my thoughts are that the 911 call has little or no importance in the case, and that the discussion has been overly extensive.
With full respect to those who are focused on the 911 call, I recognize that it may have importance but I don't find it suspicious that it's being held back. There are numerous reasons why it might be justified, with the front runner for me being a potential situation where the caller(s) begin to realize what has happened to their roommates and speculate a name of who they think is responsible. This might lead the PD to the quick conclusion that this was a targeted attack that does not threaten the general public.

In this scenario, LE may not share it publicly to avoid tipping their hand and/or giving the public (someone who may be innocent) a name to target.

Any way you look at it, though, it doesn't impact who, how, or why the murders occurred; and I lean in the direction of trusting their judgement in whether or not it provides value for the general public.

Good point, I don't think you can trust that you're safe. I mean... there's a maniac out there with a giant knife.
yes, i certainly wouldn't. so it was a targeted attack, but until he's in custody i'm not feeling safe regardless of the motive. lets say he was infatuated with one or more of the girls ok so what's to say he hasn't moved on to someone else now? or maybe not a sexual motive but was angry ok so what if he gets angry at someone else? whatever the motive was, it could theoretically be transferred to someone else now which is obviously unsettling.

IMO, "no threat" can only be confidently stated once perp is in custody. MOO

Exactly. That is just common sense. People should make good personal safety decisions for themselves. And not wait for others to make that decision for them. There are too many people who die because they wait for someone else to save them. First responders can't be everywhere and they might not get to you for awhile. There is a psychopath with a big knife on the loose. Take precautions! Imo.

Snell says that LE are making 'substantial progress'

Local news channel, reporter who's covered case since the outset

IMO investigators will develop a DNA profile from the scene. They will learn that blood matches the profile for each of the four victims and for one unknown male profile. This will take a lot of time and effort with all the known people to have been at the crime scene. IMO this isn’t an easy crime scene to process. It will be difficult to develop DNA profiles for this case. It will likely take weeks if not a month or more.

They will apply for and be granted search warrants for call detail records, historical cell site information.

Once they have enough probable cause they will apply for a search warrant to a residence of their suspect. Again, more testing will be needed and it will take more time.

local TV channel again, published 13 hrs ago

Dean of Students claims that he can't give a number as to how many students have returned but that the ' vast majority ' have done so
otoh reporters say that Moscow is very quiet & has seen more LE

also interviews a young mum who lives directly across from the house - appears that she was breastfeeding at the time but didn't hear anything

snell seems to imply that collection of vehicles may be due to a change in direction - ambiguous though

"Making substantial progress" probably means LE has or almost has a DNA profile of the killer, after which the process of eliminating persons of interest should be easy. If he (and the general consensus seems to be that the killer is male) is, as a profiler has indicated, male, young, someone who knew the victims, someone who is/was a hunter or butcher, and someone who owned and/or was interested in knives, LE must be narrowing in on people to investigate.

There has been lots of speculation that the killer was interested in one of the women. I wonder if he could be gay, possibly not out of the closet and conflicted about his sexuality, and have been interested in Ethan. Perhaps he was angry with Ethan for not returning his overtures and with Xana for being the object of Ethan's affections.

Surely they have reviewed surveillance from a wal-mart in Moscow in the hours just after murder tine. For whatever reason, it seems that perps often go to a WM in the hours following a homicide

People talk like LE owes us facts and info. If I was LE and I didn't have direct evidence that uncovers a suspect, I'm gonna play the game. I'm gonna throw out false and misleading info to maybe trip the suspect.

"We got the suspects DNA."

Suspect is watching the news, he's thinking hard about at which point he possibly left DNA behind. He's probably gonna bolt. Suddenly professors are wondering where he is or bosses are wondering why this guy stopped coming into work. Boom, there's a lead.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

The only thing we've heard "officially" is that the dog was given to Animal Services and they eventually released the dog to a responsible party. They will not clarify anything beyond that (no times, no ID of the person, etc.)

Current theory:
Single male, college-aged, lives within walking distance. He may be a current student, or maybe just a local who blends in well with the college crowd.

UNSUB is obsessed with murder and serial murder, and his online browsing habits will reflect that, tho he may not ever reveal this interest to others. He feels socially inferior to the residents of 1122, and has likely never had any kind of romantic relationship. He's basically an Incel, but would never call himself that, or belong to any group. While greatly insecure about his social abilities, UNSUB nonetheless feel himself a superior being, with permission to judge and kill others.

