Trying to find if these two suspects were charged and what they were charged with. Somebody earlier said “battery” but I can’t seem to find that. Anybody got anything?

Not charged yet as far as I've seen

Chicago police arrest 2 black suspects in attack on Smollett

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said authorities had probable cause to believe the suspects committed assault and battery against Smollett. But they had not been charged as of Friday afternoon.

Not sure if this has been shared, but one of the suspects has a previous arrest involving a stabbing.
“Court records show that one was charged with attempted murder in a 2011 stabbing that occurred in the 4200 block of North Ashland. That is less than a block from the home that police raided Wednesday night, and recovered personal effects including cell phones, a source said.”

Cell phones! I wonder if they had time to redact phone numbers?

Outside the apartment of the suspects.
Yeah...not seeing a whole ton of wealth to go on trips to Nigeria.

I don't think that having 'bleach' found in the suspect's home is very damning. Who doesn't have a jug of bleach under a sink somewhere?
You are very correct, I have bleach in its bottle, and even bleach and water in a spray bottle, but I don't have an Empire script.

TMZ is reporting they were booked for "battery."

I'm curious - what happened to the witness that saw the weird, white "redneck" with rope and hunting socks? Did she know about the rope/"noose" before she contacted the police? Did she know Jussie thought they were white when she reported it? If not, and since this is not either one of the men that were arrested, what's the deal here? Was she coached to say this stuff by someone, or did she actually see this guy? Has this guy ever been identified? Does it sound like someone who lives there? What are the odds that a "redneck" with a rope/clothesline would be hanging out in that weather near Jussie's bldg? Hmmmmmm. Thoughts? Seems to pretty conveniently tick off a lot of boxes as far as who Jussie said attacked him. The redneck thing was a nice little flourish.

- - -

"A woman who lives in Jussie Smollett's apartment building told cops she saw a suspicious man -- whom she said looked like a "redneck" -- loitering just outside the entrance to the building an hour and a half before Jussie says he was attacked.

The woman -- who asked us not to use her name -- tells TMZ, she walked out of the building at 12:30 AM Tuesday to take her dogs out and saw the man near the door, pacing between the parking garage and entrance, looking agitated and smoking a cigarette. She says, "He looked out of place." He was a white man with scruff on his face wearing a blue winter beanie, a blue zip-up sweatshirt with a hood and blue jeans that were too short, exposing "thick, grey hunting socks" with camel-colored dress shoes.

She says she noticed what looked like a rope, or a clothesline, protruding from the bottom of his sweatshirt, made of white and blue material.

She says he was staring at another man about 300 feet away, who was standing near another entrance to the building."

She says she got "creeped out" by the man, and after 5 minutes she retreated back into the building.

The woman says she went to sleep and woke up at 4 AM to go to the gym, and noticed a lot of security. She says the concierge told her Jussie was attacked, and when she told him what she saw, the concierge implored her to call a detective and gave her two phone numbers. She made contact that afternoon ..."
Maybe she was taking Ambien? It can cause hallucinations.

Will be interesting to see if the brothers turn over those records. If they're charged then I'm sure detectives wouldn't have a problem getting them regardless.

So, these 2 black men, were the ones taunting Jussie that this is MAGA country? Somehow, I doubt that. Well, I guess it's good that these haters were located, but somehow this victim did a lot of damage with his narrative, which seems to be at odds with reality.

Mr. Smollett had a small scratch on his face. These guys look like they could really give a severe beat down. It is good that Mr. Smollett was able to get away from these two men who had a rope around his neck.

Good find.
Charged with attempted murder, pleaded to aggravated battery; sentenced to two years of probation and was ordered to pay a $674 fine.
Wow. So in this case, they may receive 6 months of probation and a $100 fine.

I read somewhere on WS that the CPD had already sussed out Jussie's phone records, focusing on the ones that were deleted from the file that he gave them (since they obviously can get access to all of his calls). Whether that was true or not, it certainly seems that they would have probable cause to go after JS's phone and text records now if they haven't already, seeing how chummy he is with these guys. At that point, if the records show texts or calls right before the "attack", good luck to either party trying to explain that.

If there was damage was it intentional?
Isn't it possible that JS was thrown off by the MAGA and N remarks and did think it was a white person?
It is rare but Maga does have some support from black people.
If JS is innocent, it must be extra hurtful for him now that these people are known to him.
Subject to change but last article I read (CNN) LE are still considering JS a victim. IMO

Hope they are pulling airline records to see who paid for the round trip tickets to Nigeria.

Charging these guys with battery for now may be just be temporary until prosecutors can better frame the case, but I'm wondering; can prosecutors charge them with a hate crime (and thus stiffer sentence), thus forcing Jussie's hand (either confess or throw these guys under the bus), or would he have to press charges?

I'd really like to know:

1. What beef these two brothers had with Jussie?
2. How they knew he would be out in the middle of the night in below zero wind chills?
3. Why the noose if they didn't strangle him with it? They clearly are strong enough to strangle a man (holding a salad and talking on the phone) with a noose.....especially two of them with the build they have.
4. Why were they scared off by Jussie? Remember, Jussie told Robin Roberts, "I didn't run. They did." Did Jussie have a gun?

Pretty scary that one according to an earlier post was involved in a stabbing.
Yes he was lucky.IMO
