?

interestingly, similarly in the constitution it does not set limits on what type of arms. Yet citizens can’t own surface to air missiles, cruise missiles or nuclear bombs as far as I am aware. Why no uproar from those who love the 2nd amendment on that?

It seems that if you have the money, you can, or could, in 2014. Not that I think they're a great idea for everyone to have...

[FONT=&amp]There's also an Israeli Sherman tank – estimated value as much as $350,000 - that saw action in the 1956 Suez War, 1967 Six Day War and 1973 Yom Kippur War. And, if you'd rather have a missile at your disposal, how about a Soviet-made SCUD A surface-to-air missile? Auctioneers note it needs some "light restoration," but is still expected to bring up to $350,000.

Perhaps because they accept that it is only for the Govt. to control the people in countries they wish to control with those terrible weapons? I even doubt any normal civilian would want to have those things. They are weapons of warfare only, and the might makes right way to solve world problems as far as i can see.

Yes natural disasters are a real concern for sure, but doesn't aid normally come to those people affected to get them to a safer place if people survive those disasters?

Some people are self sufficient and don't rely on being saved by some government agency, you know the old 'pull yourself up by the boot straps'. It's fine if you want to wait around for someone to save you but I don't.

How many times have you had to save yourself?

BBM, That is very sad and terrible those kids have no home, i can't imagine, :( No one should be without a home or love in that home, IMO.

Right, and so am I.[/QUO

Yes, but why can't you both be? That man still has most of his guns and still enjoys the same things that you do, but his children are not being killed in schools. Why can't you both enjoy your shooting without having non law abiding people shoot up schools?

That been crystal clear throughout this whole forum.

I have to say that it has been crystal clear that I disagree with youths being able to get guns to shoot their classmates. Do you agree with it is fine for kids to get guns to shoot their peers?

I agree. I've known some of these kids since they were born. One told me the other day that he'd been sleeping outside last year. I asked why he didn't tell us. He just blew it off like it was no big deal. I know another who is going to be homeless soon. Some have a shelter but no permanent home, or parents to help them, and some have lost both parents. They just keep their clothes in a bag and go from place to place. Then they end up with babies, it's just heartbreaking. I'm so worried about two of them right now. One has nobody, and the other, I'm afraid, will get hurt. He's never known anything but grimin really. We've got to start with these kids, early on, and start caring about our communities, and each other again. We can't save them all, but we can try. Just doing something nice for them leaves an impression. Some of these kids carry because they've been jumped on the street, and they're afraid. It's not about 2A to them. It's about survival.

Maybe so but either way it doesn't hurt to have a safe full of guns and plenty of ammunition. For those in a city, maybe not as important, but I'm not in a city.

Same.

If you don't mind me asking how old are they? I gather maybe youngish teens or young adults? The ones with babies, do they qualify for assistance because of a baby?
I'm not really sure of that because i have not had to worry about it so don't know, but how on earth will they ever be able to get out of such an awful situation without any help to get on their feet? What about the local churches? Can they help?
It really is hard to imagine what goes on sometimes, and in this so called modern era, with kids living like that, or any person for that matter. It's damn tough for sure. But as you say it takes a community to rally around and help.

Who is self sufficient? When someome rerires, they get Medicare unless they are fabulously rich and can afford medical insurance for the elderly.

I think most people use roads and have some access to fire protection and police protection.

There is road and bridge repair, The CDC that deals with health issues. The departments that make sure restaurants are following health rules. There are entities that make sure buildings are made safely. And on and on and on and on.

Unless someone is living in a building made by self harvested materials and uses fire made by rubbing sticks together, everyone relies on entities.

I responded to children's rights. It's much deeper than firearms. Much deeper. You're clueless, you've no idea what I see these young people go through just to live and get through another night alive. Please, just direct your questions to someone else, b/c you do not really, truly, care, about anything that I've ever had to say on this forum, that's obvious, Jennifer17.

Perhaps a trip to Thailand where Jennifer worked for several years may allow one to see horrendous poverty? People go to Thailand for the child sex trade. Or a trip to Australia to see how First Nations peoples are treated?

In the city where I lived in the US, we had programs for homeless youth. They are not all from poverty, I will skip the long story, but we had a girl come to our house that was the daughter of a nurse and a doctor. Divorced. He ( the doc) with a new younger wife.

I imagine there are lots of models online that could be looked at as something that may work in your community.

I think that depends on what part of Thailand you go to. The Indigenous people in Australia get fairly well looked after by the Govt. They get funding from the Govt. so their children get good educations and they get fairly good housing too, especially if you are a one parent family.
They get what is called Abstudy, Parenting Payment, NewStart Allowance, Disability Support Pension, Carer Allowance, & Age Pension.
