IL - Actor Jussie Smollett, hate crime hoax, Jan 2019 *Guilty* #7

This makes me literally ill.

Me too!!!
It is beyond maddening that the courts are enabling this sociopath and his delusional, self-absorbed family/entourage.

Chappelle did his part to speak truth to this clown and his outrageous story when it first broke a few years ago. I would love him to speak up again and I would love to see other high profile/famous people do the same this time. Then I would love to see a reporter ask a family member or even ask Jussie what he thinks of the Chappelle bit from a few years ago and any new ones calling out his bs.

I think the key word here is enabling--- this guy didnt get to this point in his life
without the
Literally, no one. And that's the reason for all the theater and all the lies. It's purely for attention.
Same exact reason for his original crime in the first place. Attention.
What's even more sickening is, it appears to be working quite well.

Apparently he has been surrounded by a group of enablers his entire life: he has grown up with a sense of entitlement and I imagine has gotten away with a lot of crap his entire life for which excuses were made. I would guess for example if he auditioned for a part and didn't get it, he was told by his enablers that those people didn't realize what a great talent he is, etc etc etc. He has not had to pay a price for bad behavior and now he is getting away with criminal behavior. He is truly a disgusting individual.

The most recent events are indeed regrettable.
What lesson has Mr. Smollet learned ?
As far as his personal safety, he could have been placed in a separate location from the others.
Here's something for J.S. to ponder : not all who are incarcerated are afforded the same privileges.
My opinion.

He’s using the Jussie System again.

Hmmm I wonder how long it will take for his case to be reviewed by an appeals court? 6 days? I have a feeling it will be fast tracked.

I suspect exactly the opposite. I suspect it will not in hopes that Mr. Smollett will fade out of the public eye long enough for this to all just go away. But I doubt Jussie CAN lay low and keep his lying lips closed so it will have to be addressed at some point. The machinations of team JS bore me. Seeing him released when other regular folks (not rich famous or POC) do not receive that sort of special treatment and languish behind bars as their appeals grind forward was extremely disappointing.

I shouldn't have been surprised but was at this latest turn. At this point, I'm over this whole story. SMDH

It could take a couple of years. The whole system is backed up by COVID and appeals often come after the ever present daily crimes.

I caught only a glimpse of a clip of Jussie Smollett's release. Too far away for me to identify members of the 'bodyguard' scrum surrounding him.

Did the crew include -
- Osundairo brothers (ex?) bosom buddies?
- beefcakey aspiring actors from central casting?
- actual muscle from a security company?

Did any red MAGA-hatted dudes approach to menace or threaten him?

Just wondering./s;):D:rolleyes:

Imagine the look on the Subway worker’s face when Jussie shows up for his I’ve been released from jail tuna sandwich? Something is indeed fishy but it’s not the sandwich.

Osundairo Brothers. Hate crime?
... if Jussie Smollett will call for the Osundairo Brothers to be charged with a hate crime against him. Because if he didn’t create the fake hoax, then they are guilty of a hate crime against him, right?...
@mickey2942 sbm for focus. Good question.
One specific element of a hate crime* is that the defendant targeted the victim because of the victim's membership of a
certain demographic, including race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

Let's say now, post-JS-trial, the IL. dist atty is publicly pressured (by JS & others) to pursue hate crime charges against the O's. Seems imo, DA could make a legit, public stmt to the effect--- we have no credible information that O. brothers targeted JS, based on his race, religion, sexual orientation, etc., and in fact testimony & other evidence at trial proved JS solicited the O's to buy rope, & assault him, etc.

Imo whatever injuries (if any) the O's may have caused JS, they did not commit a hate crime against him. Racial, religious, gender, sexual orientation etc prejudice did not motivate them to target him.

Imo regardless of the outcome on his appeal and eventual bids for post-conviction relief, JS' (hypothetical future) call for O. brothers to be charged w a hate crime would fall flat.

Would the prospect of falling flat deter JS from trying? IDK. my2ct.

The real issue for me with the attack, aside from it being at 1 am in Chicago during a Polar Vortex, was the "beat down". Of course, we know Jussie "fought the F back" as he stated several times, with tears in his eyes.

I have seen people who were in bar fights that were knocked out, missing teeth, one guy lost an ear, detached retinas, concussions, broken noses, broken bones...JS got a scratch, and barely puffy lip, that he made sure he posted on Twitter when he was in the ER.

Eye roll. Who goes to the ER for that? Stick a band aid on it, take a Tylenol.

@mickey2942 bbm sbm

Maybe someone researching for an upcoming acting role in which he is to portray a bar fight victim, brutally beaten within an inch of his life by heartless horde of bloodthirsty savages? /s ;)

In 2019, Jussie's attorney said there was no plea and no agreement. Oops.

RSBM but the fair question to ask here, @mickey2942 did they manage to hold onto their sandwiches? That takes a special kind of fighting back. What a guy!

On another note , back in the day, Sharpton tweeted
Reverend Al Sharpton
The reported hate attack on my friend and brother, actor Jussie Smollett is despicable and outrageous. The guilty must face the maximum.

I don't disagree with Al.

This appeal could take years. If it's denied at the local level, Jussie can go to the state level. Then, if it's still denied, he can go to the US Supreme Court.

No kidding. I have been in a few fights in my life. You throw some ice cubes in a zip lock bag and put it on your lip, or cheek for a little while. You'll be fine.

S
cott Reisch says that Jussie Smollett’s release happens in about 1% of cases. This is about 9:15 into the video. Usually Scott Reisch is very pro defense but he comments here that celebrity status may have played a part in Jussie being released.

Some locals should start an active protest against his release. This is unreal. His fan club desperately wants JS to maintain his celebrity status.

Families of people incarcerated awaiting appeal could gather outside that door....
