I believe he may not have killed a human before [wouldn't bet on it] but I think he'll kill again as I think he's got severe reaction to alcohol or other substance. When coupled with perceived slight from someone, he'll likely snap again. JMO.
Another thing that's troubling is both the confidence and skill used, almost like a pro given what we know currently. MOO

agree and think this is another reason that MPD will want very tight media control. I can't imagine LE ever wanting to publicise new leads until they have arrested somebody and I can't imagine them even hinting at that with the parents. It's too risky.

Imagine the uproar if somebody hinted that his time was near and then he killed himself
Two interviewees committed suicide after being “interviewed” by a National tv personality So it does happen.

Do people think perp has killed before and will again, if not caught?
These murders do not strike me as a spur of the moment event. I do think he has practiced and will do it again in some shape or form. The coward is a hater.
The assailant is a dangerous psychopath, IMO

I guess it's determined there was no door at 2nd floor to 1st floor stairway. I think this has to be someone who was partying at the house which party appeared to be on 2nd floor then maybe when 2 3rd floor roommates got home they also partied at 2nd floor. I think the killer had some visual contact with all four victims prior to the 4 victims going to sleep. I hope the police also looked into any/all food delivery person(s) who could serve as witnesses to if there was a party going on when food delivered if any.
Yeah, there is no door between the 1st floor and 2nd floor… I work in the real estate field and tracked down photos and FP pre/post renovation. From the second floor to the first floor, there is just an open stairway with kneewall that leads right to the bottom floor. If memory serves, you can see this in the post-reno photos on Zillow, also.

"Seek the cause, and you will learn the end"

Ok, fake mystical insights aside...

I think it helps to understand the area and home. The area is a student district. Students like inexpensive rents and land lords like to maximize occupants via additional rooms or micro apartments while being with in building codes.

In this case, a home was expanded into a three level "split level" on a hill side. The lowest level (there are two ground floors), does not sit immediately below the other levels. Rather, it is behind of (or in front of) depending on the approach of the other levels. So, there would not have been noise coming though the ceiling per se.

It is also possible that an attacker might not realize there was another level to the house. Or, even if if he realized it, might conclude that it was a garage.

Factor the quirky lay out into the fact that the other two residents may of had a few to drink themselves, and I think its credible that they did not hear anything.
Half of Level 2 sits directly on top of Level 1.

If you look at the early news reports, LE said it was like nothing they’d ever seen in 20 years. Coroner said multiple stab wounds to upper body. Blood seeping out side of house indicated it was bloody also… LE have never said this so directly.
Coroner said one fatal wound and multiple other wounds on each body.

I could be wrong, but I think the university students are included in that total population number. If so, by the time you add in professors, admin, and service personnel, over half the population studies or works at the university.
Not quite- there is some overlap, but UI student enrollment is around 12,000 and our non-UI-student population is around 25,000. UI is a large employer in this area (around 2000, IIRC), but they don’t all live in Moscow, Moscow folks work elsewhere, etc. So, I don’t think over half of our population works/studies at UI, but I can’t break it down further without more research not applicable to the quadruple murder.

I'm very confused...was there a party? Where is the report on that?
I have not seen a party that night reported, just neighbors saying there are usually parties there both nights on the weekend, what we do know is E&X were at his frat (drinking likely) and the girls were also at a party where drinking was likely.

I live an weird small city but if you include the Uni and staff it\s almost double according to voter records.

Here I am again :)
LE has not said that it is coveted. Several Profilers, including the esteemed O’Toole in different interviews suggested that he probably did not dispose of it, would not part with it because it is precious, meaningful to him. He treasures it.
Covet is an interesting word to use in this context, linguistically speaking. It’s rarely heard in secular discourse. It goes more to desiring something that does not belong to you. MOO

JMO If killing people is his hobby I highly doubt he would just throw it away. Knives are his tools. A carpenter wouldn’t throw away a hammer after every use.

Wait a minute, it sounds like K's dad, in his interview, was saying that he had established a "footprint" behavior pattern that his daughter (victim) typically followed, and that her behavior footprint had changed. He actually stated "behavior of the victims" but I would assume he only knows his daughter's typical behavior. Am I reading this right?

Why would her behavior change right before she was murdered? Because she was being stalked, or became involved in some way with someone who was bad news?

I feel like this is an important piece of information that he divulged.
I think so too

6 people slept at house night of 11/12/22, maybe all 6 were on lease. In Idaho, person needs to be at least 18 years old to be leaseholder and each leaseholder needs to occupy house/apartment in State of Idaho.
E was one of the 6, and was not a leaseholder, so that is not possible, unless this entire time LE has been withholding from the public that there was an additional person in the home that night, which I highly doubt. According to police, in addition to the killer or killers, there were six people in the home that night… the four victims, and the two surviving roommates.

Maybe then the victim who had defensive wounds and who is referenced as unconscious person in 911 call was stabbed on 2nd floor and in position on the floor right at stairway- thus body on floor blocked killer from going downstairs. This could be a reason killer did not go down to 1st floor.

Thank you, that makes sense.

I guess I don't understand what they mean by RESIDENCE. To me, the residence and the occupants are the same. So saying the residence was the target means the occupants were the target as well. Maybe I'm overthinking. I am known to do that, ha
To target the residence means to target the actual house, regardless of who was living there. The perp might not even know.

To target the occupants is to target the people.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought maybe he lived there because of Xana's Dad's statement: "[W]hen I went up there she, I saw her just a week before that and she changed a lot," Kernodle told the outlet. "She had a life. She got to see what it was like to have a boyfriend you live with. And she really turned around. She was really responsible. Helping him out with his studies and stuff. I was really impressed." University of Idaho victim's father says Xana Kernodle had 'bruises,' put up a fight against killer

Well I have come full circle on my suspect assumptions. So if I am full circle my answer is no.
I agree, G Dad saying "bruised and torn" leads me to first time inexperienced (imho)

I think so too
Makes me think this wasn't a spur of the moment or random thing. Maybe she saw it coming and that's why she was acting differently.

IMO, that supposition is rife with speculation, but also highly implausible due to being incongruent with other information LE and ME have already confirmed/denied.

Well if there is blood outside the house, then it's plausible that the house wasn't built well and it could have dripped from the floor above. What is above these cabinets?
To me, it looks like a door and door frame rather than cabinets and that the miscellaneous items are sitting on top of a wood table rather than the floor.
