Well.... that's where it gets confusing, right at the beginnings with the times and all. I think. . . we started with Wilma last seeing the girls at 11:30. Please correct me if I am wrong anyone.

Then the cctv video was released and the official time of the girls last being seen was 12:15. I do not know if that is the adjusted time. Mr. P says clock was 8 minutes slow.

I am not sure if they were captured on cctv before or after standing with their bikes in the parking lot, but I am pretty sure it was after the fact, unless the camera captured them twice riding around in a circle??????

Yes, I definitely think Elizabeth could have been at Meyers Lake the day before L and WC, but that is :moo:.

I am not sure what time L and WC arrived at the Collins household. I would like confirmation on that as well.

I am under the impression that the dogs captured both girls' scents at the lake per Sandy Brault, the FBI spokesperson.

So, did Sandy Breault know that the home they went missing from wasn't Grandma's house? :banghead: Or are we to assume yet again, bad reporting?

And with no confirmed sightings 5 days after they went missing I think chances were pretty slim that anyone saw anything that went down at the lake that day.

I don't think the FBI's involvement would indicate state lines were crossed. The FBI often gets involved when children are abducted, and I suppose they also investigate if an abducted child is found dead. JMO.

Hi Marilyn next door in PA. :seeya:

I may be wrong, BUT imho, FBI gets involved when crossing state lines.
I'm at work will look into later when I get home. :twocents:

"Officers slowly paddled around the lake in kayaks on Tuesday morning. A group of three officers walking along the southeast shoreline stopped to study something that appeared to be a cup. An officer with gloves and an evidence bag picked it up and took it back to a patrol car sitting along the bank.

Officials didn't identify the object or even confirm whether it was related to the search for Elizabeth Collins, 8, and Lyric Cook-Morrissey, 10, but it was a rare sign of activity in a massive search that has produced few if any significant leads.

"I don't think that they're in the lake, not at all, but it is just like a dead end as far as we know so far," said Dan Morrissey, Lyric's father. "We've never gone through anything like this. It's hard enough just to get up and deal with the reality that your daughter is gone."

Tammy Brousseau, 48, an aunt to both girls, said all the signs were pointing to a stranger -- possibility a pedophile -- abducting them from the area near the lake where their bikes were found.

Brousseau said that just last week she taught Lyric how to "save someone if they went limp in the water." She said she also taught both girls how to "drop to the ground and fight" if someone tried to abduct them.

Lyric's parents said they didn't suspect a drowning either, noting the girls' swimming abilities and the fact that no shoes were recovered on the bank of the lake.

"The area where the bikes were found is fenced on both sides, and it is right where maintenance gate is it is a spot that looks to me like a trap," Dan Morrissey said. "Somebody could have just come along right then or followed them down it would have been the worst spot to be in right there."

At least 30 FBI investigators joined the search for the girls, who were last reported seen Friday afternoon leaving their grandmother's house (edited by me, reporter got it wrong - it was not grandmother's house, but the Collins' house) in Evansdale. Their bicycles and Elizabeth's purse were found later that day near a bike trail at the edge of Meyers Lake.

Breault said the search has been slowed because of the time required to drain the lake. The draining began Monday afternoon and could take up to three days. But local officials said the draining likely will go faster because of the already low level of the lake and the Cedar River into which it drains.

The lake is draining through a 3-foot culvert with a grate over it that would prevent a body from flowing into it, Abben said. A pump was brought in on Tuesday to quicken the pace.

The lake was drained in 2008 when the area flooded and in 2009 when a fish kill prompted the city to empty it and restock it.

Abben said he was told it was down 3 feet on Tuesday morning and the water level continued to fall throughout the day with more of the bank visible.

A massive sweep of the area that drew hundreds of volunteers over the weekend failed to find any evidence. Authorities previously dredged the lake and have been interviewing family, friends and registered sex offenders who live in the area.

