I have nothing but contempt for DP! He's a sick, twisted, sorry excuse for a human being. He's a dirty cop and had to have help from his fellow police officers and other crooked cops to cover up the murder. quote]

Have you seen the latest story about the canal search/telephone pinging? http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/napervillesun/news/698356,4_1_JO15_PETERSON_S1.article

In this article, a "police source" sounds awfully hostile to the case, and I don't mean towards Drew, either. quotes from this "source":
"Why didn't that come out the first day?" he said of the alleged August [gun] incident. "Now it's like they're just making stuff up."
" and

The law enforcement source went on to dismiss reports of police searching for rectangular blue containers supposedly missing from the Peterson's home.
"I'm not (looking for them)," the source said. "Nobody else seems to be."

It would be interesting to find out who this source is. Could be someone who has helped or is helping Drew.

Well the "source" is not very well informed. He should read Websleuths more.

So Drews phone DID ping at the canal at 11PM. My question is, why be so careful to set up the phone calls and ping at the coffee shop. But be so careless to answer his phone there?

C O R R U P T I O N !:furious: :furious: :furious:
I am hoping & praying they can prove it!

What's the random chance that a LE officer would be called to be a jurist on a coroners panel and that they would be a friend of Drews as well? And not recuse themselves? NONE.

Interesting that Drew took the nightstands and bed from Kathleen's house and now one of the nightstands is missing. Could it be that nightstand wasn't part of Stacy's murder but had been part of Kathleen's? And maybe the cadaver dog hitting on the death scent in Drew and Stacy's bedroom was actually picking up the scent from Kathleen's death..maybe the dog hit where the nightstand should have been. Maybe Drew took it apart in the garage, then placed the nightstand in Stacy's car to take to a dump or some other location ( the retaining pond at the airport?) and that is why the dog hit on Stacy's car and the retention pond..because of Kathleen's death scent?

That would be so ironic if what trips Drew up in Stacy's murder is his getting rid of old evidence from Kathleen's murder. Drew's a cop he would know he had to get rid of that too because if they brought in dogs and luminol they might get a postive on the nightstand from Kathleen's.
Oh, VERY interesting theory!! :waitasec: While I am not certain the dog could pick up a scent that old, Drew could have been worried about the luminol exposing areas of blood stemming from Savio's death. This would be a good reason to get rid of the nightstand.

This is very interesting. I posted this last night in the FBI thread. It appears that the FBI is investigating how the investigation in Kathleen's death was handled.

(snip)
Federal investigators are taking a look at the 2004 death of Kathleen Savio and the police investigation that followed the mysterious drowning of Savio, Drew Peterson's third wife.
Their effort, according to a law enforcement source, will include reviewing documents related to Savio's death, which initially was ruled an accident.

and

"The FBI does not have jurisdiction to investigate homicides and we are continuing to assist Illinois State Police into the disappearance of Stacy Peterson."
But the FBI could have jurisdiction over how a death was investigated. Back in 2004, when the coroner's jury ruled Savio's death an accidental drowning, her family didn't believe the findings and felt certain Drew Peterson was involved. In fact, in May 2004, Susan Savio - the dead woman's sister - testified before the coroner's jury that Kathleen Savio had foreshadowed her own demise.

SQ you are always reading my mind.:D I don't think she is anywhere near that canal and he seems to know that. I am praying for an miracle. I believe it will take one to find Stacy Peterson.

You don't think the "source" is his son, Steve, do you?

I don't think so.

It has been reported that Steve and his dad are real buddies.
Did anyone catch what Sharon said on GVS show last night regarding the fact that Steve and his then girlfriend(seems like they split because Steve cheated on her... according to Sharon the next door neighbor) were living in the home with Staci, Drew and kids when Kathy Savio was found?

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I hope Steve's ex girlfriend will come forward with what she may know.:twocents:

Sorry, don't know if that was me or the system. I was responding to your comment regarding the fact that you don't think he would be so careless as to have his phone "ping" where he put the body.;)

It's Not you!:blowkiss:

It's the system and it seems to be only in this thread. lol

Excellent question. The answer could be that he knew Cassandra was hot on the trail already about finding out what happened to Stacy. Drew was possibly worried she had followed him or had seen him somewhere. His first reaction could have been to answer her call to see if either one of these things had taken place. (He knew that Cassandra could be the downfall to his "perfect" plan...which as it turns out...she is!!)

