sure. that sounds like a good start to a defense strategy. But once it is known the police are looking for a white elantra and you drove a white elantra in that area, why would he not come forward and say....I drove a car fitting that description, that night....here it is please come check it out and clear my name. Instead, he changes registration, and drives it out of town the first chance he gets. Not sure if he made other attempts to hide his ownership of a vehicle matching that description but at least those two things come to mind.
Per the affidavit the plates were to expire on November 30. If he hadn't changed registration he would have been at definite risk for a traffic stop.

I've been doing the same - going over this timeline all in one place - and three timeframes interest me:

AFTER he left the Albertsons in Clarkston, WA at 1:04, the PCA does not address the time from 1:04 to 5:32 pm.

- So what was he doing during that timeframe after shopping at Albertsons? Did he buy something there in which he could conceal the knife for burying it somewhere - a cylindrical cookie tin, or Pringle container, or a holiday cylinder or long narrow box for gifting wine or liquor?

Then, from 5:23 to 5:36 pm, the phone connects to the network in Johnson, ID (I think it must actually be Johnson, WA - north of Clarkston, WA - because I cannot find a Johnson, ID).

Then, from 5:36 until 8:30, the phone is disconnected from the network.

- These would be hours AFTER daylight, so if he was burying evidence or placing it somewhere outdoors, he would have cover of darkness.

So, did he temporarily stash evidence after driving south after the murders (at which time he discovered the missing sheath - which he may have hoped to recover when returning to King Rd from 9 to 9:30 am)? And then, later return to grab the evidence for more permanent disposal and/or stashing?

I tend to think he'd want to hold onto that knife or at least stash it somewhere that he knows he can return to later, to recover it.
Johnson, ID on a map would have BK headed toward Montana while the phone is disconnected from the network. Could this be an effort to dispose of evidence in an alternate jurisdiction to complicate LE’s job?

There is nothing in the PCA that states that the surviving roommate confronted BK. She laid eyes on him and was able to give a description to the police. The house was inhabited by college students who would have people over to party. It wouldn't be unusual to have people you may not know in the house. There's no way she would have suspected that this guy had broken in and murdered her friends. Also take into account some or all of them had been drinking.
Please don't make this into something it's not.
Agree, MOO no one could possibly be expecting someone to think that a stranger in this particular house was doing what he did. She is lucky to be alive.

His Masters 'research' was however approved by his Masters professor as acceptable in its context.
Correct.

And while it’s a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 survey, for a masters student to do any research is usually a good thing. The standard is just lower. It was also IRB approved- just poor quality questions/measures and very qualitative (not bad just not ideal for actually getting at his RQ, an interview model would have been stronger to get at actual psychology).

That wouldn’t explain the minimum of 12 times per the affidavit that he stalked the area around and at the house prior to his mass murder.
Exactly. He’s the very definition of a creep, craning his neck as he was passing the house again and again, I bet. Jmo

he says he likes shoppping in Moscow.... he will say that the DD person did it IMO
and he (BK) got Door Dash the same night so cross contamination IMO
I’m missing where BK got Door Dash that night. It would actually have been morning I suppose. Do you have a link? In order for it to be a claim of cross contamination it would have to be the same DD driver, car, and/or restaurant. Do you have a source for this? Jmo

I feel like the trial will bring clarity and the details we do not have will fill in soon enough. Very good that they have the suspected killer in custody. I did take pause with the report that he asked arresting officers if they had arrested anyone else.

It’s just so horrifically creepy.

Knife probably in the snake river IMO

iirc, BK moved from PA to WA August 2022. Though I would not be surprised if he had been in the house at some point!

I wonder if there’s any significance to him getting a new cell phone in June 2022. It was still registered in PA so I’m not sure it was related to his move?
They need to try and get a hold of his prior phone and/or its history. Might be fascinating. And possibly macabre.

