Meaning of life?
FOX LAKE, Ill. (AP) - A local government official familiar with the investigation into the shooting death of a northern Illinois police officer says the lieutenant was hit twice: once in his protective vest and once at an angle that allowed the bullet to enter his chest.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity, citing the ongoing investigation. He says the fatal shot was fired from above the vest in a downward direction.
And so on, and so on......

"The official spoke on condition of anonymity, citing the ongoing investigation. He says the fatal shot was fired from above the vest in a downward direction." The way I'm picturing this in my mind, it just can't be how it happened. Could someone please explain where the person that shot the Lt., would be standing for this to happen, so I can get a better idea? I'm finding it harder and harder to believe anything about the three suspects, I don't want to say they don't exist, but at the same time I don't think they exist. I just find it hard to believe that with three people someone didn't mess up by now IMO

Hello there Cady!I can't help but think that a proper and thorough investigation will somehow bring some scandal to light....not necessarily one that the deceased was involved in, but one that he may have known a lot about? There is some dark secret that is being kept under wraps. JMO JMO
I have also been mapping the details in this case. I was able to find the officer's (public info) home address and I considered the route that he most likely took that day. Long story short, his claimed reason for stopping and for being at that location. For one thing, there is no entrance to the old concrete plant from the highway, so if the lieutenant spotted someone while "on his way to work" he would have had to double back and then drive through the industrial complex. Also, there is a public "bike path" along that highway and how suspicious would three guys be along that path? Thirdly, the view of anyone on foot from the highway while driving in either direction would not be an easy observation to make. (and again, the only road in is through the industrial complex.) Finally, the location where the officers car (and body) was found in clearly more than a couple minutes away from the highway when you account for the time to observe the three individuals, make a radio call, find the way in and drive through the industrial complex. . .
Sadly, I am leaning more and more towards the belief that this was a suicide made to look like an "officer killed in action" event.
P.S. @Steelman, you have a lot of skills with Google Maps. I sure could use your help with the Map and Group linked to in my signature.
How would LT. G be in deep dark undercover? Isn't he a pretty recognizable presence? I am not understanding the definition of 'deep dark' I suppose. Is that referring to cyberspace?

I have to respectfully disagree. Rudd spoke out of turn and truly could have wrecked the case. He has already given statements to indicate possible reasonable doubt in the mind of future jurors. He has no place discussing the case at this time. I don't see anything botched at this point, just lots of speculation on everyone's part. Just think if the police had released those photos when everyone was screaming for them to let the public help. We'd have 3 innocent lives ruined like the Boston case and the Richard Jewel case before that. I say let the police do their jobs. I mean really...everyone really expects the case to be wrapped up in 10 days??? I don't get it. We've gone from Blue Lives Matter to FTP in a matter of a few days already? Give them some space and time. JMO

Exactly.
Those who are in "deep dark undercover" or even undercover, are not in uniform. They are in plain clothes and do not drive a marked car. The drive an unmarked car.p, unless his was unmarked and he was out of uniform.
It would be easy to spot people in the open area of the cement yard from Rollins Rd. If he didn't radio it in until approaching from Honing Rd. then the time line makes sense.
The other possibility that he originally went down Honing Rd. also is reasonable-somewhere earlier in this thread it's stated that the Police patrolled the old cement yard at least once a day and the area was Lt. Gliniewicz's responsibility.