UNSUB is a skilled and experienced hunter - very comfortable with blood and killing and knives. Hunting skills include an ability to patiently watch, unmoving, for a long time.

UNSUB came into contact with one or more of the victims thru mutual social contacts - perhaps even at a party at the King Rd house. He became obsessed with the household itself, but because of the timing of Kaylee's return from her parents' house, I feel that she is the main source of his rage, for some reason.

UNSUB spent a great deal of time watching 1122 from a nearby vantage point in the trees; there is an area southwest of 1122 that offers a clear view of the entire back of the house. Google Maps street level of that area is from 2007; it's clear from street level shots from the corner of King and Queen, taken in 2021, that the structure that were in that cul de sac have been torn down, leaving an open area. I've seen a recent photo of the area, showing an abandoned couch, and a clean view of 1122.

UNSUB may have been at the Corner Club on the night of the murders, saw that Kaylee was back in town, and, from listening in the bar conversation, realized she was soon moving away again. He then leaves the bar, heads to 1122, and finding it empty, with perhaps the kitchen slider open, enters and does a walkabout, leaving the window of the unoccupied bedroom on the 2nd floor unlocked for future entry.

UNSUB then leaves the house, returns to the bar, and leaves before K & M do, returning to his own home and then walking to his blind to watch the house. When all the light finally go dark, he enters. Knowing E and X are on the 2nd floor, and not wanting to encounter them on the way out, he kills them first as they sleep - E first, then X, as she wakens in response to E's stabbing (resulting defense wounds).

UNSUB then goes to the 3rd floor, finds K & M deeply asleep, and kills them without a struggle.

UNSUB locks the girls bedroom doors, as well as the kitchen slider, and leaves thru the window he came in by.
I believe he may have left E & X's room unlocked for some reason, and one of the 1st floor roommates looked in their room, called out to them and got no response. She may have seen other things that made her think there was something amiss, and contacted maybe E's brother to check on him, resulting in the 911 call.

Also, UNSUB may have "creepy-crawled" 1122 previous to the attack to familiarize himself with the layout and inhabitants...and the dog.

Here are photo files showing the area I believe he may have watched from. Note the difference between 2007 and 2021View attachment 383840View attachment 383841View attachment 383842

*The area swirled in the top image is the cul de sac.
Interesting aerial that you posted, I did not realize that 1260 Walenta was that close to the back of property, I went through surrounding Google street view about a week ago to get an idea of how open & wooded it is, how far homes are set back in general, and noticed on Walenta there is an unobstructed view of/and proximate to street from a Ring camera on that home (or what appears to be a ring camera), IMO.. if in fact it is, and the perp was on foot, bike or car and passed in front of that Walenta home, hoping here LE has something to look at. AMOO..

IMO they have a suspect. They are waiting for testing to come back to make an arrest.
I hope you are correct. LE does not seem to be desperate or begging for the public's help. No reward money even though it is early for that, as others have already pointed out. If they have a suspect or POI they may not say so. < MOO

I hope you are correct. However, one would think that a case with this amount of attention the tests would have already come back. I would think that everything in this case has been expedited.

I was checking info on Law & Crime and ran across this underneath.
It could be nothing. It could be escalation. Idk.
This crime has consumed me. One of my biggest fears. A break in/ someone hiding inside.

Those poor kids did not deserve this ending. I hope justice prevails soon-ish.

sad

so the students plan to come in for the vigil but plan to go home again ' because they don't feel safe here'
I wouldn't either.
We know nothing about the perp/s
their motive
or whether or if or where they are likely to strike again.

I understand and I fully respect LE reasons for with holding information.
I support it.

It is my hope, and I suppose, my belief that a case like this receives high priority from FBI profilers and I understand why this is not public information. It's possible it could provoke killer to escalate.

I'm very uneasy. I'm concerned the online gossip could do likewise.

I imagine profilers and analysts have access to darkest web where acts such as mass murders are praised and exalted. I haven't gone there and I'd rather not.

MOO:
For some reason I thought the same thing.
Not necessarily Walmart alone, but possibly other businesses in the area where people shop, congregate, etc (gas stations, truck stops, diners, anything open 24 hours). Also look at the hours both before and after the suspected time of attacks. Possibly look for something unusual happening, or someone acting suspiciously.

The amount of stress on the killer has to overwhelming. Unless it is a complete lone wolf, there will be those around that person who will notice they seem a little “off” in last couple weeks. Also, any suicides in that area should also be considered.
