GRACE: Well, I don`t know what to believe, either, because I`m getting all these different stories about you having a New Year`s Eve party, and you`re high when you go take the polygraph. Let me ask you this. Let`s get back to the facts. When was the last time you absolutely are positive you saw Hailey?

BILLIE DUNN: I saw her Sunday night.

GRACE: What time, 10:00 PM?

BILLIE DUNN: Probably around 10:00.

GRACE: Now, was that when you looked in her room and it is was dark and you thought she was lying in her bed?

BILLIE DUNN: I did see her in her room, but I saw her watching TV. Monday morning, I looked in her room and it was dark and it looked look she was laying in bed. But I didn`t go touch her, make sure that was her. I just peeked in to make sure she was in bed to ease my mind and...

We really don't know if Billie saw Hailey's face that morning. I get the feeling she saw a lump in the bed that looked like Hailey's body. Did she ever clarify further what she saw? Did she see Hailey's face, her hair, an arm? BBM

The bolded part - every time I read that, my brain completes it with a statement the mods might not want here. Billie's that she "didn't make sure that it was her" adds to the troubling feeling I get that the mods might not want here.

This isn't as easy as I thought it would be - going back to refreshing my memory via Youtube.

That and the "to ease my mind". Why would her mind need to be eased?

Wow. Perhaps Billie suspected something via SA's behavior / demeanor that morning, even a slight change she couldn't identify but nonetheless caused her to be afraid to thoroughly check on Hailey for fear of what she may find? That scenario would fit in with SA's actions (as per LE) after leaving work that day, though it doesn't cover the possible second person in the car, who wouldn't, couldn't be Hailey.

Maybe that's the reason for the odd statement?

Am I remembering correctly that there were 3 xboxes involved?
The one they had, the one DD got for Christmas and the one the police gave him.
I seem to remember that DD got a new one for Christmas and that SA in an interview said that DD gave him the old one. I remember some asking why he didn't give the old one to Hailey instead. Then police took the new one and gave him another to use. So what was on the first xbox.

I just want to interject something about the whole media referring to Hailey as a cheerleader thing.

My daughter is a cheerleader and very proud of it. I am not sure how dedicated Hailey was, but my daughter LOVES cheerleading and works very hard at it. She would definitely identify herself as a cheerleader and quite proudly. I think that some may be reading too much into this by inferring that being a cheerleader is a negative thing, which I really don't get. My daughter trains hours and hours per week all year round and performs amazing stunts and incredible tumbling. It is hard work and takes a lot of dedication-not to mention the risk of injury. She has also made a lot of friends, as have I and we are extremely proud of our cheer organziation.

The other thing is that the most apparent photo of Hailey has always been her cheerleader picture. This picture brought beautiful Hailey to the forefront of our minds-a sweet innocent young girl doing something that so many American girls her age love to do.

I don't think these journalists have meant any harm-just that the headline immediately tells you exactly who they are referring to. Many people do not know the name Hailey Dunn, but they most certainly remember the picture of the beautiful cheerleader.

As the mother of a cheerleader, it certainly made me indentify with her heartbreaking story that much more. Poor Hailey. I hope she didn't suffer before she passed and I hope they bring whoever did this to her to justice swiftly and decisively.

RIP sweet Hailey. Your beautiful smile will be missed here on earth.

And how was it eased just by noting someone(thing) in Hailey's bed, without checking further?

Could she have suspected something, yet was too afraid to possibly realize her suspicion?

Once a week I leave for the office before anyone gets up in the morning. I always peek in on all my kids (the oldest is almost 13) just to "ease my mind." That said, I always make sure they are breathing too...so I'm probably a bit more over the top than most.

I've been wondering that for 28 months.

That's what puzzles me, GiGi - naked pictures of SA and BD and an unidentified woman were found on an xbox - wouldn't that be the old one DD gave to SA, or did that activity happen over Christmas weekend after DD gave it to SA? I would think prior to Christmas, or at least always have.

The new one would have pics of Hailey from Sunday night.

Yet LE has one xbox?

Is that right?

Wait. Did LE confiscate the old xbox on the day SA was hiding in BD's house? I seem to recall that now.

It was in the Bring them home interview on March 3 2011
"David’s X-Box, he took that with him to his uncle Roger’s house. There’s another X-Box in the house that used to be David’s and when he got the new one for Christmas he gave me his old one and I’ve only played it a handful of times. I’m really not into video games that much."

