Rainn was with her great-grandparents, not her grandparents.

I'm not so sure. They had dogs out, and they searched the area TWICE already. She was found. This was a field, in the middle of civilization, not a forest, and they missed her TWICE.

I've seen it time and again, they get found right where LE said they searched exhaustively. That's why I have learned to not point fingers without any facts, I didn't always practice that but I've learned.

Finding lost people can be tough particularly if they keep moving. That's because you may search one spot, and then the lost person moves into that spot after you've searched it -- but are gone again when you come back to search it again. Rainn was probably moving around at least somewhat while they were looking for her.

It's when people stop moving that they are most likely to be found.

re: SM

I'm in my 40s, and some of the stuff I've seen on SM was stuff we absolutely kept private back in the day. I saw a couple I knew have a knock-down, drag-out fight on social media of all places, in the comments, slinging accusations back and forth, calling names, behaving like nothing I'd ever seen before. Right there on Facebook in front of all their online and real life friends. I've seen more people than I care to remember post pictures of themselves in their bathrooms (dirty as often as not). I've seen people overshare to the point that I was embarrassed for them. It's a much different world than the world I lived in during my 20s. (And to clarify, these are people I know rather than people we're discussing -- I want to make that crystal clear). I even got an unwanted front row seat to a very public divorce (twice!) of people who are much closer to my age.

If a young couple were interacting publicly with people in a situation such as this, well, it's not what I would do, but it's also not really outside the range of normal as far as I can tell. (However, I'd also posit that if they are hanging around in negative forums, it's probably not going to do their emotional health any good). All speculation and my opinion/experience only.

Yeah, like a T-shirt, "I See Stupid People". Totally agree. I truly believe that SM encourages and perpetuates stupidity. JMO

Have we ever been shown a photo of a picture of deorr in the clothes he was last in OR a picture of the clothes?

I don't recall.

  • #489
I believe that if DeOrr was anywhere in that area he would have been found.

The reservoir not so sure. But they did use a special kind of Sonar, up thread it talks about it, that is pretty special in locating bodies.

I don't think he was there.

How far into the reservoir do you think Deorr could toddle with those over sized boots? Same with the creek. Surely there'd be some sign in the knee-high water. jmo

Yes true. I watched the interview with the man that found her. Seems he saw the Color of her shirt in the distance and called her name. Purple I think.

DeOrrs camo would be hard to locate it would blend right in.

yes. This. All of this. Couldn't agree more. And it's why as frustrating as it can be sometimes not being able to discuss rumours seen on social media on WS, it's a very good rule indeed.

Rainn has made me rethink DeOrr's case.

All I know is that if it were my child, I'd have recent pictures posted as quickly as possible, as well as photos of the clothing, with exact descriptions of the size, color, etc.

If I were traveling when the child went missing, I'd provide info in detail on my exact route, any stops that were made, and any interactions I could remember - verbal or not. I'd be very clear about where I was and when, and the exact situation that led to the child being out of my sight.

I would be certain everyone knew exactly who we were with, and what vehicles were ours (because how can someone know if a vehicle is suspicious unless they know which ones aren't?).

When the opportunity arose for a media appearance I would take it, and put my child's name and face out there as often as possible. Any possible sightings would be checked out, and I'd try to keep the public informed on why they didn't turn out to be credible. If a PI or attorney volunteered their services to me, I'd accept, but I wouldn't let them completely take over and convolute the information.

I would probably try to answer as many questions as I could on social media if time permitted, or have someone close to me handle that, so the correct info is being shared and any errors caught asap. If I went to a media interview and assured them twice I would address a certain rumor - I would address it, not change the subject.

If people wanted to accuse me of anything in social media, let them have at it. It wouldn't matter as long as I was doing everything I could to find out what happened to my child. But if it appeared that I wasn't doing anything but "addressing rumors" on FB, then they'd probably have a right to be critical of me.

But that's just what I would do.

Rethink it in what way?

Rethink it in what way?

i figured that the area was apparently searched thoroughly multiple times to the extent if he was there, he'd have been found. Now I'm less certain of that.

ETA: more for clarity:
it took 48 hours to find Rainn, wearing a purple top (high contrast to environment) in a *field* that had been searched *twice*.
Deorr was in camo gear, in a wilderness environment. I don't know how many times each part of the search area has been searched, for comparison. But it made me think how possible it is that he has simply been missed, given how much more difficult the terrain (not flat, tree cover, etc) and that he was not in very 'obvious' clothing. I think it's quite possible, now.

People underestimated the chance that little Rainn would escape a garage door and go into the night on her own. I think perhaps we underestimate too, how able Deorr would have been to traverse the terrain at the campsite even in his boots on his own.

Sat here catching up and I realise that I never saw or found an answer to a question I had nearly 2 months ago...

Was the campsite toilet drained & contents examined after DK Jr "disappeared". To me it seems like a good place to dispose of a small body (if I was that way inclined, which I am not btw!)

Does anyone else know?

iirc, it was searched. I think not only could a body be hidden there, but a small child could also easily fall in it. It would be grossly negligent to not have searched it thoroughly.

(Poor baby ... the idea of him in a toilet is almost more than I can stomach!)

I have never seen that reported. And even if it was done..the debris would be sucked in by a hose, right? Assuming the diameter of the hose is large, i dont know how this helps. Unless someone gets down in the muck..wouldnt the baby just get sucked by the hose into the septic tank truck.. assuming a truck of that size (and they are BIG) can even make it up the winding unpaved roads. I agree that it's possible that Deorr could be out in the wilderness somewhere (especially wearing camo) but I do not understand why there seems to be no searching for him? Every attempt at organizing a search team has been cancelled or called off. It seems no one is too interested (or allowed?) in continuing to look for him up there, at least as far as I can tell. Maybe LE and/or the FBI are searching up there? It seems like more large-scale searching could turn up something - even if it's just a boot or toy car, it could be a major clue. I'm just so baffled with this case. At this point, I assume the staring man is no longer a lead. Would it be too hard for the PI to make a short statement telling the public to lay off looking for the curly haired guy in the Rubicon? What's the point of going on the news and the radio and making a big fuss about this guy and then just dropping it? Nothing makes sense in this case.
