IMO Travis was accurately describing what Jodi sounded like. He did not express a sexual interest in 12 year old girls, and in no way did he ever say anything about sodomizing a little girl -- as Jodi later interpreted his comment.
She tried to imply that about the "Red Riding Hood" fantasy which is 1) not remarkable and 2) preposterous.
His 12 year old girl statement can be read on many levels, being raunchy just because, teasing her affect, topping it off with a "that's hot" to not overly upset her, et cetera, but none of them referenced pedophilia to me in the slightest, and I wouldn't defend it otherwise. I've seen other comments saying the fact that he would even say anything referencing a child is evidence which is outrageous. People say stupid things all the time, put their foot in their mouth.
Nancy Grace said something to the effect about how he would the 'first pedophile ever to not have any electronic evidence.' Which is joking, but she had a point. I've seen people elsewhere show that his computer used a proxy server and that was evidence, but it isn't. Not only were there not that many documented cases, but for all we know he could have been downloading movies, et cetera, we can't know. But I find it hard to believe that not a single piece of evidence of pedophilia could be found. Not even the "photos." I mean, she supposedly threatened him by referencing him as a "pedophile with a PAST."
/RANT haha, sorry
