"This tactic was used by Napoleon,

and today Hamas uses it.

This is why Israel still cannot defeat it.

Although Israel has overwhelming conventional advantages and U.S. support,
it still cannot defeat Hamas.

All thanks to the tactics it uses to paralyze the enemy's forces.
An attack in open terrain using several mechanized vehicles and mortars would be suicide for Hamas.

Recognizing significant technological differences and the disproportion of power in Israel's favor, it adjusts its actions.

For example,
in Ukraine, the extensive use of drones has provided greater visibility of the battlefield - meaning there are few places to hide significant combat power, logistical facilities and command posts.

Hamas is trying to take away this advantage in Gaza from Israel.

Its fighters are hiding in apartment buildings, labyrinths of tunnels, as well as mosques, schools and hospitals, trying to 'blend in' with the civilian population.

Equally important,
by dispersing its forces and logistical supplies, Hamas is trying to create the impression that it is much smaller and has much fewer strategic goals than it actually is.

As Israel detects broadcast signals more effectively, Hamas has changed its tactics accordingly -
sending fewer signals.

The militant group knows that phone calls and other instant messaging will quickly be detected by the enemy, as will text communications.
Therefore, it has created strict rules for the use of mobile phones, thus reducing the risk of the adversary detecting messages about planned events, such as the attacks on October 7.

Precision weapons – from man-portable Javelins to long-range ATACMS guided missiles – are everywhere now. The ability to combine drone sensors with precision-guided artillery, JDAM missiles, and anti-tank weapons is a commander's dream come true - one shot, one kill.
It no longer takes hundreds of artillery shells or bombs to attack a target when a single JDAM missile or drone can blow up an entire headquarters.

Israel has the same capabilities, but in the Gaza Strip it plays a much smaller role.

There, Israel's overwhelming advantage is diminished by Hamas's camouflage and tunnels, as well as the fact that it has only a few missile launch sites and mortar positions.

It has virtually no large military formations, mechanized vehicles or ammunition stocks that could become the target of attack.

We should also not forget that the side that chooses the time, place and method of fighting has the advantage in war.

In the past, Napoleon was a master of this,
today Hamas uses it -
it is not without reason that it initiates military operations in dense, crowded urban areas.

This is by far the most difficult form of fighting, and it helps eliminate Israel's enormous numerical, equipment and technological advantage.

There is much to be said for Hamas's communications strategy, ardent population and radical ideology.

However,
its ability to minimize the impact of the latest technologies that proved crucial in the war in Ukraine cannot be overlooked.

Over the past year, the world has watched as the Russian Goliath tries to destroy Ukraine, which, thanks to new technologies, is fighting on an equal footing with the aggressor.

However, this will not be the case in Gaza.
Hamas certainly won't win, but that doesn't mean it will definitely lose."

The opinions of the author of this article don't relate well to the conflict in Gaza IMO. It would be nice if I could read the entire piece but the link is not in English. Also there are embedded links that go to non-English pages.

EU OFFICIAL: AID MONEY NOT BEING DIVERTED TO HAMAS

STRASBOURG, France — A senior European Union official said the bloc will continue to provide financial aid to the Palestinians after an investigation found that no money has been diverted to Hamas.

“The review found no indications of EU money having directly or indirectly benefited the terrorist organization Hamas,” EU Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis told reporters.

“Payment to Palestinian beneficiaries and UNRWA will continue without payment delays. Finally, for those projects in Gaza that are not feasible due to the war, the money will be reallocated to Gaza either as humanitarian or development aid.”

EU approves continued Palestinian development aid

The European Commission has said it will continue to provide financial aid to the Palestinians after an investigation found no evidence that the money was going to Hamas.

On 9 October, after the Hamas terror attack on Israel, the EU’s executive branch announced a review of the use of hundreds of millions of euros in development assistance meant to help the Palestinians fight poverty.

The European Commission executive vice-president, Valdis Dombrovskis, at a press briefing in Strasbourg today, said:

The review found no indications of EU money having directly, or indirectly, benefited the terrorist organisation Hamas.
The EU is the world’s biggest provider of assistance to the Palestinians. Almost €1.2bn is earmarked for 2021-2024.

In a statement, the European Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen, said the review was “necessary” and that it has “confirmed that the safeguards in place are effective”, adding:

Work is now ongoing on the design of our future support to the Palestinians in view of the changing and still evolving situation.

UN agency says 108 staff killed in Gaza since 7 October

News of that death of a WHO employee comes on the same day the head of a different UN agency said 108 of his own staff had been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its operation there.

"According to our information, most were killed with their family members including their children," said Philippe Lazzarini - the head of UNRWA, an agency for Palestinians.