The fact is Drew had control over many of the events in the demise of Stacy..except one thing..Cassandra's persistence. He could run around town placing calls on Stacy's phone to his phone..but he could not control who would be calling him or at what time. He answered the phone not knowing that she was in front of his house at that time, nor that she suspected foul play. It would have seemed odd to not answer the phone when your sister-in-law calls. She knew he would still be up, since normally he worked 2nd shift. Drew's MO is to always continue as usual and act normal (for Drew) He probably thought he could just blow her off, continue what he was doing and no one would question him. He doesn't know that Cassandra is on to him and is about to report Stacy missing. He doesn't know at this point that anyone is going to question whatever story he has cooked up. He doesn't know his time has run out. He thinks he is about to frame Scott R for this..he just answers the phone like it's any normal evening.

Wouldn't the cell phone ping whether he answered it or not? I thought that as long as the phone is turned on, it pings.

Besides, even though Drew obviously put years of thought in to how to get away with the next murder, nobody is perfect. Whe your phone rings, the reflex is to answer it. He was stressed, he answered it.

Delta, I agree to a point, but he did go to lengths providing the KK story is true from Tom M. to insure that Stacy's phone pinged from a certain area. He was thinking along those lines already so it is questionable why he would jeopordize his plan by answering it near the canal when Cassandra called. There was anotherl reason he answered that call and pretending it was a normal evening doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Maybe Drew hadn't read the fine print on other cases where this came out. It is true. The phone call from Cassandra may not have been what tipped LE off to search the canal area at all. This could be pure speculation.

As there's no blue print for criminals and their behavior, by the time Cassandra called him, he had probably just gotten back in the car from dumping Stacy's body. He may have been rattled, believed he was in the clear, and just answered it, not really thinking.

IMO, right about now, he's probably really pizzed at himself that he hadn't turned off his phone and that he subsequently answered it.:slap:

Welllll, since DP did answer Cassandras call, and he was OUT OF BREATH, would have been good IF she had asked to speak to STACY.

I do think the ping very well could have been Cassandras call just as DP had finished dumping what ever he dumped near or in the canal. He probably had a quick get real moment seeing the number on the read out he KNEW he had to answer 'that' call or the jig was up.

BUT the jig is still coming up. :behindbar: Welcome to the jig!

Holy Moley DeltaDawn, quick thinking on that nightstand !! That would really be ironic if THAT missing nightstand was Kathleens. That is some food for thought.

And even if it wasn't Kathleens, when he came home that night Stacy said (according to sources told to the pastor) he had a bag of woman's clothing and that he took a shower. He could have stashed the bag of woman's clothing (we assume belonged to Kathleen) into that same nightstand that night and blood or anything could have wiped off inside the night stand. Or even the clothing he, himself was wearing that night. That was three years ago so I wonder how long the smell of death could stay on something especially wood.

Interesting. Plus weren't there some other items he is reported as taking that belonged to Kathleen, jewelry? I mean if he took *anything* off of her after she was dead then wouldn't those items possibly still have the smell on them?

The way I was understanding the news reports on the missing night stand is that when photos were taken during the initial search, the night stand was in the photos but at some point a second set of photos were taken, assuming during the next search warrant and in those photos the night stand is missing. So if that were the case he got rid of that night stand sometime between search warrant trips.

Good point. He probably was rattled and not thinking.

I bet he would be mad at himself for a lot of things he screwed up, but...Oh wait...no...Drew never blames himself...he is really mad at Stacy, Cassandra, and the cell phone company instead!!

He is really mad at Cassandra...he has dragged everyone through the mud but her...why is that? Drew isn't being Drew when it comes to Cassandra..I think he is afraid of her.

11/23/2007 MYFOXCHICAGO VIDEO ("Search for Blue Barrel and Missing Night Stand Becomes Focus of Peterson Investigation" (1:02):

[Tera Williams reports]: "A person who was questioned tells us they were not asked about the blue barrol but rather about Stacy Peterson's missing night stand. They tell us state police say they have two sets of pictures from inside Drew Peterson's home and in the second set, Stacy Peterson's night stand is gone."

It doesn't say *exactly* but from the report above it sounds like ISP took two sets of photos, JMO. And I would think something missing from a crime scene between two sets of *official* crime scene photos would raise red flags much more than an item that was shown, for instance in a family photo taken before the crime even occured.

Too bad when Jamie Colby of Fox News was allowed to have that house tour right after the first search warrant was served that she couldn't have snapped a few secret pics with her cell phone !!
