How did they know it was one (which one, X or E?) if they had not seen anything?
i think it was they believed at least ONE to be passed out. also i imagine people had alarms going, or maybe the surviving vics were receiving calls/texts from the mutuals who were expecting one of the victims to be awake for plans. JMO

Can we step back for a minute to a post on one of the earlier threads regarding the HVAC van that was on the scene of the investigation in one of the pictures? I’d like to know a professional opinion, be it LE, HVAC specialist or otherwise, why they would have been called to the house during the investigation. IMO this is a pivotal piece of information that was barely touched upon.
can you link to it?

found it

ETA:
Heating broke/ needed an adjustment ;)

i think i personally brushed it off as just routine checking up on the HVAC to make sure the crime scene wasn't affected by it being too cold or too hot. then again, i don't know much about HVAC. that was just my first reaction to it.

Right and being close friends had the door been unlocked they would’ve gone in. That’s what friends do. No way they saw the crime scene and assumed they were passed out. That door had to have been locked. My theory.

Respectfully, that statement in no way states that the roommates did not see anything. If they had seen nothing, why would they assume that someone was passed out, as opposed to just being soundly asleep? I think they saw a roommate, lying on a floor, which would make someone assume that perhaps they were not just asleep. Alternately, I believe they may have attempted to get into the 2nd floor bedroom, and perhaps someone was lying against the door, so that they were unable to get it open enough to get in.

I still believe that they saw someone they knew was not just asleep or passed out. They may have described the person as possibly "passed out", but I believe that was because they could not accept what they knew they were looking at. JMO

I was responding to your comments that the roommates "were absolutely terrified" by whatever they saw:
I personally think the girls saw more than just an "unconscious" roommate, and they knew it. I think they were absolutely terrified, and in shock, and as a 60-something-year-old, I might think I would have reacted differently, but as a 20ish college kid, suddenly aware something horrific has happened in the home I shared with good friends, I am not certain that any of us would have been thinking more logically.
My opinion: the facts as provided by MPD suggest the roommates did not discover the crime scene prior to summoning friends. I don't believe the roommates would ever mistake a stabbing victim's body for someone passed out. That is what I mean when I say they did not discover the crime scene. Concerned, yes. Terrified, no.

There are limitless possibilities for what they actually saw or discovered, and I do not wish to speculate further.

Ultimately these are irrelevant details for this particular discussion. <modsnip> On that critical point we agree - they did not behave in a suspicious manner.

Regarding the video of the noise complaint from 1st September), maybe it’s just me but I find it odd that a party is going on at the house & none of the actual housemates are there? Just wondering if this is normal in college towns? MOO
Im 99% positive that B (surviving Roomate) opened the door.

<modsnip - sleuthing someone who has not been named a suspect>

Just a guess. I know that many homeowners, especially landlords, have contracts with HVAC companies to periodically come and change the filters. Maybe this was just a regularly scheduled visit for that purpose?

How did they know it was one (which one, X or E?) if they had not seen anything? Where was the other one? Did they think E left and X couldn't wake up?
I think those words came from reporters, not likely accurate to what the survivors saw or said or thought. I’m unsure why some are questioning their actions.
Nothing sus there IMO

We do not have sufficient information to answer that question. I trust they had their reasons, of which there are many possibilities.

I want to insert this response to the bottom of the 911 call Cliffs Notes. Brilliantly stated!

The quote is from the police summary.

They would have equipment to look down into the heating vents--our guy has a cable that goes down inside and shows video on his phone of what's in the vents.

Plus I'd speculate she has a high metabolism. ( Might explain why she's totally focused, impatient on getting her food on the later Twitch stream. Easy to get 'hangry' when your metabolism is screaming ' Food! or I'll pass out')

Off the back of that, have also wondered if she fell asleep faster than Kaylee that night ( As soon as head hit the pillow, meanwhile others are awake longer for whatever reason. )

If you are drunk and then smoke weed, often it makes you get more inebriated and tired if you are not a chronic. They could have had a few puffs and after eating...it's lights out.

Yes. I watched it again. It was definitely Maddie. My bad. Sorry. I updated the original post accordingly. Thanks for clarifying this matter.
Only reason I knew was because I've watched that crazy video several times looking for the white car everyone says you can see. Lol I've yet to see it. Actually, I've only seen the blurry side view LE released.:)

Hi to all new people, and just a reminder to please read the rules of WS regarding whose names we are allowed to mention here. I don't want to see the mods having to shut down this thread.

I’ve seen the footage in other places, clips and this longer version is from NewsNation
Madee is walking pretty smoothly, she is not staggering like she is later. Is she?

At the GrubTruck she is staggering, and swaying while standing still

Long time lurker on this site... apologize if this has already been answered, but have the toxicology reports been released? I cannot wrap my head around 4 people not putting up more of a fight by at least screaming. Even if one was passed out from drinking, how could the killer make it to 4 ppl on 2 different floors?

HVAC GM here.

I could vouch for a few reasons they are there. 1) Something is wrong with the heat and the police/investigators need it working properly. 2) There is something that needs to be moved/removed (duct work, registers, duct boots, etc) OR 3) the home may have filtration systems with filters that could possibly catch some evidence (rare.)

I don't find this likely, because it would be in poor taste personally, but it could be a bi-annual maintenance visit.

Which video are you referring to, the reporter outside the house and the white car that zooms by on upper street?

Yes. The MadGreek restaurant.Xanas and Maddies Sorority. The Corner Club. Ethan’s Fraternity. Search every place where the roommates went in pairs.
Yes, that is a good idea, but I meant a place where it would be easy to see or talk to Xana and Maddie together. I meant a place where Xana and Maddie would have been together since the killer went into two rooms. Or it could be possible that the killer had planned to kill everyone in the house and did not know about the two roommates on the first floor because of the floor layout.

Not released. May never be released prior to trial.

Lurk less, post more! :)