Lazzarini also told a meeting in Egypt that nearly 67 UNRWA installations had been hit - 17 of those directly. "Most of them were in the middle areas and in the south (of the Gaza Strip), where people were promised safety," he said.

"We cannot even protect people under the United Nations flag," Lazzarini added.

He said UNRWA was holding a memorial service every week to honour colleagues killed in Gaza. "I never believed... I would be planning memorial services for my staff in advance," he added.

WHO says employee killed in Gaza

The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) says one of his employees has been killed in Gaza.

In a post on X, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says Dima Alhaj was killed alongside her six-month-old baby, her husband and two brothers, while sheltering in a house.

"I have no words to describe our grief," he writes. "This horror must end".

Charity says three doctors killed in hospital strike

Since we just mentioned the plight of Gazan hospitals - here's a further, related update.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) says two of its doctors and a third unaffiliated with the charity have been killed in a strike on the al-Awda hospital - one of the last functional medical facilities in the northern Gaza Strip.

A statement from MSF said the hospital - which it said has been caring for 200 patients - was hit on the third and fourth floors. In addition to killing the doctors, the alleged hit also severely injured other medical staff, including some affiliated with MSF.

MSF said it had regularly shared information about the al-Awda's activities and location to the warring parties.

"Seeing doctors killed next to hospital beds is beyond tragic, and this must stop now," the statement said. It reiterated the charity's call for an immediate ceasefire, and for the protection of medical facilities and staff.

What some seem to forget is you can be horrified by the Hamas attack on 7th October but also be horrified by the way the IDF have attacked Gaza. As António Guterres said in his speech this did not happen in a vacuum .

Just want to point out that the footage f hostages being forcibly relocated into Gaza and the footage of them being dragged into Shifa (one of the furthest hospitas for them to reach in Northern Gaza) was recorded on 7th October 2023.

BUT, I'm also quite certain that the food supplies have gone down considerably for any innocent Palestnians since then.

BUT, Hamas, and probably their family members, are well-supplied with food and water they got hidden underground somewhere in the north given their looking pretty healthy just last week in the videos taken when they and the IDF were fighting outside Shifa before the IDF made entry.

Hamas may also be experiencing a dwindling of their own subterranian stocks (because the IDF is slowly but determindly destroying those stocks along with their tunnel network) given the Xeet that I put in here via link this morning of the three Gazan citizens taking matters into their own hands and beating the Hamas Policeman who was caught stealing Humanitarian Food Aid. Seems Hamas is quite willing and able to pilfer international huanitarian aid from the innocents and int their own hands. What heroes they are.
Yes, thank you for pointing that out.
Also, anyone who may either speak out against Hamas or also not openly 'praise' them may be subject to persecution ?

I think part of my post was reacting to the looks on the faces of the kidnapped Israelis' on the 7th of Oct.
Sheer terror.
They knew what could happen to them.

Again, I'm hoping many Gazans will start to revolt.
Their own children and other innocent people are being killed by the misfired Hamas rockets.
Add to this the storing or weapons in children's bedrooms.
Palestinians have to be (secretly) livid.
Maybe the IDF can give them courage to say what they know ?
Omo.

Israel agrees to Sinwar demand; halt UAV intel for 6 hours a day for hostage release

The deal to release the hostages has the support of the IDF, Shin Bet, and the Mossad, and includes the release of about 140 security prisoners from Israeli prisons.

The full Israeli cabinet started its meeting on approving the hostages deal with Hamas.

Netanyahu told the ministers during the cabinet meeting that as part of the agreement the Red Cross will visit hostages that will not be released and provide them with medicine, according to the Prime Minister’s office.

Doctors, medical staff, journalists, Palestinians to include thousands of children. The entire country being demolished. The withholding of basic living necessities to include food and water. This is not a war. Gaza may be leveled but the feelings this siege has provoked will fester and grow and not be forgotten. And Israel will be remembered as the annihilator.

Death toll passes 14,000 Palestinians in Gaza, says Hamas

At least 14,128 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the war began, according to the Hamas-run government in the enclave.

The latest death toll update includes at least 5,600 children and 3,550 women, it said.

Now why would Hamas not release the bodies of hostages which have died? Hiding something obviously.
They know Israel will do anything to return them home for burial. They keep the bodies as pawns. Israel values the dead as much as their living.

I doubt they died of natural causes so I'd imagine HAMAS would want as much time to pass as possible so a cause of death can't be determined. I hope they plan to tell Israel which hostages are dead or maybe that is just another of their sick twisted games.

How true!

No one has ever eliminated terrorism with bombs.
