Mr. Carbuff has done some longer hikes (a week to 10 days at a time) and some of his friends have hiked the AT. Most people do it in sections because they can't get five or six months off to do the whole thing all at once, but the ones who do tend to go looking for another long hike. It's kind of addictive, I gather.

If any of these hikers saw anything, it would probably be really difficult to track them down...

Still thinking about the different arrival dates... and we still don't know when the Stage Stop sighting occurred...

Could it be possible that JM and DK did not realize GGP had brought a guest (IR)? Maybe until after DeOrr vanished?

They didn't even mention the 4th adult camper in their interview. Maybe they didn't know IR was in a tent on his own?

Does this make sense? Maybe they arrived at 9:30 pm and just went to sleep, not knowing GGP had brought a friend. The next morning, IR is off fishing, and GGP doesn't mention IR to DeOrr's parents, so they think it's just them at the campsite... is it possible they weren't aware of IR for a while?

It would probably be worth putting out messages on the hiking boards and such, though. Distance hiking is a pretty small world and word gets around.

That's interesting thinking, but why wouldn't GGP mention he brought a friend??

Humans in my example were LE. I was just trying to show that on the fourth search a "specialist" dog indicated but LE ignored it because they had searched and found nothing.

Respectfully cut for brevity....

Do you have links for this information TheTruthWillOut?I have read most all information posted and I do not remember reading anything about LE ignoring a dog indication because of searching and finding nothing. Thank you.

Maybe he *forgot* to mention it? Maybe he didn't get around to mentioning it? Maybe he didn't want to mention it...

After all, DK and JM didn't mention IR in their interview either.

Are you thinking Deorr was never there (at that campground) then? It is something I've thought about but I really don't want it to go in that direction. Then again I recently went down the rabbit hole of the Websleuths archive and read all 47? threads of the Hailey Dunn case.....and well..

If you don't feel you can share your theory, that's fine.
He was there, IMO. i am not sure he returned from the store and i am not sure how long he was there at the campground..JMO

Are there any long distance trails near the campground? If hikers are stopping in Leadore, what trail are they hiking on?

Here you go: removed link to Daily Mail article

TTWO, I think you might have linked the wrong article. That article is about Tia Sharp, not little Deorr.

Did LE talk to IR the day DeOrr went missing? Or did they learn he was there during their investigation? If it is the former perhaps LE asked the family not to mention him for some reason. If it is the latter, I have some questions.

I think it was the former. I'm also pretty sure there were a couple of subjects LE wanted left out of the interview.

I thought about that after I read what you wrote and maybe not. If they received packages or registered to stay in a room they might have given an address. If they had a cell phone surely some higher power could figure out the names of those pinging off the tower.

I think "will/way".

Heck they might not know they could have valuable information.

BBM - Excellent point & good questions that requires little common sense IMO.

This was in another case being discussed -- not DeOrrs.