I don’t see how cross contamination happens on the snap of the sheath but that’s jmo. I could, and have been many times, be wrong.

Y'all slammed the door on me as I was typing a response in the last thread. lol Here is it....

Apparently he wanted his car with him in Pennsylvania, likely to keep LE from finding it. But here's the odd thing for me... his dad flies out to drive back with BK to Pennsylvania for Christmas. That means BK was going to (likely) drive alone all that way back to WA when the visit was over. That doesn't make sense to me. He needs company one way, but not the other? Someone has wondered if it was due to a long haul during winter, but it would still be winter when he made the drive back.
Someone else speculated on a previous thread that BK could have wanted the dad to buy new tires for the cat. That is what would make sense to me, if he feared he left tire marks at the scene. IMO

it seems unbelievable that one of the surviving roommates heard strange and frightening noises, saw a man in a mask walk by them and leave the house, locked herself in her room, and then that roommate didnt bother to call 911 for at least 7 hours? c’mon man!

Possibly the same car driving around the house all the time ?
I should know this...but my brain is mushy this evening...this area was a student housing area, correct? Other off campus dwellings?

I try to put myself in a college student's mindset. Maybe, this girl was trying to process what happened the night before. Could she have thought that they bought some kind of drug and had a reaction to it and this guy in black who said, "I'm here to help," was the one who sold it to them? She may have been scared but didn't want to get them into trouble if this were the case.

I wonder if she tried to call their phones after that. She said that she heard Kaylee playing with the dog. Did she try to call her to see what was going on? That's what I would do. If I got no answers from any housemates, I would call Jack or someone else to come over to the house first. I wouldn't know what to think, really. I think that I would be too afraid to go to sleep.

I also wonder if Xana may have answered the door, thinking that it was the Door Dash driver returning for some reason (like he forgot to give her the condiments). When she saw that it was a menacing stranger, she started to cry and retreat to her bedroom to get help from her boyfriend. That's when BK said, "I'm here to help."

In theory, her being awake could have foiled his plan of killing just one (Maddie) in the house. He probably thought that all of the housemates would be asleep at 4 a.m. Also, he probably wasn't expecting Kaylee to be there as she had moved out.

BK may have felt that he had to kill the witnesses to eliminate the possibility of them calling the police or identifying him.

I'm thinking that he didn't see the surviving housemate. Maybe, he was in a zone and focused on getting out of the house as soon as possible after killing four people. Plus, you think that it would take a lot of energy/effort to do so. Maybe, he was out of strength.

Of course, this is just speculation and my opinion only.
If he only thought two were home and kept finding more people, may have been frantic and focused on getting out of there. If EC was the person who said “I’ll help you,” then she may have thought the incident was being handled. We don’t know who said that or if that is, in fact, what was said.

It interests me that Xana is the one who seems likely to be the one who fought back. If EC was stabbed while sleeping, she may have seen him and been the one to say she was going to help. Perhaps she was in the bathroom and EC was stabbed in that brief window of time.

Idk. Makes me sick to think about it. Jmo

Apologies if this has been discussed, I haven't been able to keep up with the threads today.

A big question mark for me is his movements on the afternoon of the murders.
  • 12:36 pm: Suspects phone pinged near Kate’s Cup of Joe coffee, 810 Port Drive, Clarkston, WA. Surveillance footage across the street captures the suspect's car at this time.
  • 12:46 pm: Suspects phone pinged to Albertson's grocery store at 400 Bridge Street in Clarkston, WA. Surveillance footage shows the suspects Elantra and the suspect inside the store.
  • 1:04 pm: Surveillance footage shows the suspect leaving Alberton’s
  • 5:32 pm - 5:36 pm: Suspects phone pings in Johnson ID.
  • 5:36 pm - 8:30 pm: Suspects phone stops reporting to the network

What were the pings between 1:04 pm and 5:32 pm? What was he buying at Albertsons?

