I don't think JS and two Nigerians concocted this plan all by themselves. I do not think the motive was publicity for JS. This was a political hoax orchestrated by an influential "political" group. It backfired and what we are seeing here now is damage control. JMO
Oceanblueeyes, I agree he wasn't really overcharged. Though I can see why some might think so. I believe they could have proven all of those charges. The presented everything to the grand jury and that is what they returned. That is not uncommon. The DA gets everything charged and then that gives him/her leverage on a deal. Part of why there were so many charges is that JS kept doubling down on his lie. As the case developed, it seems clear to me that the CPD was slowly hinting that it was a hoax, trying to give him opportunity to come clean. But he kept telling the lies, not just to the media, but to police, all of which were new crimes. And that is part of why the police are so upset. And even now, he still claims he is the victim and his attorney throws shade on the police, who gave him every opportunity to end this charade. So, he earned all those charges. I agree that the initial allegations (MAGA, etc) had the potential to lead to more violence. Very dangerous and irresponsible. If he had gone to trial and been convicted would he have gotten jail? Probably not much if at all. And I would have been ok with that. The important thing was to show this was false and have him admit that. To prevent future false claims.
Who is Tina Tchen, the attorney linked to Jussie Smollett messages?
It’s in MSM and can be discussed.
@WashNews
Chicago Police spox @AJGuglielmi tells @ABC police records released this AM are the final Smollett records they can release. They released in response to FOIA requests, then received a court order mandating all records connected w/Smollett case be kept confidential @JoshMargolin
According to CPD, their dept. and the City of Chicago viewed the original sealing order issued during yesterday’s hearing as not applying to police and city records. The revised order is broader and covers police and city records, @JoshMargolin reports for @ABC.

We don’t know. You may be over simplifying this. He was an unknown and why would a DA try to help him out?Ummm
I disagree with this.
I would like to see the proof of it
I think JS is stupid and arrogant enough to have come up with this ridiculous plot all on his own.
Josh Margolin @JoshMargolin
Keeps getting more bizarre: @AJGuglielmi says the gag order keeps secret an investigative file that’s about 8 inches thick and bars @Chicago_Police from discussing the investigation.

I can hardly wait for it to come leaking out, like the air from an old basketball......mooIt would be a shame if someone were to leak that 8 inch thick file....
All that work, all that investigating, all that money spent, just to see the case dismissed, and have the suspect rub it in your face.
That can’t sit well.

This is posturing. There ain’t no way in hell he would expose himself to more scrutiny, in a case that he is guaranteed to lose.Jessie’s lawyer says she “won’t rule out suing the city of Chicago”.

Sorry. I tried to link and couldn’t bring it over.
We could start a go fund me donation page to help them after they are fired.Every person in that office should leak a couple of different pages so they'd have to fire the entire department for leaking which would not happen.
