Woe! I did not say that! Maybe go back and read the posts. All I was saying was that if LE has witnesses, they should have told Rudd that three weeks ago.....I said nothing about Rudd jeopardizing witnesses. JMO

No, sorry I didn't mean to imply you had said that. Only the part aboutntelling Rudd.

LE hasn't said anything to the press.
Don't twist my point please. LE doesn't have to reveal witnesses and I don't believe they have to show all their cards prior to an arrest being made (or even before a trial which is frustrating indeed).

Therefore, what false statements?
We've all heard of the witness protection system, for instance.

What would be false is claiming they are investigating this as a suicide when they are not.

Those statements have been said. I didn't say they said anything about a witness nor that they had to. But whenever LE makes official statements they are held to a legal standard. That is why they so often just don't say anything.

At this point they have already started they are investigating it as both a homicide and suicide so if they knew prior to that statement it wasn't a suicide and were making that statement to shield someone then they could be in legal trouble.

That's my point - LE and Rudd may know there's a witness but they're not telling the public so they don't endanger the witness.

There's an assumption being made that LE is going to give details and tell the public how the case is progressing. They can't until they can - there are reasons they can't reveal case details.
Sometimes they don't know how to put them together yet themselves.
That is why cold cases get solved years later by a detective who re-examines all the evidence and actually notices a detail that was missed earlier and cracks the case.

Oh I see. LE doesn't want to let the coroner sign off until they understand the evidence and some believe that to be a false statement?
You'd rather have LE rush to judgment? Why?

OK. But Rudd claims that there was no communication with him from LE for 3 weeks. They finally met on Sunday...so, hopefully, they briefed him on what they DO know. JMO.....errr Monday

According to my daughters friend it is a well known heroin hotspot in the area although I can't see a drug deal leading someone to kill a cop unless there were excessive amounts.
Someone needs to request the past two years arrests records of druggies from this spot because if this was such a hot spot then there would have been arrests and eventually the druggies would have moved on.

As it stands they originally claimed this was a regularly patrolled area.

I am not saying it couldn't be drugs but you can figure out just how bad it was with a simple Records request. Also wouldn't Joe know if such crimes were regular there and not confront an out of area heroin dealer?

You are misunderstanding. This has nothing to do with rushing anything.
It has to do with LE lying to the public about an investigation.

Rudd came out and said he can't rule out suicide. The TF said he talks too much.
Then they came out and claimed they were investigating it as both suicide and homicide.

If they truly are not investigating it as one or another then they lied and that possibly could be seen as a false statement.

It it's better if they just keep quiet in these instances so as not to be seen as making false statements.

Should we construe that as your belief? That is how distorting context of peoples statements starts rumors. JMO

He probably got the same "evidence" we did from the press conf and is just waiting for CODIS and this special camera evidence out of courtesy just in case something points to another person.

He certainly isn't required to wait for the TF to decide they have turned over every rock.

CG said that the 3 were running AWAY from him...but in order to wrest the gun from him, at least 1 had to turn and run toward him. Had to physically contact him to get the gun. JMO..............also, plenty of time for CG to shoot whoever was approaching him. JMO

It's been a while, so many posts at this point. We've been there on this before.A Cop pursuing 3 perps has a much better chance out in the open like a parking lot. Entering a wooded area all bets are off even if the cop's armed and the perps aren't .

Lt.Gliniewicz may have managed to confront 1 perp, but in the trees without having a line of sight on the other two...effectively surrounded:Absolutely not a good position to be in.

How would he know they were out of the area drug dealers?

This isn't a big town. I am sure all the LEO knew all the druggies. Anyone they didn't recognize would be out of town.

Also everyone keeps saying this was some huge heroin corridor from Wisconsin to Chicago. Police would know this.

So again why would Joe go to an area well known for drugs and heroin dealers between Chicago and Wisconsin and not request and WAIT FOR back up before chasing some suspisious possibly really bad out of town heroin dealers?

You can know within days how bad this area is.
Send a FOI request to the FLPD requesting the dates and arrests pertaining to this particular area from date.to date. They have to comply under federal and state law.

Agree. And absolutely a rookie move, to pursue 3 alone in swampland, knowing back up is on the way. Just my opinion

No, it was an attempt to lessen the tension with a joke.
That's why I stated I'm getting "punchy", like slaphappy.
(Don't want anybody to think I want to punch them.)

adding - I recalled the pathologist was on vacation which delayed the coroner/task force meeting. I attempted to make an inside joke that flopped, I guess.

Maybe Rudd had to be evacuated out of the meeting and they will tell us this in three weeks?