Abben said that local, state and federal officials have been "grasping for straws" in the search. A tip line turned up numerous reports of articles of clothing that had been found, but none belonged to the girls. He said it was as if they had just disappeared.

Abben declined to talk specifically about evidence other than saying the bicycle and purse, which had a cellphone in it, did not definitely place the girls at the lake. The cellphone was used by the girls to play games and was not activated to make calls, he said.

He said tips were coming from across the United States since the story has gained national attention.

He said the family has been cooperating with the investigation.

"We have no reason to believe there was any foul play at this time," he said. "Everyone is suspect until we find something."

Lyric's mother, Misty Morrissey, said the family members were trying to stay as upbeat as possible considering the circumstances.

"We're pretty emotional, pretty sad, trying to remain positive and trying to hold on to our faith and know that God is still in control and we're going to find a resolution to this," she said.

The FBI is always involved in kidnappings.

Great question! I want to know the answer to this too! :rocker:

I think we should all write Tony Thompson with our concerns. I wouldn't hurt. It just seems like the community isn't demanding justice.

If the TV show Criminal Minds (hehehe) has any accuracy at all the FBI can get involved it local law enforcement asks for help, but if a crime crosses state lines it does become a federal case...

You're right, in the case of adult abductions.

But the FBI has a Violent Crimes Against Children department that becomes involved regardless of whether or not state lines have been crossed. Here's a link: http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/investigate/vc_majorthefts/cac

OT Have to share this amazing story!
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottaw...rescues-kidnapped-girl-in-france.html?cmp=rss

"Hurd, a retired music teacher from Perth, Ont., about an hour's drive southwest of Ottawa, said he was touring an area in a car on April 10 when he saw a "creature jumping up and down in the distance."

Hurd first thought it was a deer, until he got closer.

"I saw it was a person. I started to get really scared thinking, is this some kind of a weird trap or something?" he told Robyn Bresnahan, host of Ottawa Morning.

"I got closer still and I saw it was a really young girl tied up and gagged. I could see her eyes were literally, the saucer kind of thing, huge eyes and just willing all her energy at me, for me to notice her. It was hard for me to do anything but notice."

The girl, 11, had allegedly been abducted from her school and sexually assaulted, according to local media reports the following day. The girl had been missing for about an hour when Hurd found her"

It's horrible reporting. They got it wrong twice in the article.

It was 3 days before the bicyclist came forward saying he had seen bikes and Mr. C came forward after that and it was even longer for Mr. P to come forward with the cctv information. We don't know when the "jogger" came forward with the 2 o'clock time of seeing the girls' bikes. The information of the sighting on Brovan was in August? It seems like the girls were in stealth mode that day for sure.

OT - Sending out prayers and positive thoughts for the Boston Marathon participants, the people who were there at the race and the families of all. Tragic! :(

Heather is just one member of an extended family, and this comment was made five months ago. Do you have a link to any other family members recently commenting on their satisfaction with the investigation?

That "one member of the extended family" making the comment "five months ago" is the parent of one of the two victims, speaking on behalf of her family just days after her daughter's remains were found.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss this statement thanking investigators for the job they are doing.

Me too! They are saying the bombs were at ground level because so many have suffered damage to their lower extremities. I think we saw somebody in a wheelchair with a leg blown off. They have't shown that again. Possible 2 decapitations. Who would want to do this?

OMG! They may already have a suspect. FBI treating as terror act - duh! Can't imagine what 3CK would say to that.

People that do this type of thing are complete cowards. The scum of the earth. I'm not going to jump to the conclusion of international terrorism yet, considering it's tax day and there are enough extremists within our borders that are capable of such an act.

Unbelievable. What the heck is wrong with people? Makes me so sad for all of these families. Mad that people choose to do this type of thing to people. Innocent peoples' lives taken yet again. How horrible and terrifying for everyone.

That's what I've got to say about it. :seeya:My prayers are already being said for everyone...and an extra prayer to LE to be able to determine who did this cowardly act and bring them to justice.
