This thread is moving fast and furiously so this question may have been answered. The murders occurred before Thanksgiving break, then it is my understanding students returned after Thanksgiving break until Christmas break, is this correct? Because although it seems like he beelined it out of the area after the murders, he would have had to have returned after Thanksgiving and was there until Christmas break. I am curious. If he did not return after Thanksgiving that would be interesting to note. But if he did, that too would be interesting to note for other reasons. Just wondering.

My understanding is they waive your tuition and give you housing but you work for free as a TA on top of your course-load and research.

IMO it's extremely exploitive and few people who graduate from these programs get the Academic jobs they're promised. These schools are just churning out worthless PhDs for free labor. But that's for another thread.
Yes. Funded programs usually offer TAship with tuition waiver (student pays taxes and fees), low cost health insurance, and low stipend (~$16-19k/yr).

WSU Crim is a renowned program though. This dolt could've had a great life in academia had he not had a schism of some sort.

But the pressure. Oh, the pressure and doubt and loneliness of a doctorate program. If one isn't mentally well, there is little to no way to conquer the demons.
Yeah I was basing my comments on many friends and colleagues who went into highly ranked PhD programs with promises of ivy-league professorships and they slaved away for years doing research for other people, running labs, and when they graduated there mysteriously were only more low-paid fellowships available.

There have been studies recently about the very few tenure-track positions actually open compared to the numbers of people that are graduating. The whole system is predatory IMO.

At least with law, which people are very vocal to complaint about, even if you don't get the dream job you're pitched you can still hang a shingle and do your own thing. Not many history PhDs setting up solo consulting shops that can pay the bills.

What puzzles me the most is the timing of the survey. It was posted in May. He graduated that semester, so in May he should not have been starting any projects, he should have been finalizing projects, submitting a thesis paper, etc.

Maybe he had a summer course? But summer courses don't start in May... It's just odd to me.
He posted a link to his survey numerous times on reddit during the first few weeks of June, 2022. Most likely June 1 - June 22, allowing for a few hours time zone differential, so I can’t be 100% sure. Oldest date was 212 days ago, most recent 190 days ago. No precise time stamps so oldest could have been on the evening on May 31 or something. Also might have deleted earlier posts, but as of earlier today, perhaps a dozen or so posts were still up, all posted 190-212 days ago.

Here's one easy google find on his becoming aggressive.

Recalling how their friendship soured, Mcloughlin added: 'He always wanted to fight somebody, he was bullying people. We started cutting him off from our friend group because he was 100 percent a different person.'

However, for some people, a focus on healthy eating can become obsessive and develop into an eating disorder known as orthorexia, or orthorexia nervosa.

Has this been posted? (Probably a repeat but the thread has been moving so quickly....)

From:
" Professor Snyder particularly enjoys teaching the courses covering the intersection of police work and the courts, particularly substantive Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, Evidence, and the Courts in America."

So BK was a TA for some of these courses

He could be vegan because he had to go hunting as a kid. We don't know much yet about his background, so it's premature imo to cross everything off the list.

Wow. What an interesting hypothesis. Very little psychological or psychiatric research or any other research done on *this* subject. But there are data from non-American cultures about the impact of hunting on kids - it's not always easy for them to become hunters.

I hope we get a biography of this person. Or someone gets to study them in prison. It's the kind of thing I would love to do - too old now. Someone needs to do it. Frankly, criminologists and criminal justice majors should jump on it.

WSU Journalism professor comments on the arrest of grad student from his campus:

Wonder if he resided in grad housing?

If so, it would likely explain the calm scene around the housing.
I also think my son didn't need to leave grad housing during Christmas.

I thought I saw mid-May on the reddit posts, but I may have been mistaken. Early - Mid June would be more inline with a summer course.

I would caution anyone now and in the future to not read too much into what he has written or what he will say.

This is a highly manipulative person that will be an untrustworthy narrator.

He may in the future position himself as an expert and use that for attention, visits, and interactions with the public or his future fans.

He may withhold special information and/or makeup details only he would know in order to control, or to preserve such information as his trophies.

His work will have little to no academic significance and his words are only to be understood as useful only to himself, and in the limited context of what law enforcement can verify.

I for one have no interest in reading what this person has written or hearing them in the future should they prove to be guilty of these crimes.

Don’t let this type of person keep manipulating.

He must have a really good game face if his entire family works in mental health per this article and no one had a clue. He almost seems to have different personalities. Reminds me a bit of Russel Williams.

I wonder if he was on anti psychotics or something similar, that caused the personality change and weight loss.

I'm so glad they caught him!!

BBM below
"Neighbors at the Steptoe Village, the WSU housing complex mostly inhabited by graduate or PhD students, among others, described the area as "quiet" and nestled in the city of Pullman, which is typically "so safe." "

Remember the Jack in the Box bag on the 1122 King kitchen table in one of the photos published on the DM and then Fox News IIRC ? And in prior threads there was discussion about how the closest Jack in the Box was in Pullman?
Here is a visual of how close the Pullman Jack in the Box is to the Steptoe Village student apartments where BK lived:

Was anyone on WS ever able to see the date and/or time on the Jack in the Box bag receipt? I can't remember.
Anyway, I wonder if BK first saw some or all of them in Pullman (could have been before 11/13), followed them to Moscow at some point, and remained fixated.
BK didn't live in Pullman for very long, only 3-5 mos depending on whether his lease started in Summer or Fall. Yikes!

who thinks BK has already lawyered up & is ' No Comment' to all questions?

or who thinks that FBI's finest are already building up a rapport with him?

Per classmates, he was attending classes after the murders. I think he went home for the holidays. I don't think he fled campus after the murders. MOO

IMO it is premature and very unfair to already cast aspersions on BK’s family and on DeSales University because of their Catholic beliefs, and how that may have formed Bryan.

I am not a Catholic, but I know Catholicism doesn’t preach “Thou SHALL kill.”

At this point I hold Bryan and Bryan alone responsible for his actions.

My opinion.
Thank you for this post!
