Oh, and another thing from that December 11 article:
Surveillance video of the incident exists, and the family waited until they saw it to file the lawsuit. They aren’t showing the video to the public, saying they don’t want the last seconds of their daughter’s life to become scrutinized on the internet. They’re also trying to prevent Chloe’s older brother from seeing it.

BBM. Parents didn't want the public to see the video yet their own attorney showed it to msm reporters who in turn described in detail what they saw.

How does that prevent the video from being scrutinized on the Internet and how does that prevent Chloe's brother from seeing it when he can instead read the description as filtered through other people's eyes. It make no sense to me. Why didn't they forbid their attorney from showing the videos to reporters? Why did they do the interviews?

I posted a few days ago about comments on the La Comay Facebook site in response to the video. This is one example of the posts. Please be aware that I know that Puerto Rico is a territory of the US. I'm cutting and pasting from that site:
"I Burgos Yo Burgos A pity for the loss of this little angel, but I'm glad the case is happening in Puerto Rico. Because the Children's life is valued more than here in the USA. I have never been able to understand that they leave children "forgotten in cars." And gringos tend to be that way. They get crazier if they leave a dog in a car than a child."
I hope that Chloe gets justice in the Puerto Rico courtroom!

I know this has been covered but I can’t find it - is SA the father of Chloe’s mother? Or stepfather?

SA is married to Chloe's maternal grandmother, so he is Kim Wiegand's stepfather, Chloe's step-grandfather. SA is not a blood relative of Kim or Chloe.

BBM. I don't know how I missed this. And I don't understand what in the video led them to go ahead and file the lawsuit. I assume they saw a clearer version than we have.

I would take that article with a grain of salt. US main stream media have gotten many details wrong. Judging from his body language at the press conference, I do not believe AW had yet seen the video. When asked (at said press conference) if the parents had viewed the video, AW didn’t say a word but shook his head no almost in disgust and choked up (face turning red, eyes watering, involuntary swallowing). I’m no body language expert but I believed him. This was before the video was leaked. He may have seen it by now though.

I've always thought SA put Chloe on the railing and not the actual windowsill and the videos haven't changed it for me.

If Chloe was either sitting or standing on the railing she could not have fallen outside the ship. She would have ended up in the gap between the safety rail and the window. At worst, she would have bashed her head on the windowsill then tumbled to the floor.

Theres a nice clear explanation of that three quarters of the way through that video I posted.

Imo. The straight on video, watching on my cell, on professional setting, Chloe is clearly outside. She's not even vertical, shes practically horizontal, arms out like superman!

You do know what we" gringos" would be called if we said something like that about Spanish people right? ;)

eta: It's also really ironic since the last highly publicized 'Hot Car' death were the twins of... Juan Rodriguez.

Wouldn’t we have seen Chloe on the wooden rail (in video from the side) if SA had placed here there? I still can’t fathom why he’d put her closer than that railing.

Yes. You would think so. I'm always a bit puzzled how some people can't seem to tell she's outside. It looks so obvious to me.

I would call this a tragic accident if Chloe had been sat on the wooden rail and been held with two hands by a non-moving SA. Sadly, if he had done even that, Chloe would probably still be here.

His placing her beyond the wood railing changed everything! Then add on his back and forth body movements!

The railing is what he was leaning over, this, I feel we would have seen Chloe on that railing.

We have yet to see any video from outside the ship, i.e. surveillance cameras on exterior of ship and on the dock. There are probably surveillance cameras on buildings in the vicinity of the port, as well. I think there will be video that shows Grandpa leaning out the window before he placed Chloe in the open window frame. External video might be more damning than what we've seen from inside the vessel.

I'm sure you're right, BetteDavisEyes. I would hope such a video, which would presumably capture Chloe's entire fall and the impact, will not be released to the public, ever. I feel that it isn't my business to see that, and I wouldn't be able to bear it or unsee it in my mind. I think we all would feel the same.
However, for the purpose of evidence in the investigation, I hope such an exterior view will end any lawyer posturing, and curtail the years of dragging out the quest for appropriate justice.
As to the Wiegand family, I would say IMO seeing such a video is their right, but I hope they choose not to see it. I know if it were my child or grandchild, it would rip every cell from my body.

Can you imagine the public outcry and condemnation if it had been a crew member who had been looking after Chloe?

Ain't that the truth! After this situation, before we saw the actual video, most people were sympathetic, and few called it a criminal act of negligence.

There was all kinds of sympathy, justifications, trying to spin this for SA. But, definitely, if it had been a paid caregiver, there probably would have been a far different reaction.

That video, though, is absolutely chilling. Just show it to the jury. SA's lawyer can talk all day to spin it however he wants, but that act cannot be "unseen". I don't see a jury out for more than 30 minutes.

Has anyone else noticed from the photos that Chloe’s head seems too large, just a little out of proportion to her body? MOO

It seems rather unkind to point that out imo.

Lots of babies have wierdly shaped heads, you should have seen the noggen on me at that age!

It tends to all come together just fine as they grow into little people.
Imo. She looks like her mom.

Maybe. I'm not totally convinced but I'm willing to consider alternatives. My thinking has been because the window tilts out a bit at the top the actual opening should be less than the 18" quoted by the attorney. Even a 5" or 6" difference could explain her falling out, especially since she was facing outward.

Plus, if SA leaned over with her then as noted by other posters he could have propelled her forward when he leaned out so she'd be somewhat top heavy and moving forward with some degree of force. And Chloe extending her arms outward would have shifted her weight too.

I don't know, hopefully as @SouthAussie said the prosecution will have experts to testify about her exact position and the physics of her fall. And I'm pretty sure they'll have additional, much clearer video. MOO.

I wasn’t trying to be unkind, I was wondering if she might have had a medical condition. In some of the photos I have seen her waist looks very petite and tiny but her head looks large by comparison.

Like, perhaps water on the brain or some kind of syndrome from her premature birth? NOT BEING UNKIND, just making an observation. What was UNKIND was to drop her out the window and cut her little life short. JMOO

For example,

“Macrocephaly is usually a symptom of other conditions. Benign familial macrocephaly is an inherited condition. It happens in families predisposed to having larger heads. Sometimes there is a problem with the brain, such as hydrocephalus or excess fluid.”
