I kind of hope he wins as well, but probably not for the same reasons Anthony Anderson does.

I truly honestly believe that one day, maybe years from now, he will believe his own narrative.I don’t think he does care, although he knows what he’s doing.
He went on tv and was confident enough to lie to the country. He even cried.
Even now, he’s keeping up the charade. I believe he always will.
He appears to be incredibly self centered, to the point of narcissism.
He cares, but only about himself.
Yes. The state charges against JS are dismissed and cannot be refiled probably. That ship has sailed. The letter from the State Prosecutor's Bar Association does a good job of setting forth how this was an irregular deal, especially getting an immediate court hearing without notice to anyone and sealing the record. Make no mistake, there is a judge that is neck deep in this as well.I’m no expert, but it seems to me that when there’s been a rogue prosecutor or police officer on other cases, the charges are usually dismissed or the convictions are even reversed. So I can’t imagine that misconduct on the part of the State’s Attorneys’ Office would come back to haunt JS.
There are many things the City of Chicago along with the County Sheriff's Dept. can do to Jussie via the Production company of Empire, should the decide to keep Smollet. They can pull all tax abatements given the Production company, which would be very costly. They can pull all of the complimentary Sheriff's Deputies and or Police Department security officers for all external shooting scenes and make them pay RETAIL or hire private security. There is more than one reason Production companies are leaving LA to other cities like Chicago. But the main one is MONEY.

Her comments and "explanation" afterwards are almost as bad as the shady deal. Her arrogance is staggering and as pointed out in the letter from the Prosecutor's Bar, she is flat out lying and misleading the public.Good article. Thanks for linking.
Kim Foxx will and should lose her job over the Jussie Smollett case
Her tone-deaf statements included equating Smollett to the raft of no-name, low-level, nonviolent offenders who have received the “go and sin no more” treatment, and patronizing those who are outraged by the outcome as “people who don’t understand the intricacies of the justice system.”
Here’s what we understand: High-profile criminal cases are the lens through which the public sees and evaluates the administration of justice as a whole.
Is the alleged crime investigated thoroughly and honestly? Is the process of obtaining an outcome transparent and fair? Does the result give us confidence that all the low-profile cases most of us never hear of are being handled with integrity?
Can you just imagine what Mr. Smollett might say to " advance his activist causes" on that NAACP platform ? That could prove to be very interesting and entertaining....mooI kind of hope he wins as well, but probably not for the same reasons Anthony Anderson does.

As some above have said, maybe everyone should move on. The JS issue isn't that big of a deal. In and of itself, that may or may not be true. But as is often the case, its the cover up that is the bigger deal. The corruption that allowed this "deal" to happen cannot be ignored or swept under the rug. This isn't about race, its about privilege. Abuse of privilege and corruption always ultimately hurts the poor and disadvantaged most.

It doesn't prevent real hate crimes, just as the being angry at the boy crying wolf doesn't prevent wolf attacks. However, as MassGuy has pointed out over and over again, the actions of JS definitely affect the perception and credibility of REAL hate crimes, and that is where part of the outrage comes from.Honest question. How does focusing an intense amount of outrage and anger on a rare hoax, not for a day, but for days on end or weeks, help the situation? What does it do to prevent real hate crimes?
Much as I hope JS gets his comeuppance, I wouldn't like to see some arbitrary actions against the Empire production based on his conduct. That smacks of social engineering that some countries and organizations are famous for, and IMO, a very slippery slope. There are many things the City of Chicago along with the County Sheriff's Dept. can do to Jussie via the Production company of Empire, should the decide to keep Smollet. The more his enablers enable him, the bolder and more outlandish he has become. Can you just imagine what Mr. Smollett might say to " advance his activist causes" on that NAACP platform ? That could prove to be very interesting and entertaining....moo
Apparently he has to repay Chicago Police $130,000 for their expenses, on top of the $10,000 for having his charges dropped (bond forfeit) and the $3500 paid to the two brothers
Not to mention his tarnished image, future opportunities gone etc.
I bet he really regrets his decision

Yes we should be able to, IMO. However, the forum would blow up all because the Chicago mayor decided he had to cast blame on someone besides JS. Better to let it go. Very sad.We can post the link if it’s a valid source, right? That’s a separate issue from discussing the president here on the forum. At least I would hope so?
How else would we be able to verify an alleged statement made by the Chicago Mayor and link our sources here on WS?
But I’ve also been gone from the forum for awhile, so maybe I missed something? I’m catching up, like some other folks are, too. Can someone point me to the answer? Thanks in advance.
He did mention in a recent interview after charges were dropped that this has been one of the worst times of his life. but i could be wrong he might actually enjoy all this attentionIt isn’t apparent to me that he regrets anything at all about this.
And I think he is getting support from people who have an agenda like his to promote
