Odds of some retirement or other accounts where money is typically tied up long term and isn't quite as liquid is a possibility. As much money as Charles appears to have been bringing in and given the industry he worked in I'd be amazed if there wasn't a significant amount in things like that. However, that doesn't mean there was nearly enough to finance staying at the Marriot indefinitely, even at the cheaper $300/night rate.
No one knows where these children are.
The impression that I received from the "Dateline" show, is that LEO is collecting evidence at this time.
Yes but...MOO, I am no legal expert...all the assets are under the sole control of LV the second the death certificate for CV is issued. The estate goes to probate where an executor is appointed and people or businesses can try to get some of the money, but that takes time. Before those legal moves are made she could have made off with everything. But isn't his estate in probate? Jmo

I so hope they are found soon, but why in heaven's name did she throw away her precious babies photo albums? I keep coming back to how that fits in. MOO.Well someone knows where they are. According to LE Lori knows but she's not talking.
With every day that goes by, I increase my hope that she will slip up and tell the right person the truth. I hope she tells someone she thinks she can trust and that person bravely contacts the FBI so that these children can be found and/or arrest(s) made of the responsible parties. Maybe she has already told someone but they are too afraid, knowing that Alex died. I hope that person or persons can put aside any fears or misplaced loyalty and simply tell LE what they know.
MOO.

I hope someone with legal training or with experience here can chime in, I'm in over my head. The only experience I have is in a "common law" state and not a community property state.
Why does Lori have so much freaking money? lol. MOOFinally, something I can help with, minus my own wild speculation. What would you like to know about probate?
I agree he probably had some retirement accounts. Typically, they have beneficiaries named, no? If he made it a point to remove Lori off of his life insurance as the beneficiary, I would hope that he did the same for any other accounts with significant funds in them. Not sure if anyone has seen anything about other accounts; I myself do not recall hearing about them in any msm.

always, always my question...Where is the money coming from. The only one who even seems to be working is IP, new husband of MBp. Unless it is underground money coming from somewhere...

Welcome, so glad you're here!Actually not a silly question... But before we get to probate...
Lori doesn't have a lot of money, in fact, she is probably deeply, deeply in debt. But she has a lot of ability to take on that debt, and that's what counts.
Chad's probably in the same boat, by the way.
So the real question isn't, " How does Lori have money," it's, " Who thinks Lori has money and what made them have confidence in that fact?"
That’s ok if the world ends soon. Happens all the time. If you knew for sure the world was ending in three months, what’s 18% APR?Actually not a silly question... But before we get to probate...

I'm thinking we might have heard that he had worked there for a period of time. I suspect it wasn't 4 years, but that he setup his account either before going to work at Falls Printing when looking for a job or after getting the job for some reason, maybe networking, but didn't bother to update it when he left. I maybe be remember wrong or confusing this with someone else's employment that came up, but was thinking he worked there for about a year, maybe around when they first moved to Rexburg.
What I find more interesting is that he apparently was getting enough income from the publishing business (and whatever Tammy brought in) to make things work living in Springdale (where, if anything, the cost of living wa probably more) but then picked up this other job not long after moving to Idaho. That was around the JR issues, right?
