I'm good with this sentence. It is more jail time than i expected actually. Plus, its just jail, not prison. Jussie doesn't get to come out of this and claim he has some "street cred" because he was in prison. Nope, just county jail. LOL.

Just reading this quote someone wrote him in support "Johnson wrote. "Mr. Smollett does not pose, nor has he ever posed, a threat to anyone.", its nonsense, I have no doubt in my mind that he would have let innocent people go down for this who were in the wrong place at the wrong time, you just have to look at how he smeared the Osundario brothers who he knew to know what he would have done to random people who got caught up in it.

Thank God hes too dumb to even plan an attack on himself correctly. If he staged this somewhere with less cameras, outside a major urban area, he could have gotten away with it

Wonder if anything will ever come of the investigation into the letter?

According to ABC 7 Chicago, the actor Samuel L. Jackson and Rev. Jesse Jackson were among those who wrote to the judge asking for leniency in his sentence. “I humbly implore you to please find an alternative to incarceration,” Samuel L. Jackson wrote.

The judge called the defendant selfish, arrogant and narcissistic during the sentencing. Following the ruling, Smollett declared, “I am not suicidal, I am innocent.”

The defense atty, Ms Gannion, speaking about their defense witness, Mr Moore, a security guard at the Sheraton, says he saw a ‘White man wearing a ski mask.’ How does he know he was white? He was running past him, wearing winter clothes and a ski mask, at night.


Then this attorney goes on to accuse the Pro Bono Prosecutor of pressuring this witness into lying by changing his testimony, thus calling for a retrial—but guess what——this witness was MISTAKEN because that man he saw was not white. He was one of the brothers, involved in this case.


So that tells me what I need to know about this defense attorney. She was very misleading and dishonest, the way she told that part of her argument, about JS deserving a retrial. She told that story, in a way that MADE IT SEEM like there were 2 white men running around the area that night—and that would support JS’s version of events. She actually had me fooled until ....


..... the black prosecutor, Mr Mendenhall stood up, and set the story straight. There were not 2 white men—those were the O brothers. They are black men. So the defense attorneys accusations against the prosecutor, claiming that he 'pressured that witness to change his story' was dishonest hogwash.

I doubt it. Which is shameful. Using the United States mail system for a "White Powder" hoax letter is wrong.

The charges in the recent case were very much focused on the aspect of the "hate crime hoax" and lying to Chicago LEO. I noticed how carefully the prosecution stayed away from mentioning the "White Powder" letter.

Smollett doesn't realize that he was given a gift here. No one really likes the sentence. The defense wanted Smollett to serve no jail time, no doubt Chicago PD and many others wanted Smollett incarcerated to the maximum.

I read her piece. She even admitted in so many words that with her blessing and decision the initial JS case was quickly and efficiently swept under the rug! POOF!!

There was absolutely not ONE WORD about the potential damage done to true victims of hate crimes. Instead...she went political....with all the correct buzz words and narrative she could fit into it. Shameful.
Chicago and Illinois can do better.
