I wonder has he even been issued a death certificate yet or is that waiting for the coroners report?
Guessing...I think so. He can't have been buried without one. Would probably say gunshot wound. JMO

Do you honestly believe cops don't threaten people with arrest or charges if they don't cooperate?Have you heard of the constitution? "Threaten" them? With what probable cause could they be led to these druggies to threaten them, haul them in and offer them immunity? They certainly could attempt to interview these local known habitual repeat offenders and attempt to investigate their whereabouts if there is reasonable suspicion but forcibly threatening them isn't how druggies typically spill information..... This is where having private sector investigators have more leeway. Just saying...
How did he manage to see these three in that terrain to begin with?
If you recall he (Lt Joe) said he was near the equipment. And then radioed that the subjects were heading toward the swamp. For all we know they could have been in one of the work yards potentially trespassing and migrated.
Here is some street view photos. They seem to be from 2012 but will allow a better visual.

Cops can even legally lie during interrogation.
Yes, I am very familiar with the constitution and I am also very familiar that many in LE aren't or tend to turn a blind eye.
You think they had a warrant for all those swabs?
Or maybe you think there was no intimidation or pressure against some to get those?
How about the warrants for house to house searches?
Yeah, don't put much stock in cops following the constitution to the letter when they think one of their "brothers" has been slain.
You can do a simple request for anything. I can request all drug related arrests from this date to this date for the entire town and then figure it out myself. OR I can specify key word like honing rd. Cement plant etc.... anything. You can be very general of very specific. Depends on what you want and how you spell you out.
That is exactly what I said. That wasn't what you stated. You said to haul people in and threaten them. I am well aware of interrogation tactics. The only amount of intimidation I could gather LE using to obtain those swabs was to let the party know that they would happily come back with a warrant to obtain those swabs which in itself could be a "bluff" in their methodology as having a warrant issued to obtain that sample, probable cause would need to be established for a judge to issue that warrant. The ones that refused might be enough in this situation or even enough to cast suspicion to warrant further investigation but I couldn't be sure because there are plenty of suspects in cases that won't voluntarily provide samples and there is not enough PC to forcibly take one even in instances with strong circumstantial evidence. Which is why you see cases being solved in other manners that DNA is collected in public locations. Likely, most people voluntarily gave consent when they provided those samples. And as far as searching homes, in my experience homeowners and land owners sign a search waiver giving permission to search their property but in this situation I have no clue how they conducted their operation because I was not there.
They you should submit the FOIA and report back to us. I would love to learn of your findings.
I would really like to know why the 80 people they selected were on their radar to begin with. The town was shaking in its boots thinking there were 3 armed criminals out there and then they were told to carry on as if there was no problem.....Strange tactic. JMO
I couldn't care less if some locals think this is a heroin hot spot nor do I believe these three existed to be dealing drugs so I have no need.
I was just starting there was a lot of claiming of this and that which can be easily known with a FOI request.
That is exactly what I said.
You assumed threatened meant something. What I still don't know.....
Yes, I advise no one to ever give samples or allow LE into their house etc without a warrant.
A "bluff" in that scenario is a threat.
Okay, well I made the suggestion for people to use google yesterday evening, anyone can speculate or have an opinion. There are plenty of articles that highlight various drug busts in Fox Lake. Besides What do the locals know? Seriously? :silenced: You are certainly entitled to your opinion as are other posters.
Here is one example: (NOTE: Meeting in a PARKING LOT on Route 12)
http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20120206/news/702069799/
"of the first block of Nippersink Boulevard, scheduled a meeting for 8:45 p.m. the same day in a restaurant parking lot on Route 12.
The informant was in the parking lot, along with undercover sheriff's deputies, when Flory arrived on a bicycle, Hoffert said.
Flory had a plastic bag inside his mouth containing five smaller bags with a total weight of one-half gram of heroin, Hoffert said.
Flory was about to sell the bag to the informant for $100, Hoffert said, when he spotted the undercover police who were in the lot and spit the bag on the ground."
You carry a gun and "bluff" someone by stating you will call a judge and get an order to physically take a dna sample from someone but they shouldn't think of that as in any way threatening or intimidating?I respectfully disagree but again perspectives are each of our own.
Bluff:
An attempt to deceive someone into believing that one can or will do something.
Threaten:
State one's intention to take hostile action against someone in retribution for something done or not done.
Like I said I really don't care. I also think anything some locals know the PD knows.
Especially if you are googling the info it can't be a secret now can it?
Well, if this was about a drug deal, I have not heard or seen anything from investigators that hints at that. Is the DEA involved in the investigation??? Seems like there would be some clue, that that is the motive LE is pursuing. JMO
Wasn't COD gunshot? Or is there a new rumor?Well it shouldn't matter I guess for you as have already stated you don't care as it doesn't factor into your weighted theory. That's your prerogative and right to your opinion to discount locals and MSM stories on the heroin and drug busts in the area. You are correct though, the local PD would know this just as LE (The Lake County Sheriff office/ County Task force is the LEAD in this investigation) is the one in possession of the real/absolute facts. Let's hope everyone is sharing information! All we can do is speculate and theorize because there is very little released that is absolute and we certainly know there has not been a COD determined yet.
Not making many arrests may be exactly why FL's a heroin hot spot ...............
Regularly patrolled may mean they might have checked it once or twice a day. An effective deterrent? I doubt it.