I still don't understand which one LE took. I hope they checked the old one

I thought that for a long time until the odd feeling her statement gave me overcame what I thought.

We will eventually find out. With all the rumor of a shoddy job LE did, on one hand there's a little fear yet I'm with you in the hope.

Everything about this case gives me that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. I find everything said bizarre.....as a parent, and the sister of a missing child.....if I have an uncomfortable feeling about one of my kids, I am going to walk into that room and touch them....just my opinion. I am not accusing I am just stating a fact. The he did/she did and he said/she said game between the two of them makes me sick. If somebody hurt one of my kids I'd be screaming everything I knew.....not playing word games......again only voicing my opinion.

From the Hope for Hailey Facebook. Sounds like Billie is a mess.

Words shared from a friend of Hailey's family facebook status and the picture shared from Hailey's Great Aunt

We were living in our imaginary bubble. We were naive, but so hopeful that it became impossible for Hailey not to come home safe. I listen to her family as they too try accept the unacceptable, it is excruciating. The questions will not stop and have become a tormentor of possible answers that no one should know their child may have gone through. Eyes can't close for sleep, because then you might dream. Hidden fears become the pictures behind your eyes haunting. My very soul is in physical pain, I feel it in my heart and mind and yet everything is numb in me by comparison to what her mom, dad and brother feel. The tortured screams through the phone telling me her baby was dead I will hear forever, but they will never stop for them, the screams have become their life. She was bigger than life, such a bright light that she touched thousands that only knew her picture, my loves so true for Hailey and her family that I pray Lord, ask, beg for peace to soothe and build a new bubble that is more clear to see through, but that they can hold Hailey tight to them and go on until they meet again

I got curious about the xbox and "what billie said" so did some sleuthing over at Youtube.

In this interview billie states that LE did confiscate David's Xbox. What falls in the cracks here is that she doesn't indicate which Xbox it was: he received a new one for Christmas and gave his old one to SA... oh, that may answer the question.

01/12/2011 - Hailey Dunn Case - Billie Jean Dunn RAW Interview about claims in affidavit - YouTube

Hope that clears up confusion.

My guess is that they took the new one for two reasons:

A) that would have been the one HD was playing, they would have been interested in the record of her activity stored on the machine;

B) They apparently gave DD a new one as a replacement for the one they took. I'm guessing that he would not have a big issue losing the old one, so the new one is the one they took.

I thought that for a long time until the odd feeling her statement gave me overcame what I thought.

According to her statements on Nancy Grace (aired January 12, 2011), BD said she saw Hailey in her room in bed watching TV on Sunday night (December 26). If BD had stated that she last saw Hailey on the sofa when she turned in for the night, then I think it would have made sense to peek into Hailey's room to "ease" her mind.

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1101/12/ng.01.html

BILLIE DUNN: I saw her Sunday night.

GRACE: And so no one for sure saw Hailey from, like -- that was 6:00 AM in the morning when you left...

BILLIE DUNN: Yes.

I can't help but wonder why she didn't check on Hailey (to ease her mind) via text message or phone call at some time on Monday (December 27) after she was allegedly told by SA that Hailey was spending the night @ her friend MB's house. IIRC, she said she wasn't worried that Hailey didn't check in with her (paraphrasing from memory).

It makes no sense (to me) that she would want to ease her mind when Hailey is reportedly at home in her own bed (early Monday morning, December 27) but when Hailey is not in the house & at an alleged sleepover that same night (for which Hailey did not have permission, according to other statements BD subsequently made) BD claimed she wasn't worried.

Sleeping in the living room rather than the bedroom seems kind of weird to me. You would think that would create a certain level of inconvenience to the other people in the house. Was she using that as a cover to take off during the night un-noticed? Thinking back to my youth, that is the sort of thing I might have done.

My read on that is she was checking to see if she was still there, saw a shape in the bed, and was OK with that.

Perhaps she wasn't certain that HD would still be there that morning when she woke up?

BBM

I can't help but feel that the above bolded comments are a denigration of a little girl who, through no fault of her own, is now deceased & a victim of homicide, perhaps by her own mother's former live-in lover.

There have been zero reports of Hailey taking off during the night.

Lots of teens sleep on the living room couch, for a variety of reasons.

I find it offensive to try to paint Hailey in a negative light in order to defend the adults in the home, one of whom is a named suspect in her disappearance.