What was he doing in Johnson, ID, between 5:36 pm and 8:30 pm? The sun would have started setting by then. Is this when/where he disposed of the weapon?

Johnson, ID, is a little over 2 hours away from his apartment and is quite rural.

I don't get the connect of Johnson to Moscow??? Looks more like wilderness thing to me.
There is a Johnson, WA between Pullman and Clarkston.....It's much closer....

Does Walmart sell KABar knives? Will a Walmart cctv come into trial?
Only asking as this happens in so many trials!
Maybe knock offs because I dont think they'd have the Marines stamp on the sheath.

Just wanted to reiterate my deep
admiration for all the LE and prosecutors involved in arresting Bryan.

IMO the coordination and cooperation among all of them—-Idaho, the FBI and Pennsylvania, appear to be flawless.

It was so professional for Chief Fry and everyone involved to maintain the secrecy of this cross-country logistically complicated arrest, despite the media and public blaming Idaho LE for allegedly not knowing anything.

They gave just the info about the Elantra and kept everything else out of view in order to effect his capture.

And all of them were very circumspect in what they would and mostly wouldn’t answer in the press conferences.

All in order to pull this off with no leaks to tip off the suspect, and to not injure the case in court.

I want to say I’d like to shake the hands of all involved, which I do, (but really I’d like to marry all of them if I could)!

God bless them all and may BK get what’s coming to him.
Not to mention the father of one victim growing increasingly aggressive in his interviews regarding LE's investigation, ability and experience--including things such as being called "cowardly" (it's still reported as an actual statement by SG on Fox).

I'll admit--I absolutely was beginning to question LEOs in this case. I still have various questions pertaining to the timeline of information they received & when they acted on it. But without question they all should be COMMENDED for their performance.

That's not even bringing up that they were able to keep SO MUCH of this case close to the vest without leaks....
--No one knew a Door Dash driver was delivering food at 4am or that XK was on TikTok at 412am.
--No one had ANY idea that only ONE roomate was on bottom floor and the other was in room everyone assumed was empty on 2nd.
--Everyone was freaking out about the dog and making JDs life a living hell because the "dog didn't bark" and therefore it must have known the killer...and yet dog barked. Apparently a lot.

I seriously hope that 80% of REDDIT, You Tube, even on here....hell all of social media...take a long look in the mirror. The way the surviving roomates (VICTIMS too), the families, the boyfriends, even random professors names were mercilessly dragged thru the mud was SICKENING.

AND ITS STILL HAPPENING.

Probably would be best if the family didn't have to read or hear these things yet. It's so soon after their child's death to hear such horrid details. The families don't even have time to process the loss.

Each person mourns and copes differently. The details are heartbreaking but would be worse if the families were left to find this information through the media.

Based on my own experience, the families get this information ahead of the media and throughout they, they do have access to counselling and victims advocates.

I'm going to guess BK was online right before he left his place at 2:47am. I'm guessing he was browsing their pics and/or looking at other undesirable websites (sexual, violent, or gory) to rev himself up.

I'm going to guess he made the choice to murder that day or late that night after being triggered or thinking the timing has aligned and is right (maybe K being in town).

I think he half planned/obsessed about murdering for awhile. But I sure wanting to know what his internet history was a couple days and night of the murder. JMO, MOO
Hope he didn't plant a surveillance camera inside the home prior to the murders. But if he did, I hope they find that evidence. There are so many dangerous humans living amongst us, with all types of creepy issues.

Shoe print.
DNA on sheath button.
(I was about to suggest he had partially eaten the food Xana had ordered but he hadn't time and it possibly wasn't vegan)
i think the 'targeted' could have referred to the house of students when they said it originally ,later confirmed by his 12 visits to the area of the house since June.
It may be that his failure to kill D suggested to them that he had only come for the others, initially.?
I think the survival of DM was likely the “thing” (they probably couldn’t disclose it was a person because it might tip BK off) they were referencing.
