Huh. I thought that he wanted LEO to see the noose around his neck. Funniest sentence ever:

"Uh, do you want to take that rope around your neck off?" Smollett replies, "okay, I just wanted you guys to see it.".

I am sad that the special project on Lynching, with Smollett in the lead role was never shown to anyone.

I did notice that. I was temporarily rolling, imagining the look upon his blurred-out face when the policeman gave it a jaunty flip, reaching right out to touch it. Even through the blur, you could veritably palpably feel his disappointment as he removed it from about his neck, thinking "but... what about fingerprints??!?!"

Who is Dan Webb? Meet the special prosecutor appointed to the Jussie Smollett case.

Aug 23, 2019

The Jussie Smollett case is former U.S. Attorney Dan Webb’s fifth stint as a special prosecutor in his nearly five-decade legal career — and undoubtedly the first involving a low-level felony such as disorderly conduct.

Webb, 73, now the co-chairman of the powerful Winston & Strawn law firm, has investigated the conduct of numerous targets over the years, from corrupt local officials to a former president.

Jussie Smollett 'indicted' by special prosecutor in Chicago | Daily Mail Online

Feb 11, 2020

Jussie Smollett has been indicted by a special prosecutor in Chicago, nearly a year after the initial charges against him over an alleged hoax attack were dropped.

A Cook County grand jury hit the Empire actor with six counts of disorderly conduct on Tuesday for allegedly staging racist and homophobic hate crime and lying to police about it.

Special prosecutor Dan Webb announced the charges against Smollett and said that the further prosecution of the actor is in the 'interest of justice'.

Great news, but 6 counts of disorderly conduct doesnt sound that severe.

I think even if the charge isn't that serious, no one will able to claim that he was never convicted of a crime and hopefully it will stop similar hoaxes. Even if he doesn't do serious time for this, this plus the civil case will ruin his chances of working for a long time (I would love to say never but Hollywood loves a comeback even of toxic people)

At least he either needs to fight it, because we all know that "he fights back". Or he needs to admit his criminal behavior.

Either way, it is a win. I really want him to fight this. He has proclaimed his innocence. He should be happy that he can finally clear his name. o_O

They are felonies. Why charges against Jussie Smollett are considered a felony

You might want to follow @CWBChicago on Twitter for some hilarious comments AND breaking news and pretty spot-on analysis of crime and prosecution in the city.

AND if it turns out HE mailed the white powder to the set of Empire- it's the feds!

The "White Powder" letter has always been on the table, I think that the Osundario brothers sent it, under direction of Smollett. It has never been investigated completely, which I have found infuriating. This is a completely separate crime from the State of Illinois state charges. And in your link above it states that the letter is "now being investigated". Why "now"?

He is so 'innocent' that he tries to sue the city of Chicago, but then Chicago turns around and is trying to sue him. I want to see how this is going to play out...

I am honestly baffled he could be this stupid.

He was a nobody and got a lucky break on empire after years of being a failed actor. He got to also sing and release music which had had always wanted to do.

But he was so arrogant and delusional that he thought he could pull this off and didn’t think of the repercussions if caught.

He didn’t earn that much off Empire that this won’t financially ruin him. He wasn’t a good actor and got lucky so it’s not like people are going to be Knocking down his door to offer him jobs. He has totally ruined his life and a few token people will stand by him because he is Black and Gay but the majority of people know he is lying and are happy he has been charged again.

MOO

Kim Foxx who claimed to welcome the investigation into her office's handling of the case put out this statement alleging that the timing of all this is because the primaries are coming up

Editorial: New charges against Jussie Smollett mean double trouble for Kim Foxx

"Foxx’s statement in response to the new indictment questioned its timing, implying that Webb is playing a dirty political trick on her: “The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office charged Jussie Smollett with multiple counts, and today the Special Prosecutor did the same. What’s questionable here is the James Comey-like timing of that charging decision, just 35 days before an election, which can only be interpreted as the further politicization of the justice system, something voters in the era of Donald Trump should consider offensive,” Foxx’s office said."

@meanmaryjean The comments at @CWBChicago are hilarious. Here are a few gems in response to this tweet from Kim Foxx boasting about the number of wrongful convictions overturned. She is going for the criminal re-election vote. “Was one of them French national Monsieur Juzee Smooolay?” Hahahaha! (So she is boasting about how many people they wrongly convicted?)

I can’t find a single tweet supporting her. They are calling it Crook County. Hee.

I HATE to say this---but I think this will be a dead end. I am pretty sure that Jussie set up the brothers, to be the ones that created that silly letter and sent it. I think it was said that the magazines the 'letters' were cut from were found in the bros apartment....Does any one else remember that?

I bet this was another dirty errand that Jussie paid them to do. So it will potentially put them in jail, but not Jussie unless they have solid proof it was his idea. JMO

I do remember that, yes. I hope they arrest the bros and they testify against Juzee for a reduced sentence. They had no motive to send those MAGA anthrax letters to their friend, the person who was paying them. It’s laughably transparent.

What I don't like about this, is that if anyone else sends terrorism ie, white powder letters, this sets a precedent, why wasn't this investigated, and why wasn't anyone charged? It smacks of privilege.

Former 'Empire' actor Jussie Smollett indicted again by grand jury in Chicago

The actor was accused of falsely reporting he was the victim of a hate crime.

The special prosecutor Dan Webb, appointed by Cook County
Circuit Court Judge Michael Toomin, determined that "reasonable grounds exist" to further prosecute Smollett "in the interest of justice."

1.) Smollett "planned and participated in a staged hate-crime attack."

2.)Smollett made "numerous false statements to Chicago Police on multiple occasions."

3.) Webb weighed the "extensive nature of Mr. Smollett's false police reports."

4.) Web weighed the "resources expended by the Chicago Police Department. "

5.) The Cook County State's Attorney was unable to provide to Webb evidence of similar cases that showed Smollett received no special treatment.

Osundairo Brothers 'Praying for Jussie' to 'Finally Tell the Truth'

Hmmm, I wonder if they were given a deal to tell the truth?

Or, alternatively, Juicy Smollet needs to demand that these brothers receive charges for beating him up.

I remember that Smollett was actually ready to sign off on the identification and send the brothers to jail, his attorney intervened.
