All I can say for sure are the Salvation Army and the Red Cross. The others I have know idea about. I know the Salvation Army is at the top of the list of amount of donations versus expenses.

All charities take your donation for "administration:, If I had money I would go on Amazon do your thing , change the ship to address to the HOuston Police dept and that way your whole donation is going directly to the people instead of paying people to discuss with other people how to spend your donation!

If you like the idea pls spread it around !!!

Nothing my dear neesaki. I made a post and the thread came to a standstill. I was making fun of myself. After all, somebody's got to make fun of me right? LOL

It looks like the Salvation Army is a charity that everyone can agree on. They do amazing work and they had boots on the ground right away when the hurricane hit I'm told.

It looks like the Salvation Army is a charity that everyone can agree on. They do amazing work and they had boots on the ground right away when the hurricane hit I'm told.

Oh, got it, lol. Yes the Salvation Army is a great charity. And of course the Red Cross is as well. You know me, I try to analyze it to death. But I need to let it go!

Not seeing the current estimate of water in reservoir on that link for some reason. I just checked the same page directly, though, and it doesn't look good for Addicks.

They've been increasing the release since 2AM yesterday (Monday), and the water level has still gone up by over 6,000 cubic acres since I last checked several hours ago (from approx 165-171,000 cubic acres).

Each one on the left the number is the max capacity of that reservoir or dam .

If the blue line gets to the top that means the reservoir or dam starts overtopping.

They are in such a jam. The dams have like back up giant reservoirs. For both of these dams both of their giant reservoirs are cose to overtopping themselves.

That is what they are releasing now the two reservoirs. If it was not such a disaster the reservoirs would be empty and then they would control inflow and outflow by the actual dams.

My sense here (not sure about this part) is they have the inflow from reservoir into the actual dam closed - so they don't put pressure on it at this time.

So they are trying to drop the reservoirs and then will open the reservoirs back into the dams - if they can get there before .........

It is amazing what they do. There are gates and stuff for mlles and miles. And they open and close and run the water all the way down into the Gulf!

Visually it is kind like a big highway in any city where the traffic lights are coordinated wherein if everyone does the speed limit the traffic will hit the green lights all the way along. Anything along that causes problems ahead and behind.

All the rivers bayous lakes etc are all one giant system.

Obviously they are busy. The sad truth tho is all of this will take about 8 weeks to move down to the gulf. There will be another whole event like we are seeing now downward -- tons of homes are going to be flooded out down wards.

After a certain point closing the gates all the way down with this kind of quantity only results in the water crashing over the top of the gates the whole way down.

Then they can breach - and then there is complete loss of control .

That is what they are really worried about tonight at the attica dam. As all the rain from today makes it to the reservoir and then dam either or both of them can overtop.

But that becomes a true issue cause overtopping also causes erosion and if pressures become to high then the whole thing starts and there is no control at all.

Did i confuse anything in my effort to explain it ??

No it does not look good. But he was careful but truthful. I think they kinda know that on the dam itself a corner is gonna start overtopping -. He was careful but real they are very worried about the Attica one

And in a way it feels kinda elitist - both are related intensely to downtown - so in weighing options its flooding out neighborhoods or downtown

I did not capture the barker one earlier

In terms of evacuation:

They are going in 4 steps as it relates to trying to save people. Getting people out of homes.

Getting them to a expressway.

Loading them onto any kind of vehicle known to mankind and taking them to a wal mart

then using any other kind of vehicle know to to mankind to the shelter.

The shelter is at 5000 not a typo!
