Thank GOD! After reading his history as Sheriff, I think we all should breathe a huge sigh of relieve that he can't fark up this investigation like he did so many other things while he was at the helm of MCSO! I mean, protecting a CHILD MOLESTER while he (Giusto) was having sex with that child molester's wife?? Uh uh.
I'm glad that we're finally talking about this. Weeks ago, I'd posted information about this horrible event. For heaven's sake, the abuser, Neil Goldschmidt ,who ruined that girl's life, was Governor of Oregon!
And many knew, including those in powerful positions, and covered up for him. I found that appalling--and the sheriff's part in it beyond disgusting. But when I posted the original information, I was attacked so heavily for being anti-LE that I just dropped it.
I think it's relevant. There's a history there of powerful people, leadership, being involved in sex crimes against children. A history of dirty LE leadership. And a history of the powerful covering things up for their cronies. Crimes like these do *not* happen in a vacuum.
And now there's a scandal about steroid abuse and sales involving multiple officers in jurisdictions around Portland. Including these people:
"The federal investigation already has prompted the resignation of four law enforcement officers who also have lost their police certification -- Deason, Kroeplin, Washington County narcotics dog handler Jared Gochenour and West Linn Officer Jess Riley.
Riley, who formerly worked as a Milwaukie officer, resigned from West Linn on April 9.
The federal inquiry also has led to the questioning of Portland Sgt. Charles Brown, who lives in Canby and whose late father was a retired Canby school superintendent. Portland police have been ordered not to talk about the federal investigation involving Brown. "

Good grief! A narcotics dog handler, who was out arresting other people for substance abuse and illegal substances! An officer with ties to a school system whose investigation is now federal and can't be talked about??!!
I once spent almost a year on one investigative project (while doing my routine reporting, too, whew.). One thing that I learned is that corruption within the circles of the powerful has a long, long, reach, and signals a culture of entitlement for these self-selected people. They think they have the right to get away with whatever it is.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, something is rotten, not in Denmark, but in Portland. You don't have such problems with sex trafficking, especially of children, as has been repeatedly reported, without an underlying support system. JMO, of course.
