I agree he probably had some retirement accounts. Typically, they have beneficiaries named, no? If he made it a point to remove Lori off of his life insurance as the beneficiary, I would hope that he did the same for any other accounts with significant funds in them. Not sure if anyone has seen anything about other accounts; I myself do not recall hearing about them in any msm.

Odds of some retirement or other accounts where money is typically tied up long term and isn't quite as liquid is a possibility. As much money as Charles appears to have been bringing in and given the industry he worked in I'd be amazed if there wasn't a significant amount in things like that. However, that doesn't mean there was nearly enough to finance staying at the Marriot indefinitely, even at the cheaper $300/night rate.

I think at this point what we are watching is based on lust. I think Chad and Lori see the "prepper" type people as a vulnerable group of people to extract money from. At this point, neither Chad nor Lori are actually walking the walk or talking the talk of people that believe anything to do with any of this. MOO.

I know, they aren't even acting as if they actually believe into all these bizarre end of the world things. Per Chad's books, end of the world is a long process, not just the "end." It's not like the world is going to end, it's going to be a long struggle for survival. Well, sitting on a beach isn't preparing you for that struggle.

No one knows where these children are.

The impression that I received from the "Dateline" show, is that LEO is collecting evidence at this time.

Well someone knows where they are. According to LE Lori knows but she's not talking.
With every day that goes by, I increase my hope that she will slip up and tell the right person the truth. I hope she tells someone she thinks she can trust and that person bravely contacts the FBI so that these children can be found and/or arrest(s) made of the responsible parties. Maybe she has already told someone but they are too afraid, knowing that Alex died. I hope that person or persons can put aside any fears or misplaced loyalty and simply tell LE what they know.

MOO.

But isn't his estate in probate? Jmo
Yes but...MOO, I am no legal expert...all the assets are under the sole control of LV the second the death certificate for CV is issued. The estate goes to probate where an executor is appointed and people or businesses can try to get some of the money, but that takes time. Before those legal moves are made she could have made off with everything.

I hope someone with legal training or with experience here can chime in, I'm in over my head. The only experience I have is in a "common law" state and not a community property state.

Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow you die. MOO

That's not how these cults, specifically the AVOW cult/LDS prepper cult that AVOW was a part of, were about though. Lifestyle cults don't want you to run off to an island when you could spend money on their cheap tat. They want you to spend all your spare money on inflatable radiation suits and DIY bunker kits.

I so hope they are found soon, but why in heaven's name did she throw away her precious babies photo albums? I keep coming back to how that fits in. MOO.

Finally, something I can help with, minus my own wild speculation. What would you like to know about probate?

Excellent point. I didn't think about beneficiaries on the account. However, I think that unlike life insurance retirement type accounts, at least in some instances, have requirements that if you're married the spouse has to be the beneficiary or approve putting someone else. This might vary depending on state or company administering the account or other factors, but if I'm not dreaming this up (I won't rule that out either) then it might not be as easy to cover himself here. He might also have viewed the million dollar policy as specifically for use to take care of JJ and that's why he changed it.

always, always my question...Where is the money coming from. The only one who even seems to be working is IP, new husband of MBp. Unless it is underground money coming from somewhere...

I said this before, but I still believe that they are living in luxury on life insurance money (from Tammy at least). If they really believe that the world is ending in July 2020, then burning through a $1 million* in that time is no big deal to them. Lori might also have money from SS payments for the kids, access to Tylee's bank account and any assets from CV that she was able to liquidate. Chad may also be making a small amount from his books sales but I don't buy that it is $30,000 per month currently.
MOO.

*Just a hypothetical on the $1 million, as I don't think we know Tammy's policy amount yet.

Actually not a silly question... But before we get to probate...

Lori doesn't have a lot of money, in fact, she is probably deeply, deeply in debt. But she has a lot of ability to take on that debt, and that's what counts.

Chad's probably in the same boat, by the way.

So the real question isn't, " How does Lori have money," it's, " Who thinks Lori has money and what made them have confidence in that fact?"

Welcome, so glad you're here!

Someone posted a picture on Facebook of a missing flyer for JJ and Tylee at the Princeville Shopping Center in Kauai! I'm sure that it was the handy work of one our WSers! (Portiz?...Portriz...sorry I'm probably messing up the user name)

That’s ok if the world ends soon. Happens all the time. If you knew for sure the world was ending in three months, what’s 18% APR?

I'm thinking we might have heard that he had worked there for a period of time. I suspect it wasn't 4 years, but that he setup his account either before going to work at Falls Printing when looking for a job or after getting the job for some reason, maybe networking, but didn't bother to update it when he left. I maybe be remember wrong or confusing this with someone else's employment that came up, but was thinking he worked there for about a year, maybe around when they first moved to Rexburg.

What I find more interesting is that he apparently was getting enough income from the publishing business (and whatever Tammy brought in) to make things work living in Springdale (where, if anything, the cost of living wa probably more) but then picked up this other job not long after moving to Idaho. That was around the JR issues, right?

BBM It used to be affordable to live in Springville. The prices went up a lot in the last five years, after the Daybells moved. That said, selling in Springville and moving north of Rexburg would have been financially advantageous.

Also to note re: Charles's estate, it is in probate with a DEPENDENT Administration. (Basically meaning it is now micromanaged and everything has to be approved by the courts.)

(per Harris County, TX court case online record search)
